The Coaticook-based singer/songwriter and producer, Marcus Quirion, is giving us a glimpse of his next album with the fresh-sounding and spirit-lifting single, “Filet désert.”
I have a thing for French songs, although I don’t speak French. So, I don’t know if I can be mutual here because I instantly loved Marcus Quirion’s “Filet désert” once I heard it. However, I don’t think the reason is being in French; it’s because of how atmospheric and a complete mood booster it is. It would be a good start to your day!
“Filet désert” is a Pop/Soft Rock hybrid song that sounds as joyful and liberating as the giggles coming while swaying carelessly on a swing, leaving all troubles behind, and seeming small from a higher view. It opens with a mellow synth tune and raw, delightful vocals that, as it develops, sound like sarcastic rap-ish delivery. It’s surely one of the key elements that gives that feel-good energy. Also, grooving with the rhythms is obligatory, as what choice do you have with these elated hooks and kicky percussions?
Obviously, I didn’t understand the lyrics, but I could notice how they were neatly written, and I didn’t have to learn them to feel the good vibe. But as I’m an enthusiast for languages, I looked up the lyrics for full enjoyment, and I found out that it’s a sincere, realistic storytelling, which might be Marcus Quirion’s personal experience, but it’s highly relatable.
The single is arranged in the most light-hearted manner, leaving you with a smile on your face, anticipating the rest of the album.
