RedanFox just released a 7 track EP, culminating his talents into one powerful pop album that takes you all over the emotional spectrum…in an unusual and most exciting way…
RedanFox takes no shortcuts, he’s an all in kind of artist, what you see is what you get…no autotune, he’s vulnerable and out there making excellent music.
With the release of his EP “Into The Woods”…it feels like he’s put his whole being into this project…and this is what i’m getting, ‘cause it might be one of the best pop albums in recent years…
The EP starts with an intro track, a storytelling brief, told in a storytelling performance, like he’s on the stage and welcoming us into this little fairy tale that he’s crafted and created for us…
“Once Upon A Time” is the first track and it’s more of an experience than that of a song…and it did put us in the perfect mindset, getting ready for whatever comes next…
…going into the second track “The White Key & The Black Note” a pop song with blues influences and guitar licks…along with a hip-hop style beat and percussion section…but with some great musical moments made possible by the piano and some amazing scale progressions…and some stage-like performances…a great one here…the vocals and music are perfect for each other…
Moving further in the album we get the third track “It’s All About It”…an amazing modern sounding take on the best of what the 70s gave the world…the constant and steady piano notes along the drums, it’s a powerful driving force laying the foundation for the really great vocal performance from RedanFox…the vocals are great, from many points of view actually…
…the performance, the flow of the words and how it’s laid out on the music and cut like his, just a shockingly good song…there’s a twist at the very end of the song…and it’s like RedanFox is continuing the story that he started in the intro track of the album…I’m loving his kind of fusion between story and song…
“Same Damn Thang” is the next song…and it starts out with a 16 bit kind of SNES sound…then right into the song with a retro sounding synths…it’s like we’re moving not just moving from style to style, nope, it’s like we’re moving from one world to another…
The retro nostalgic drum beats are extremely enjoyable along with the synth licks…perfect.
…I think if you listen closely you’ll even hear some SNES sound effects from some games…I’m loving this.
Next trip is “La Credo”…a song in French, RedanFox’s native tongue, he’s actually based in Paris!
“La Credo” is a french hip-hop/pop with some great bluesy music and piano licks…
The soulful song is accompanied with a synth brass solo that hits all the perfect spots.
So far…all the music in RedanFox’s EP is some of the best that I’ve heard put into one album.
This takes us to the last song…or two songs in the EP…let me tell you why…
The title album song “Into The Woods” has 2 versions here, one is the original one and the second is the “Gotham City Version” of “Into The Woods”…
Starting with the original one…
The song is a pop dance hybrid…and once again with great vocal melodies and more pop focused direction and production style.
The highlight here is the vocal melodies, some of the best you’ll hear this year.
…along with the vocals, the guitars are also persistent and shining in this one.
“Into The Woods” has a couple of instrumentation transitions that keeps things fresh…that was a very smart decision.
…now onto the “Gotham City Version” of “Into The Woods”…
It’s a beatboxing acapella song…and it’s more darkly produced and remixed…
It also comes with a music video…
The music video is professionally shot and features the artist Black Note, rapping a couple of bars near the end of the song…just smooth flow all the way, original and classically flavored.
I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed the experience that RedanFox has presented with his EP “Into The Woods”…it’s a highly recommended one for sure, can’t even recommend it enough…go check it out right now on spotify and youtube for the music video…
RedanFox…we wish you all the best in life, you deserve it and a lot more, you’re very special.
Can’t wait to hear what you create next, we’ll be on the lookout.
Cheers!
