Back when we covered Scottish producer and drummer Brannen with his debut “Tulips,” a follow-up, “Keep Dancing With Me,” was already on the way. It came out on September 24th, and it carries that first release’s melodic house sound forward.
Thematically, the song tackles the concept of being present, living in the moment, and holding on to the fleeting experiences that make life meaningful. The track delivers that at a nice medium 124 BPM in G major, pairing an uplifting instrumental with an expressive vocal. That puts it between melodic house and the deeper, more emotive side of dance music. The groove is steady and forward-moving, and the arrangement leaves room for atmosphere and gradual progression.
Brannen‘s background in live bands comes through in how the track is put together. He spent years as a drummer and lead vocalist before moving into electronic production, and he treats rhythm as a musical element rather than a technical box to tick. His influences include Ben Böhmer, Lane 8, Yotto and Jody Wisternoff, and “Keep Dancing With Me” takes their sense of movement and warmth without trying to reproduce it.
Behind the scenes, the track was recorded with sound engineer Brian Hurren and mixed and mastered by Jack Wiles at Moonshift Audio, aiming for a polished, club-ready finish that keeps the emotional character intact. It is designed to work in a DJ set and for headphone listening, which suits late nights and long journeys.
“Tulips” has since picked up more than 2,000 Spotify streams and airplay on Formula Indie, so there is some momentum behind this second release. “Keep Dancing With Me” gives a clearer picture of where Brannen is heading, and it makes a good case for keeping an eye on what comes next from the project.
