London-based outfit Good Time Locomotive are back with the latest single ‘Stay Close’, looking to bring a more introspective and softer element within their sound, but remaining a portrait of energised performances and pop-rock blends. Thematically, they explore love and redemption and connect with one another in darker moments.
Opening with vibrant synth tones before descending into charged-up guitar riffs as the intro progresses, the verses then take a backseat. Above a piano, the vocal performance is emotional, growing alongside the instrumentation as new elements emerge from the atmosphere. They introduce flavours of spoken word into their sound, the final piece to a puzzle of anthemic proportions, and a new angle for Good Time Locomotive.
The band explains, “We have all had our fair share of dark moments in this band and this song seemed to sum up both the struggle of those dark moments along with the fact that none of us are an island and that we all need each other to get through the worst times in life”
Forming amidst the pandemic, the band have steadily garnered recognition from their early days writing via video calls to their now ever-growing release schedule. With only a few years on the scene, they are already building a strong following.
