Running for just a little under 2 minutes, Rob Burgundy’s latest release is Catchy, with a capital C, inspiring, and endlessly entertaining. Well when I say endlessly, I do mean that ‘Whoa’ needed to be a little longer.
Bold flows and hard-hitting lyrics, ‘Whoa’ is the latest single by the Clayton County based hip hop musician Rob Burgundy. Soulful, quirky, novel, and quite fresh, the punchy production and vocal ideas on ‘Whoa’ are undoubtedly brilliant, and quite unique, with charming vibes and restrained, confident deliveries.
The short stunner is based on a descending koto melody that’s at once minimal enough to not interfere with the general minimalism theme of the track, yet memorable enough to leave a clear mark and have a distinctive presence underneath the punchy trap beat and massive sub bass, all working to prop up Burgundy’s subdued deliveries, inspiring lyrics, and his buzzing arrays of Woahs.
‘Woah’ is both fantastic as it is, short, concise, and quick, and in dire need of more.. Woahs. With production as gorgeous as this, lyrics this confident, and ideas this unique, Rob Burgundy’s latest single does not even veer towards disappointing, which is hard to pull off being a song this pretty and this short.
