Epic production graces Realma’s latest, sci-fi-inspired release, along with grand, cinematic tendencies, confident musicality, and unforgettable atmospherics.

Realma is a Serbian musician hailing from the city of Bor. Her latest single, titled ‘Down the Railway Spine’ sees her brandishing her very own brand of nuanced electronica, featuring chippy rhythm tricks, dramatic duets between her voice and the searing strings, and crisp production value. There’s nothing “pop” about Realma. Weighted composition, dense arrangement, and progressive songwriting, even the animated video is pure sci-fi.

With that said, there’s nothing off-putting or intimidating about ‘Down the Railway Spine’. Quite the opposite. The artist has been receiving praise and press attention throughout Europe for her unique, creative flair, and it is exactly this that makes ‘Down the Railway Spine’ so very fun. Taking a moment to sit back and think through those time signatures, figuring out the interweaving layers of synths, keys, strings, and vocals, or trying to unravel the nuanced composition, sifting through the moments of drama, dissonance, grandiosity, and release, all can make ‘Down the Railway Spine’ a thoroughly entertaining listen, if a bit left field.

The video, a perfect marriage between Gorillas’ visual charm and synchronic, neon-lit 80s themes, has been developed in collaboration with award-winning animator Mihajlo Dragas and will take you through an interstellar journey of a racer trying to save a sibling. All well thought-out, well put-together, with enough weight to make the listen gratifying without making it a grind. Another winner by Realma.
