In the ghetto and into the slums, a ‘Mentally Drained’ rapper and Hip-Hop artist Descendent from New York released his album ‘Mentally Drained’ Which has maintained the old school vibe.

A powerful jaw-dropping, attention grappling is the start of this rebellious art, the first track ‘Riot’ is a crude Hip-Hop track and time travels back for 20 years at least, the whole thing in this track is classic! The old-school beat and bass form an all-authentic touch accompanied by the heavy flow of Descendent and beat domination using powerful, rage lyrics against racism, societal stereotype, and the governmental system. A well-chosen show opener.

The second track ‘Outta My Face’ with a bit of a modern theme compared to the previous track and sincerely with a less interesting lyrical theme yet Descendent kept his unique flow.

My second favorite track of this album is ‘What you Drinking On?’ a storyteller featuring Justin Carter introduced in the form of a silly beat and light flow UNTIL the whole story is altered and the views of the storyteller are completely different as he starts to despise his actions having lured that girl in the club and got her wasted. But I believe the second part should’ve been more emotional in tone, as the rapper couldn’t show his regret, yet the lyrics saved the situation.

Ig Dms’ the fourth track is adequate in our reality, knowing people through social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook and going into a relationship that would never work from the beginning but insisting though until the whole thing goes off.

Still stuck in the relationship part with the fifth track ‘Space’ featuring Iamchelseaiam storytelling how relationships between the two could go rough and a desperate place to be with a sad themed beat and regretful and a bit furious rapping using much accurate lyrics and situations, I wondered “Did I write these lyrics?” but I thought how could many relationships have the same conflicts within haha!

Job Well Done featuring Rob Laray, is a remarkable track when closing to the end of the album displaying the conflict one might have against the society that always despises the normal ordinary lower class people and gives a pat on the back! Descendent needed to have more emotions in his voice and try to alter his flow to match the lyrical theme and try not to maintain the same flow despite the changing lyrical themes.

Last but not least, ‘Losing My Way’ back again as it started with another classic Hip-Hop themed track dedicated to new york’s signature theme stereotyped in movies usually and shows the struggle of a Virginian in the city of dreams and the rage he is feeling and disappointment.

Mentally Drained’ is great storytelling and self-expressing album with all that sincere lyrics and crude raw classic beats, bringing our ears to live once again for the music we almost forgot.

Great work by Descendent, or should I say ‘Job Well Done?
