British singer-songwriter TaniA Kyllikki and her husband, producer and multi-instrumentalist Rynellton (Garry D. Hairston), have released “HUMAN,” a powerful techno-house soul hybrid born from an unexpected Facebook post and finished in their bedroom.
The couple believed they had completed the final song for Kyllikki’s forthcoming album FREE-SPIRITED. Then a post about the hostility and division she was witnessing online toward people of different races, cultures, and backgrounds stopped her cold. Deeply affected, she wrote from the heart about empathy and shared humanity. The words refused to leave her. They became lyrics. She turned to Rynellton at his keyboard and said: “Baby, we’ve gotta create one more song and call it HUMAN.”
What followed was an unlikely fusion. Rynellton’s initial surprise at combining her gospel-soul vocal expression and extraordinary five-octave range with powerful techno-house production gave way the moment she sang him the melody. After more than a year of severe illness following three years of ongoing recurrent UTIs, life-threatening Urosepsis infections, hospital admissions, and major career interruptions, with further weekly bladder treatments still ahead, Kyllikki refuses to surrender her gift. She records from a self-made vocal booth fashioned from the corner wardrobe beside her bed, creating when her body allows and resting when it does not.
