Rising hip hop and rap artists Young God Blow based in Brooklyn, New York, released a banging fresh album called ‘Vermillion’, a mirror of its name, on the 30th of November. Young is a sure-to-be hip-hop juggernaut and it shows from the tremendous effort he makes to create and upgrade his music all the time. Starting in 2018, he changed his style a lot, except for his lyrical strength which persists until today. He loves everything about the y2k time and wanted to blend all its elements into one sonic experience with a modern hip-hop twist some of his influences are Jayz, Ski mask the slump god, and Tyler the creator.
Vermillion means red, and red is exactly what we feel A collection of personal experiences and thoughts passionately rapped about, this album is explosive with electronic trashy hip-hop sounds that make you feel like you’re in some kind of thrilling video game. It’s definitely savage and playful and Young god makes it seems effortless to sound this good with his hot charisma that seeps into his rapping style and slow. The overall sound of the album is infectious with high energy and emotion, packed in a loud and mind-blowing way. Although most of the tracks are repetitive in their musical arrangement within each song, Young still manages to make each song on its own different from the other.
The soundscape is heavy hip hop that is mostly medium paced, and the tones are playful, daring, and catchy. The instruments included are mostly very heavy and prominent bass that lead the pace and hardcore electronic sounds that merge to form a heavily processed hip hop sound that is very distinct. Many of the Melodies are surprisingly made with subtle light sounds like a synth feel, magical harp, or drums. The rapping and vocals of Young are effortlessly confident and straight to the point with a really steady flow of words. The lyrics are genius and there are a lot of wordplays that are entertaining to the ear.
The order of songs seems to have no particular order but rather a compilation of experiences and emotions that build up a smooth listening journey. Give this album a listen for an intense and hyped hip-hop vibe.
