The talented Korean singer-songwriter and music producer Sil-A has unveiled her single, “Bad Type.” This marks my first experience with Korean hip-hop artists, and I must say, it is absolutely breathtaking.

The heartfelt vocals of Seoul artist Sil-A reflect her distinctive singing style. I believe it is significantly inspired by the American hip-hop scene, while the influence of Korean culture adds a remarkable layer of diversity.

I believe the beauty of Sil-A‘s music stems from her unique artistic journey. I am particularly drawn to self-taught artists who give their art the freedom to flourish, unlike many traditional artists who often approach their work with meticulous calculation in every note. This approach, I feel, results in a richer output. In just three years, she has participated in over 30 shows, released two albums, and even received recognition in local Korean news. As she expressed: My goal as an artist is to remain imperfect and unfiltered – creating artworks which people can relate to and use as fuel to break the mold. Since 2022, I have played in over 30 shows across the country, independently produced 2 albums, and gained recognition in both the National Korean news, and Seoul-based publications. Completely self-taught, passionate, and determined – I have been working day and night to personally fund my artistic productions. My journey in the music industry has only just begun and I would love to take you along with me.”

In my opinion, Sil-A is an artist worthy of our attention, and I want to emphasize this point. I truly believe we are witnessing the emergence of a new global hip-hop icon. Cheers to that!
