Maya Yenn, British singer/songwriter/producer announces her upcoming music video set to be released on December 30th for her third and latest single “Better Luck Next Time” previously released last June. It gained success with over 10k plays on Spotify by getting picked on BBC 6 Music’s “Introducing Mixtape” in July and made Pick of the week on BBC Radio 1 in August.

With a musical career that just took off last year, Maya is achieving success after success. Her first single “tiptoe” released back in 2021 has now more than 37k plays on Spotify and was selected for BBC 6 Music’s BBC Introducing Mixtape, while her second single “How Much Sadness Can You Swallow?” got track of the week by BBC radio derby and won best music video at the British independent film festival 2022. Aside from being a sensational artist Maya also curates her cover art and writes/produces her music videos.

“Better Luck Next Time” is a dark-pop song powered by a groovy bass accompanied by Maya’s melodic vocals and dark lyrics. The song tells the story of a businessman who prioritizes work over everything. Even while the plane he is traveling on is crashing, he is still working to make the deadline. Without spoiling the details, the music video tells the tale of the businessman in a colorful theme as Maya portrays him with lyrical queues that change the scenery and the choreography. The colors are eye pleasing and the movements are engaging with dance choreography in the chorus that forces the viewer to dance along to it. Keep an eye out for the beat drop scene as she sings “billowing smoke and punctured lung” as it’s one of the scenes that caught my attention.
