Back in December 2021, Christopher True (guitar/bass) joined forces with
Dom Hopson (guitar/bass/synth/production) creating Hailing Ishimura. With a wide range of influences ranging from The Beatles and Bowie to Lamb of God and Red Sparowes, the duo released their single “If You Get This, Follow Our Beacons” as a part of their upcoming record so, let’s see what this is all about.
“If You Get This, Follow Our Beacon” starts with a low-key spacey intro with post-rock meets space rock vibes before it transitions into an open sound with soothing fluid synth melodies. These melodies softly build up into a heavier, bigger theatrical sound with pounding drums and a touching electric guitar solo. The guitar tone choice was perfect and backed by a subtle escalating ambient sound that kept on growing until it led us to a heavy cinematic outro that resolved that unique sonic journey.
“If You Get This, Follow Our Beacon” is an impressive sound trip led by Hailing Ishimura. They succeeded in creating such an interesting enjoyable experience without the listener losing focus or feeling bored and using the least number of arrangements or layers so the listener won’t get confused, all depending on flowing melodies and organic progressions. Looking forward to more interesting releases from Hailing Ishimura, I’ll be keeping an eye on them and I suggest you do too, cheers!
