Independent singer-songwriter and producer Kiey has officially unveiled his highly anticipated lead single “phan thiet”, the first taste of his upcoming third album METROMIRAGE (set for release in September 2026).
A bold creative leap, “phan thiet” showcases Kiey’s signature internationally influenced dream-pop and R&B sound wrapped in a deeply emotional narrative. The track tells the story of a young man revisiting memories of a dreamlike coastal journey with the woman he loves, only to awaken to the painful reality of loss. Blending gentle, liberating ocean-inspired melodies with themes of loneliness, grief, and emotional aftermath, the song captures the bittersweet beauty of cherished memories that linger long after love is gone.
A Major Cinematic Production To bring the story to life, Kiey made one of his boldest investments yet, collaborating with a top-tier film crew behind several Vietnamese blockbuster hits. Directed by FA Châu Trần (Director of Photography for the hit film Phí Phông), the music video features a compelling sci-fi narrative about a scientist attempting to resurrect his lost lover through a humanoid robot. The emotionally charged story is led by acclaimed actors Sỹ Hậu (Phí Phông, Ma Xó) and Millie Vũ.
In a notable artistic choice, Kiey does not appear in the video. Instead, he stayed behind the camera throughout the two-day on-location shoot in Phan Thiết, working closely with the director to ensure every visual detail aligned with his vision. The stunning sets range from a futuristic laboratory to breathtaking coastal scenes, delivering a true cinematic experience.
The song itself was born spontaneously during a Lunar New Year family trip along the coastal road from Phan Thiết to Ho Chi Minh City. Captivated by the sea breeze and waves, Kiey captured the initial melodies and lyrics on his phone. After nearly two months of meticulous studio refinement, his longest production process to date, “phan thiet” stands as a refined representation of the sonic direction for METROMIRAGE.
About Kiey
Kiey, whose real name is Vưu Tuấn Kiệt, is the youngest son of the founding family behind Biti’s. While honoring his family’s business legacy, he has carved out his own path as an independent singer-songwriter and producer. Known for crafting English-language pop, R&B, and alternative music with strong artistic identity and creative independence, Kiey made his debut with the album Night To Myself in 2019, followed by Sunday Sanctuary in 2022.
