Only a mere 2-minute-long song, but creating an everlasting effect, is “Creatures” electronic track by Australian producer Okayden. It is the lead single off of his upcoming EP, and it is inspired by the popular movie Scooby Doo.
“This song Creatures was created as I wanted something that spoke to me and my childhood,” shared Okayden. “But also something that felt very tribal-esque to create a stronger connection to people and the Earth. As the first song in my upcoming album, I am hoping to capture that essence of all the songs being connected and quite personal to me in some way, to try and break the mold a little of electronic dance music being a little faceless, a bit like how Fred Again… has implemented in his recent works.”
The song features a funky beat that has you bobbing your head to the sound, and tribal elements that consists of a language that might seem almost like gibberish upon the first listen. It is catchy, nevertheless, and is perfect for a night out clubbing or just jamming in your car on the way back home from work.
Okayden is hoping to incorporate his friends and family in future releases, but for this specific upcoming release, “Creatures”, he claims that it reminds him of the innuendos and jokes that the film Scooby Doo carried when he watched it as a young kid.
With inspiration taken from the likes of Alison Wonderland, Nnamdi, Daft Punk, and Damon Albarn, Okayden remixes a fresh sound that is fully energetic. He’s also been keeping busy this year, as he released five remixes already and was featured on 2xxFM. With such a busy schedule ahead, stay tuned for upcoming releases by the electronic mastermind!
