Kate Bowers’s latest offering is a sweet, gentle, thoughtful, and balanced acoustic ballad that will grab you in and keep you hooked from the first to the last strum. ‘Holy Night (A Christmas Song From The War)’ takes over from the likes of Leonard Cohen and Jeff Buckley for an extremely colorful piece of music.

A Canadian, Kete Bowers is based in Toronto, and his songs are well put together and poetic. A gentler Tom Waits, or a lighter Nick Cave, Kete Bowers’s songs are lyrics-heavy and contemplative. His latest song makes use of the man’s massive life experiences, creating compelling fusions of word and sound that are rich no matter which angle you decide to focus on.

The generally soft and light arrangement is deceptively nuanced, with a tapestry of interweaving electric guitar, soft pads, and a glistening piano, all supporting Bowers’s powerful words, the music creating a cloudy pillow that lifted me for the duration of this grown up Christmas song.

Kete Bowers’s musical sensibilities and lyrical prowess make his music something to marvel at, and his ‘Holy Night’ is a case in point. A warm song that wholly embraces, ‘Holy Night’ got me excited for what Kete Bowers got in store next.
