When it comes to changing genres and drawing influence from multiple sources, American singer-songwriter Kama Tala has never been a stranger. In his latest single, You Got Love From Me Now, Kama Tala goes in a commercial pop direction that we’ve only seen glimpses of in previous songs.
The song begins with a whistle sound that serves as one of the song’s hooks, and then it moves on to a beautiful storytelling verse. The lyrics reminisce about a past that the person is no longer living and flow beautifully into the chorus which concludes with the titular message ‘You Got Love From Me Now’. There are still some rock elements in the song like the guitars and the rhythm we hear, but they are stripped down to leave room for Kama’s spectacular vocals and the powerful yet poppy percussion.
The second verse is a little different from the first one, but it still flows beautifully with the chorus. While the song is only two minutes and five seconds long, you feel every bit of emotion and get to listen to each section and appreciate it for the fine details in it, and this is probably due to the pop direction that Kama opted for on this track. I recommend this one if you’re looking for an artist with a rock-ish mentality making a song that’s different and more versatile.
