There is music…then there is Emily Magner Hurley.
Emily is the kind of artist no two could argue about, with a life-filled angelic voice, vast range, technique, and infinite levels of talent, Emily’s music instantly touches your heart and soul…that can’t be truer than her latest album “Orainn”, which means “Us” in the Gaelic language.
“Orainn” is a 10-song collection of both original and traditional Irish folk songs with a very high level of meditative quality to its music like none other.
Emily’s contribution to making our lives better does not end with her innate and absolutely stunning musicality… she’s also a school teacher, bringing out the best of the young and creating a better future by investing in the new generation…still, that doesn’t give us the complete picture, a very important piece is still missing…and that is the fact that Emily is raising awareness around stuttering mental wellbeing in Ireland, or SAMWI for short.
Getting to know Emily as a human being and as an artist is a very important part of the musical journey that awaits you with “Orainn”…
…which has 10 musical adventures, focusing on acapella…and it’s not your usual acapella, believe me, it’s acapella on another level, it’s hypnotic, mesmerizing…simply magical.
All the songs’ names are in Gaelic, which is actually interesting to learn their meanings…and the album starts with “An Mhaighdean Mhara” which is most likely translated to “Mermaid”…please excuse my Gaelic, I’ve been to Ireland just one, but plan to visit many more times…
“An Mhaighdean Mhara” is an old traditional folk song/story and is a conversation between the Mermaid and her daughter. The mermaid must leave her family and return to the sea now that she has found her magic cloak or seal skin in some versions.
The rest of the album continues to surprise us with each song, different, unique, powerful, musical, and superbly melodic. The amount of emotional depth that you’ll find with the album is staggering…it’s emotionally deeper than the Mariana Trench and higher than the peaks of Mount Everest.
We don’t want to spoil any fun and any surprises you’ll come to find within the album…actually, it is the kind of album that when talking about it we shouldn’t say more than two words…” Must Listen”…
…Emily has created a melodic vocal masterpiece with “Orainn”, the kind of music that at some point when you’re experiencing the album, you forget about time, you are just there, engulfed with the angelic lights that the vocals emit and shine unto you.
“Orainn” is a wonderful and magical musical experience that evolves and changes dynamically using some of the most mesmerizing and hypnotic vocals you’ll ever come across…” Orainn” is the album we are in most need of, literally cleansing our souls while going down the folkloric musical heritage of amazing Ireland, a magical land that oozes character and lore.
We wish all the best to Emily and all of her endeavors in both life and music…and we can’t wait to hear more and more of her exquisite talents.
Check out Emily’s “Orainn” right now…this is music in all of its glory.
Cheers!
