Swiss arranger and composer Gianfranco GFN never missed a beat with us on his previous releases. A songwriter who is consistently imaginative and undeniably bold, Gianfranco’s songs are always a joyous occasion to sit down and dive deep into, peeling layers, exploring crisp harmonies, and savoring delicious deliveries, and his latest cut ‘Boulevard de l’amour “Fall in love”’ fits the bill.
Based in Bienne in Switzerland, Gianfranco is an all-around musician. A guitarist, composer, and songwriter who arranges some truly neat and tight instrumental palettes with surgical precision that make each of his listens stand out in a different way to the others. On ‘Boulevard de l’amour “Fall in love”’, Gianfranco GFN utilizes the infinitely rich and Bowie-esque vocals of frequent collaborator Vladimir Carbone, in a vocal performance that seems to be among the best in Gianfranco’s career to this point.
Alongside Carbone’s soulful and flamboyant yells, we will find the consistent support from the back vocals of Evgenia Vieira, a truly solid drum and bass groove that comes courtesy of David Caraccio’s bass and Nicolas Pittet’ drum kit. Among the song’s most outstanding sections is a midsection synth solo that is delicately played with masterful hands, and an uber-colorful chorus that features glistening pianos and a chord sequence that melts the clouds away.
The jazz and funk elements ‘Boulevard de l’amour “Fall in love”’ make it one of Gianfranco’s most ambitious and definitely one of his best sounding releases to date. A truly outstanding piece of genre-hopping soul that is made with love.
