LA-based hip-hop artist See Level’s latest “All Inclusive” is a much aptly titled album in which he invites everyone to get on board and join him for a little vacation time…
“All Inclusive” is a 20-track album with a very clear goal in mind…to have us chill and enjoy a great time…spoiler alert, it achieves that goal and we couldn’t have been more happy, relaxed or just laid back with such elegant musicality.
I’d describe “All Inclusive” as modern-day jazz blues…why? Because it has the same hypnotic and mesmerizing effect as the music of the 40s and 50s has…and that’s something we do miss, by we I mean the world.
See Level manages to break new musical grounds with this album…I mean, 20 tracks, completely different, unique, each with its own musical charisma and melodic presence that takes your breath away…
…I never thought hip-hop, lo-fi, and jazz would go that well until I experienced this album…
…and let me tell you something that many might miss…the track naming, that’s one of the little secrets that elevates this musical experience even more, I’ll tell you why.
The first song is titled “Window Seat”, then you have “All Inclusive”, then “Hammock n a Breeze”, “Fresh Fruit” then “Clear Waters”…see where I’m going? I’m going on an actual vacation!
Add to that, the fact that with a track like “Fresh Fruit,” there are some sound effects that are very reminiscent of a cocktail being prepared…water getting poured, the sound of a spoon hitting a glass…so there are some very clever sonic tidbits tucked elegantly within the absolute mind-blowing chill music.
Almost all of the tracks are seconds shy of 3 minutes, taking us from one musical scenery to another eloquently and without making us feel saturated with its melodies, instead, this way, it keeps making us go back to get a little more of each track.
“All Inclusive” also does something pretty hard with an album of 20 songs…it manages to keep things fresh and diversified…so with a song like “That’s What She Said” there’s a stronger electro approach, yet with elements that are unique to See Level, like the super musical and melodic piano sections…and also it mixes things up from a mood point of view…before “That’s What She Said”, the songs were more on the bright side of music, but with this song, it kind of goes for a darker emotional vibe…which is great and a very welcome change of pace.
…after it right away is “Time Flys”, a very Japanese jazz-infused hip-hop masterpiece that I must have kept on repeat for an eternity…couldn’t get enough of this one. Instant chill vibes.
The album continues its unique naming approach, ending on “Early Retirement”…an aptly named last track to mark the end of this vacation, but also marks the beginning of a bigger vacation.
See Level’s “All Inclusive” is one of the best pieces of music I’ve had in a very long time…it spoke to me through its instrumental approach and mood-chilling melodies. A great musical achievement.
We wish See Level All the best in life, he surely deserves that, especially after making our lives a bit more…musical.
Can’t wait to hear what See Level has next for the world.
Cheers!
