Indie Alt band Hyde Away from Bishops Stortford, UK, successfully sucks us into the pre-winter warm, emotive mood with their new rock pop single ‘Emily’ released on October 14th. With this new track, the band has officially established their musicality in the same, backed by a recent gig at the junction in Cambridge. Hyde away has had previous releases that made it to press headlines like Deliver and Mutual, there’s so much to expect from this band with their gentle and heartwarming tunes.
We’re all suckers for a song about a girl, no matter who and where you are, you will never be short of an emotional coincidence with music written about a certain somebody, and this is what Hyde Away offers us with this tune. It’s a swirl of sweet pain and joy as you listen to Emily. It’s a song written in first person about someone who has found that their lover is more into their friends. This song feels like a foggy cold day in a park with the sun slightly peeking out of one of the clouds. Although this song smells of heartbreak the overall sound is cozy and mellow and the undertone mood is light and fluffy. The musical arrangement is rich starting with a soft rock soundscape that is slow and slightly builds a more intense tune as the vocalists sing more about his pain. The rhythm is medium paced, guided by a melancholic guitar melody, drums and cymbals, and a lot of drum rolls as the track transitions. A notable sound is the backing vocals with lyrics that give the track more texture and makes you want to sing along! A truly sweet reflection of heartbreak put into sound.
