Future.Exboyfriend just released their latest single, and it is just in time for stocking up on those songs to add to our summer playlists for those beach parties, long road trips, and fun evenings.
The trio—Tyler Harris on guitar and vocals; Isaac Paul on bass guitar; and Josh Arena on drums—who are based in Salt Lake City, Utah, have released several singles since 2020. I don’t usually comment on the bands’ names because I believe they evolve from the band’s identity or there’s a personal story behind it, but I love the metaphoric element in their band’s name and its uniqueness.
The band’s musical style is influenced by the likes of MGMT, Tame Impala, and Prince. They’ve been performing live in several venues and have shared the stage with Remi Wolf, Sports, and Pinegrove, and have also joined renowned festivals like UMS Festival, Treefort Music Fest., and Kilby Block Party.
‘Molly’ is about meeting a stranger at a music festival, and it’s a love-at-first-sight kind of moment, and you already feel connected to that person, although you’ve never talked to them before or even know who they are. The song has a very simple and familiar bass line, which keeps the music grounded while the synths add more flavor to the aesthetic, keeping it fun, cheerful, and dancy, while the vocal line gives it a unique identity by using a falsetto vocal style. Check out the band’s Instagram account for more details on their upcoming performances, and their ‘Molly’ is not a song you want to miss this summer.
