“Seven In The Morning” by Birds Are Better is a track that made time stop for me once I listened to it. The simplicity of the guitar composition makes everything more intimate and more touching.

The vocals are sung in a light and bright head voice most of the time, which fits perfectly with the narrative of the lyrics. The vocalist has a super clean tone and little to no nasality, which made the sound pure and gave him excellent emotional delivery.

As I followed that simple and easy chord progression on the acoustic guitar, I felt like the song took me away into a dream-like realm where I could stop thinking about everything else and just leave my mind to the music to be hypnotized by it.

But it doesn’t just stop there, the parts with the humming are followed by a string arrangement that reaches right into your soul as you listen to it. You can’t really think of it as a break or interlude, but more like an ascension to a soft crescendo, unlike any other one I’ve heard before.

If you ever told me that a track would try to merge the styles of Simon & Garfunkel and A-Ha then it would seem like a far stretch, but Birds Are Better took this combo of styles and birthed out of it a beautiful song with some of the most incredible emotional deliver you will ever come across.
