Syrupy Sweet Vocals and a Catchy Beat in “Heartbreak on 9th Avenue” by Mirnaz

Heartbreak anthem coming your way! Iraqi singer/songwriter, Mirnaz’ latest single “Heartbreak on 9th Avenue” is the embodiment of relationship distress woven in R&B sounds, commercial pop, and a sick flow that gets stuck in your head upon the first play.

The lyric video opens up with Mirnaz announcing she’s going for a drive, then the song kicks off and takes you on a ride through her pain as she talks about her ex-love. Her sultry vocals sound like drips of honey being poured in your ears; syrupy sweet and catchy.

“Got love on my mind and pride by side,” sings Mirnaz. “I can see inside your mind. I can see what you’re chasin’. Heartbreak on 9th avenue, until you see what I saw in you.”

Armed with a passion for music from a young age and involved in choir singing, Mirnaz was born in Baghdad and raised in Detroit, and you can easily spot the Middle Eastern influences in her music with a touch of Arabian style in her singing. She credits her idols such as Arab stars, Kadim Al Saher and Amr Diab, along with Western icons, Jay-Z, Beyonce, and Nina Simone.

The catchy beat reminds you of early 2000s R&B music, when the likes of Ciara and Mary J. Blige were topping the charts. And with a newborn star on the rise, we expect her to also hit the grid with similar upcoming powerful anthems soon.
