Rockstar attitude…
Doesn’t care what anyone thinks…
He’s his own boss…
A renegade…
Sage Suede is an absolute blast to be around and enjoy his entertainment experience…
Yes, this is a made-up word, a fusion between art and entertainment…you probably got it right away.
Sage is a force to be reckoned with from Austin, Texas…and he just released an out-of-bounds, no limits, free for all aptly named album called “Renegade”.
“Renegade” has 11 tracks, with only the exception of 1 track, the rest are all explicit.
Sage has some shockingly fresh lyrics…and he does the delivery his own way, he doesn’t try to appeal to anyone…
The album has many vibes throughout its 11-song journey.
…hints of rock, alt-rock, pop, hip hop…some lo-fi tunes here and there…it’s an experimental fusion of many styles, many vibes, and many ideas…that work together to give us a genuine Sage Suede experience…an out-of-bounds one.
Sage has always written all his songs…and this is his 4th album.
“Renegade” is all about being cool, awesome, a star… not caring about what other people think…being yourself, and putting yourself out there.
The whole album is an experience…and let’s jump into that experience right away…
Starting with the first track in the album “New Diet”…
…the album starts out with a downbeat but sonically powerful intro…but everything is disrupted once the vocals kick in…it goes into overdrive, with a bass’n’drums mood to it.
Going into the second track “My Dank Is Deadly”… has some fresh experimental sounds going on…it still maintains the bass’n’drums feel to it and walks close to the previous track.
Moving to a completely different mood with the third track “Just Trippin”…
This song has a strong thematic musical hook…with a brass section.
It feels huge and cinematic and the vocal even feels more cinematic…with a more dreamy feel to the vocals.
The next track, the fourth one, is the only non-explicit song in the album and it’s called “Lil Peach”…
It has a very catchy chord progression that has a bit of a lo-fi feel to it…brilliant.
…and it also has a bridge that has a more jazz lo-fi mood to it…
This is a very melodic song, which reminds me of “LMFAO” style, a more upbeat feeling fills the air around the song right away.
The fifth track “Thief In Blue” is a fusion between horror trap and some rock elements.
The horror comes from both the childish sound of the counter melody in the background during the bridge and also from the actual music…creepy.
“Weed Cookies” is the sixth track, and it is full of 90s music charm.
…with some cool guitar licks and some 90s-sounding drum beats…Sage delivers an alternative performance bit with this one.
The seventh track is titled “You Go Girl”…a fusion of dance, rock, and hip-hop.
…once again, we experience a fusion between rock and drum’n’bass, it’s nothing that we’ve heard before outside of this album, this experience can only be had here with Sage’s “Renegade” album.
Going into “Funked Out In Cocky Fresh” the eighth track…a jazz-inspired, electro hip hop song…
You simply can’t put Sage in a box…he’ll break out of it easily.
The electric piano chords are mellow and smooth.
The ninth song…might have us censor its title a little bit…it’s called “Suck My D*** With Rock Candy”…and it walks in similar footsteps of the previous song…it has smooth jazz elements…this time around with some brass action too…along with experimental sounds.
“Gushy Kush Girl” is a trap and hip-hop fusion wrapped in a melodic structure. It’s smartly put as the tenth track of the album…I personally believe it’s been put there strategically. It changes everything.
We now have reached the end of our journey with the eleventh track of the album titled “Put a Towel Down Bro”.
…this song has summer vibes to it…the smooth piano riff…the tropical trap drum beats…the vocal performance and the background vocals.
“Put a Towel Down Bro” is very different in that it is the most straightforward song in the album…it’s very melodic and less experimental.
“Renegade” is a unique and out-of-the-box experimental album…mostly.
We definitely recommend checking “Renegade” out if you’re into trap, hip-hop, or experimental experiences…and if you’re into lo-fi melodic songs, we also recommend specially “Put a Towel Down Bro”…go check “Renegade” now, it’s available everywhere online.
Sage, you’re an explosive artist, we wish you all the luck in the world and we’ll be on the lookout for your new projects.
Cheers!
