Norwegian “Engegård Quartet”, renowned for their classical repertoire, are showcasing their talents in Norwegian Folk through a 5-part series of videos that will be released in 2024…and they’re kicking it off with their first of this series, a track titled “Joik”.
The videos, filmed outdoors in Lofoten, feature a narrative piece, Haugelåt, inspired by traditional folk melody and Grieg’s Opus 72…so we know we’re in for a folky adventure with a classical flavor…and what an adventure it is.
“Joik” showcases the quartet’s creative and technical skills perfectly…”Joik” is a highly dynamic and emotional piece of music with a strong thematic presence and also a powerful storytelling approach…
The quartet includes 3 violins and a cello…and together they sound absolutely huge, thanks to their beautifully realized compositions and arrangement.
The video of their track “Joik”, includes some shots of deer and wolves…and they took the creative liberty of adding the wolves’ howls through their instruments…which is a brilliant inclusion and an addition that reflects their creativity and technical skills.
Make sure to follow the amazing Engegård Quartet for a folky, classical, and mindful musical experience that will unfold bit by bit through 2024, with the release of their 5 video series.
Wishing all the best to the amazingly talented Engegård Quartet.
Cheers!
