Recorded live from her hometown in Canada, multi-awarded Canadian singer/songwriter Tara MacLean explores sentiments of patriarchy, melancholy, and lyrical brilliance through intimate live performances in her latest EP “Live in My Hometown”.

Dubbed as “Emmylou Harris, Phoebe Bridgers and Dido” merged together around a bonfire in a “moon-lit forest”, MacLean’s soft vocals echoing on stage in the EP provides the full 360 experience of what you might encounter at one of her live shows.

Tracklist:

  1. Beneath the Path of Crows
  2. Lay Here in the Dark
  3. London Bridge
  4. Silence
  5. This Storm

“This is my first live release since Live at the Roots Lodge 25 years ago!” shared MacLean in retrospect. “There was a palpable connection across the stage and audience that evening, that was beyond any previous live  experiences in two decades of touring. I’m buzzing to now share it with a wider audience”.

“Live in My Hometown” truly encapsulates MacLean’s genius artistry of both writing incredible music and having an impeccable voice on stage. The gentle acoustic guitar sounds accompanying her syrupy sweet vocals create a perfect embodiment of why she has numerous awards under her belt by notable award houses in Canada, especially her hometown in the Prince Edward Island.

The only missing element is actually seeing her perform! We were dying to catch her relive iconic tracks such as the mellow “Lay Here in the Dark” or the daring “Silence” (which features effortless switches from chest to head voice in a controlled demeanor) in real time. Possibly a next project, coming soon?

Speaking of upcoming ventures, MacLean is working on a new album with producers from across the pond in the UK, along with US and Canada, which is set to be released in early 2025. MacLean has also finished a sold-out UK tour in the summer of 2024, and is getting ready for upcoming festivals across Europe.

With releases like “Live in My Hometown”, MacLean is proving to be a force to be reckoned with. Autotune? Forget about it!
