Rising Southeast Michigan artist and producer Baby Booder (Daijon T. Munson) drops his powerful new single “Champion”, the second track from his 15-track album P O I N T E. The release offers a raw, introspective look at the challenges and triumphs of 2025, turning personal growth into a relatable anthem of resilience and self-belief.
“Champion” continues the album’s mission as a lyrical homage to the neighborhood where Baby Booder came of age during the first and second terms of Obama’s presidency. From the safety of a family cul-de-sac to the realities of apartment life surrounded by university parks, medical centers, and hidden street dynamics, the project explores loyalty, culture, identity, survival, and the codes that shape young lives. The track reflects the constant pressure of judgment, ranking, and street situations — yet delivers the clear message that the goal is always to emerge stronger, smarter, wiser, and more formal.
Recorded primarily in a home and traveling studio to preserve its authentic underground feel (with additional sessions at Grove Studios in Ypsilanti, MI), “Champion” captures Baby Booder tapping into creative potential he didn’t know he had. The process was one of pure freedom — creating without overthinking, simply connecting the dots. Influences from Bad Boy Records, Diddy, Mary J. Blige, and Freddie Gibbs shine through in the smashing beats and storytelling, showcasing his evolution as both an artist and beat-maker.
Baby Booder shares: “Don’t get confused lookin’ at stars thinkin’ it’s an airplane.”

This release gives fans a full glimpse into who Baby Booder is, not just his history, but the creativity and wisdom he’s channeled through the stresses and blessings of the past year. As an independent artist under his own label, Substance Controlled, LLC, he has already released over 300 compositions while staying deeply rooted in the community. A former student board member of Ann Arbor’s Neutral Zone youth non-profit and affiliate of My Brother’s Keeper Washtenaw Chapter, Baby Booder pours real-life lessons into his music for the next kid who doesn’t yet know they’re a star.
“Champion” is available now on all major streaming platforms, with upcoming live performances including NonStop Hip Hop shows in April and wMBK x F734 shows in May across Southeast Michigan.
