Cult Manchester band The Catchmen return with their highly anticipated second album ‘Indoor Weather’, a lush, orchestral, and emotionally expansive work that concludes the romantic saga begun with their acclaimed reunion album Stockport Syndrome.

Where Stockport Syndrome told the story of a young man’s first great love through a male lens, ‘Indoor Weather’ shifts perspective to the woman’s journey from the heady rush of young romance in 1989, through betrayal, motherhood, ageing, and self-reckoning. Across 12 cinematic tracks, the album weaves soaring strings, intimate vocals, and widescreen arrangements into a deeply moving northern romance set against the skies and streets of Stockport.

The record opens with the shimmering summer anthem ‘Humber’ and features standout tracks such as ‘Hero’, ‘England’, ‘Hush’, ‘Broken’, and the closing meditation ‘You Alone’. Recorded with the Sofia Session Orchestra and featuring guest contributions from Kate St John (The Dream Academy), Indoor Weather finally realises the band’s teenage dream of creating big, orchestral indie music.

To mark the occasion, a limited-edition vinyl reissue of Stockport Syndrome will be released on 21st March, allowing fans to experience both sides of this heartfelt story.

“I started my first band, The Catchmen, at the same time as I first started dating,” says Michael Knowles. “My escapades and heartbreak informed the songs. I could hear orchestras in my head… and now, decades later, that vision has finally been realised.”

Formed in 1988 by Michael Knowles and Ian Livingstone, The Catchmen were part of the Madchester scene, famously hosting a young Oasis as their support act at Manchester’s Boardwalk in 1991. Despite early buzz and Radio 1 play, the band split before fulfilling their orchestral ambitions. Now, with Livingstone, an Ivor Novello-winning composer and Knowles, a BAFTA-nominated producer, they have reunited to create the music they always dreamed of.

‘Indoor Weather’ is out now on all major platforms.
