The nice, charismatic Parisian Romain Gutsy is back with another charming song, full of precious vibes and a delightful attitude.
Romain Gutsy’s music is difficult to describe. This singer/songwriter has a sound that’s essentially acoustic and organic, bordering on wood, like an antique floor, that’s comfortable, classy, and valuable. His rusty, lighthearted delivery is instantly recognizable with his humorous, easy-handed arrangements and songs. The Girl from Kerry was written in Dublin, earlier in 2022.
Telling a cheeky story about the fiery meeting between a girl from Kerry and a totally anonymous Parisian in Dublin city, and all the heated events that transpired, this song has a bluesy sound that’s fantastically humorous and fitting. Romain’s sound is still in the forefront, with his witty, funny remarks. This time, his delivery is accented by manic yowls and vocalizations in a lengthy instrumental section. The production, courtesy of both Gutsy and Marc Bentel, is a step above the previous songs I heard from Romain Gutsy. More calculated and cohesive, the complicated sound of this blues-folk arrangement is tight, balanced, and properly colored. An endlessly fun offering that’s usual for Romain Gutsy.
This latest song from Gutsy sees him upping his production game with tighter performances and a more intricate and cohesive mix that puts every element where it belongs, add to that the sleazy, humorous story, Romain’s hearty delivery, and the charming songwriting, and you end up with a healthy meal of musical entertainment.
