One Direction star Liam Payne has died after falling from the third floor of a hotel balcony in Argentina, according to reports.
Argentine newspaper La Nacion said the tragic incident occurred at the hotel he was staying in Buenos Aires, with several witnesses claiming he fell from his hotel balcony.
Payne was enjoying a getaway with his partner Kate Cassidy when the incident occurred.
The 31-year-old rose to fame on the UK X Factor, where he auditioned for two separate years before he was picked to join Simon Cowell’s group One Direction.
The band was formed in 2010 alongside Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, and Louis Tomlinson.
However, his health became a concern, forcing him to cancel planned shows and events throughout 2023 and 2024.
In September 2023, Liam was hospitalised due to a severe kidney infection while on holiday in Italy.
There has been an outpouring of grief after news of the popstar’s death emerged.
Payne’s ex Maya Henry has broken her silence as her representative told Daily Mail she is “in shock” at the news.
In a heartfelt message, Paris Hilton expressed her grief: “So upsetting to hear the news of @LiamPayne passing. Sending love and condolences to his family and loved ones. RIP my friend.”
The twin pop duo Jedward, who shared the X Factor spotlight with Payne, also offered their condolences: “RIP Liam Payne. Condolences to friends and family.”
