Hailing from Cambridge, New York, Shannon Tehya has been pursuing a creative career from a very young age. Lacing her music with honesty, hope and inspiration, Shannon uses her releases to bring a positive impact to the world, whilst working through personal difficulties. To help fund her musical dream, Shannon works full-time as a dancer in a local strip club. Through this life of dancer by night, and music by day, Shannon hopes to help break down the stereotypes that work to put people in boxes.
The next track to tease her upcoming album, Shannon recently released a new single entitled ‘Dance With Someone New’. Embracing an easy-going and whimsical folk attitude, the artist flows through wistful themes, lacing them with a subtle contentment. Upbeat through the plucky layers of acoustic and electric guitar, softly driven by laid-back percussion, and cherry-topped by a smiling whistled memory, Shannon embraces a sense of dreamy melancholy, moving through the bright arrangement.
Shannon explains, ”I wrote this album about the crazy highs and lows that a person feels when in a relationship that they aren’t meant to be in. Writing each song was like a therapy session for me. I wrote and wrote until I eventually wrote my ex all the way out of the storyline, and I was able to love myself again.”
