Escort by 12 limbs

There’s always something special about good eastern European dance and electropop songs. They are just a little better than the competition. Just so ready to be blasted, remixed, sampled, and danced to.

12 Limbs are an indie pop band from the Serbian capital, Belgrade. Fusing indie guitar charm with just a touch of moderate electronica, they certainly managed to create a sound that’s theirs, but also familiar and easily accessible. Their latest single, Escort, leans heavily on the electronic side of the recipe. Promising to be a massive summer hit and a staple across the global dance scene.

Listening in, it’s easy to spot just where this confidence sprang from. A driving, mild-tempo electronic beat leads the arrangement onward with sure feet. The composition is perfectly balanced yet playful. The choruses and the verses blend seamlessly with a few borrowed chords that provide the meal with just enough spice, and a number of very attractive sonic effects and manipulations fizzle in and out of view. A masterful arrangement that gives up just enough, not too little, and definitely not too much. The words are a little brash. The message is very resonant, and the singing is cheeky and colorful, but the choice of words may have faltered just a little here and there.

An overall exciting electropop, a danceable banger, with a ton of merit and potential. 12 Limbs have secured a place for themselves on our radar, and we’ll be impatiently waiting for more.

Most of the time I’m listening to music. When I’m not, I’m playing music. When I’m not, I’m thinking about doing those things.
