I rarely find an artist who enjoys mixing old styles with today’s pop songs. However, Collabortions create some modern songs with the taste of 60s and 70s songs. They, as the name already entails, are a group of artists that would come together to create incredible art.

They are owned by Ed Daniels, who has a vision of creating songs with a heart at the core. Nowadays, a lot of the pop music loses the true meaning of music and care only for creating a “hit” song. Collabortions, on the other hand, are a group that cares about authenticity, creative freedom, and delivering a conscious message.

They recently released a song under the title “You Gotta Know”, the song is written by Ed Daniels and Anais Preller. Anais Preller is also the main vocalist of the song, with a delicate and soft voice, she delivers an outsanding preformance.

The musical composition is inspirational; it draws influence from the soulful and motivational gospel music. The blend of instruments is phenomenal, just like described it is a modern creation of nostalgic 60s song styles. The beauty of this song lies not only in its composition but the message behind it.

The song’s message is to push the listener to break the passive state they might be in and to do something regarding their life. The song questions the status quo according to the artists behind it. It discusses introspective ideals that are needed in today’s day and age. We are all trapped in the race of life, which tends to be distracting and unsettling. Life doesn’t need to be this way, and change at a certain point is necessary. The song encourages the listeners to take action and control their lives.

When I first heard the song, it give off a nostalgic feeling, I felt like watching a movie from the 90s with the protagonist is facing a life changing decision. The song plays in the background as the protagonist finally decides what to do.
