Sometimes music can paint a story worth millions of colors, full to the brim with emotions, rattled with artistic scenery after another…all through sound, music, rhythms, beats and melodies…and this could not be more true that what Parisian artis SLDGHRAM 1ER did with the album “Le marteau et l’enclume”.
The French artist manages to fuse three genres of music that you’d probably not hear together, which includes hardcore/gabber, classical music and ambient…all in one musical journey of an album.
The artist describes the “Le marteau et l’enclume, which translate to “The hammer and the anvil” as it “focuses on the difficulty of creating, maintaining, or even grieving human
relationships, but also dealing with ourselves in the process. While the general mood of the album is rather cold, it always keeps in mind, with some of the titles, that no matter how dark days are, there’s room to deal with it with wit and a good sense of humor, like one of the title track addressing Medusa’s complicated relationship with mirrors”
The album takes a deep electronic explorative dive into the musical realm and manages to create stories, fully realized musical stories that can actually be heard separately…but for the maximum effect it’s advised to hear the 8 songs of the album together as they are laid out for the complete experience…
…an experience that starts with “Battre l’enfer tant qu’il est chaud”…with its suboceanic ambient mood and sinister vibes, it captured our hearts…this creates a film like mood, instantly…then the beat jumps in, a very techno-vibing beat that changes everything, taking us from the ambient depths of the ocean to a the melodic progression of the surface…the energy pumps while maintaining the sinister underlying vibes…
Jumping into “Tous, tels les traces de pas dans le sable apres la tempete” a song that doesn’t dwell much on the ambient part of the intro and kicks into techno/dance beats almost right away…with dark and deep bass lines clicking into the groove with the groovebox beats and rhythms, it creates a unique mantra-like musical mood…with its second half leaning more into the melodic with dark and mysterious melodies.
SLDGHRAM 1ER manages to create some excellent ambient intros, pretty amazing, very heavy with storytelling elements…while also managing to create music that will make everyone vibe, move and dance…
…there is also a more melodic side to all of this, with a track like “Faire sang blanc”, SLDGHRAM 1ER creates a very iconic and moody musical scene with many melodic and ambiguous underlying tones…it’s a 2 minute track that really shakes up the whole mood, diversity and ups the engagement levels of the whole album listening experience.
“Le marteau et l’enclume” is a cinematic/techno experience that is not to be missed by any adventurous music explorer…make sure to jump into the unique musical world that SLDGHRAM 1ER created with his unique album.
We wish SLDGHRAM 1ER all the best in the world…can’t wait to hear more of his musical explorations…keep adventuring.
Cheers!
