I am quite excited to kick off my day with a refreshing and expertly crafted pop single. The talented Irish singer-songwriter Robert O’Connor impresses us once more with his latest track, “Something Strange,” which was released on October 11th across all major streaming platforms.
Following the success of his summer single, “Everything You Wanted,” which received high praise from both critics and fans, amassing over 60,000 streams on Spotify and more than 500 playlist placements, he decided to maintain the positive momentum by releasing another hit, “Something Strange.”
The song effortlessly compels you to dance and sway along with the rhythm, and I believe his emotive and powerful vocals play a crucial role in captivating any listener. Additionally, I am truly impressed by the production and arrangement. Upon reviewing the press kit, I realized how dedicated Robert is to his overall output. He is collaborating once again with his producer, Gareth Shortland, who, as Robert describes, has added “the missing puzzle piece.”
Typically, I am drawn to lyrics that emerge spontaneously without prior arrangement. As Robert expressed, “I don’t know if it was the sun, the sea, or something else, but at that moment I felt an inner sense that I was right where I was supposed to be, in life and in love.” He describes the song as “a wave of contentment,” recalling how he penned the lyrics while lounging at a rooftop pool in Barcelona last summer. This unique experience is what truly sets it apart from other pop songs released recently.
In addition to this pop masterpiece, an extended acoustic mix produced by Jordan Arteaga is on the way, complete with a music video directed by Kapture Lab. I’m truly looking forward to it!
