If A Woman Had Made The World by Chris Oledude

0

This one has a backstory worth knowing. New York artist Chris Oledude originally wrote “If A Woman Had Made The World” back in 1983, dedicating it to his late mother, Ethel Werfel Owens. It appeared on a cassette release in 1984, recorded on an 8-track board with a guitar solo by Clyde Spillenger – a Princeton grad who went on to join UCLA’s law faculty and still considers himself a jazz guitarist in a law professor’s body. Four decades later, Oledude has revisited the song, this time as a proper duet featuring vocalist Kiena Williams, with Spillenger returning for another solo. The dedication has since been updated to include Oledude‘s late wife, Sandra E. Dixon, who passed away in 2019. It came out on February 23rd.

Subtlety is not part of the vocabulary here. The song’s intro is as blunt as a message can be – the world around us is messed up, and we need to find a better way. This prompts the long, colorful musical journey they take us on, as we imagine what a world created by a woman would be like. Musically, the song features the signature Chris Oledude sound, similar to the one I previously covered from him, “Rainbow Soul”, with a huge ensemble of soulful musicians coming together to create a colorful explosion of rhythm and harmony.

Kiena Williams was clearly the right call for this one. The song was always built around the idea of a powerful female voice at its center, and this version finally gets there. Forty-plus years in the making, and it sounds like it.

Night Wolf + Lois Powell Unveil Evocative Single “Death of the Wolf” on EscaVolt Records

0

Night Wolf and Lois Powell, the dynamic duo from Bedfordshire and Norfolk, release their haunting new single “Death of the Wolf,” the second chapter in their burgeoning collaboration. Available now on all major streaming platforms, this emotionally charged track blends Night Wolf‘s genre-defying production with Lois Powell‘s unguarded, ethereal vocals, creating a sonic experience born from personal reflection and creative synergy.

Night Wolf, hailing from the town of Luton and now based in Bedfordshire, met Lois Powell at a local open mic night. After their successful first collaboration on “Lost My Way Home,” Night Wolf invited Lois back to complete the half-written lyrics for “Death of the Wolf.” Lois contributed the second part, infusing the song with her unique perspective. Despite the geographical distance, their partnership has flourished, with four songs completed so far and more in progress.

“I wrote this song and finished it during a very difficult time in my life as my mother passed away,” shares Night Wolf. “It drove me to complete the half-finished song and allowed me to pour my sadness into it. I was also going back and forth to a local quiet church where they had a piano I was playing, and a part came to me whilst there. However, the lyrics are not reflecting this period and are not about the passing; the lyrics I wrote until Lois took over were very much a self-reflection of how I felt or still feel.”

No specific influences come to mind for this release, as it emerged from a dark place and life experiences. Subconsciously shaped by a lifetime of music, the track embodies Night Wolf‘s style of blending genres into his own take. This release stands out as the second on EscaVolt Records, Night Wolf‘s newly formed label, launched in December 2025. Having released nine albums through Italian partners Flipper Music, Deneb Records, and Barry Music since 2018, this marks a significant shift to self-releasing, allowing Night Wolf full control over his artistic presentation.

The recording primarily occurred at Night Wolf‘s home studio, with the poignant piano addition captured in a serene, empty church—leveraging his equipment for an echoey ambiance. This tied into his work establishing No Paw Audio, a sound effect and foley company building catalogs of global sounds at www.nopawaudio.co.uk.

Looking ahead, the duo plans a music video for “Death of the Wolf” before pursuing venues and festivals. While focused on TV/film/game sync placements and building an album’s worth of material, they remain open to live opportunities. Night Wolf envisions performing the track with a live orchestra one day.

Death of the Wolf” is now streaming, inviting listeners to immerse in its introspective depth.

REFLECTIONS, ON TIME AND MEMORY

0

With its contemplative tone and atmospheric soundscape, “Time” unfolds as a thoughtful meditation on the elusive nature of memory and the passage of time. The single from Allentown-based artist AZA moves between contemporary R&B, soul, and pop, creating a sonic space that feels both intimate and expansive.

The track opens with shimmering synth textures that ripple gently beneath the surface, establishing a dreamy, almost cosmic mood. This spacious production, built around a beat from Lebanon Don Beats and recorded at MB Pro Studios in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, creates a subtle sense of movement, allowing the emotional core of the song to take center stage.

At the heart of the release lies a deeply personal narrative. AZA explores themes of reflection, isolation, and the longing to reclaim or rewrite moments from the past. The lyrics hint at personal experiences that shaped the artist’s outlook on time, transforming the track into a confessional piece that invites listeners to project their own memories onto its meaning.

AZA delivers the song with a quiet intensity. Her tone carries both vulnerability and clarity, guiding the melody with an expressive touch that feels natural rather than overly polished. The recording itself reportedly came together quickly in the studio, and that spontaneity adds to the authenticity that flows through the performance.

A subtle nod to musical inspiration also appears within the track. AZA draws influence from Prince, particularly the reflective spirit of Sign “O” the Times, even weaving a lyrical reference to the legendary artist into the song as a quiet tribute.

AZA’s “Time” stands out for its openness. Rather than offering definitive answers, it lingers in the questions surrounding memory, healing, and the moments we wish we could revisit. The result is a reflective piece that feels less like a conventional single and more like a sonic diary entry, one that encourages listeners to pause, reflect, and consider their own relationship with time.

Dust and Grace Turn Backyard Dreams Into Country Gold with “Trailer Park Paradise” — Out February 20

0

PITTSBURGH, PA — February 20th marks the release of “Trailer Park Paradise,” the irresistible new country single from Dust and Grace. Written by Michael Stover and drawn from the project’s forthcoming self-titled debut LP (out March 23), the track is a sun-soaked celebration of love, laughter, and making the most of what you’ve got—even if what you’ve got is a single-wide and a plastic kiddie pool.

With its breezy melody, tongue-in-cheek charm, and nods to Jimmy Buffett escapism, “Trailer Park Paradise” transforms everyday backyard life into a tropical state of mind. Instead of jetting off to the Bahamas, the song’s narrator finds freedom closer to home—dumping the sandbox, filling the kid’s pool, icing down homemade beer, and cranking up island vibes under a wide-open summer sky.

“Let’s dump the sandbox, fill the kid’s pool / Put that homemade beer on ice / We’ll play some Buffett and drink tequila / In our trailer park paradise.”

At its heart, the song is more than a clever country novelty. It’s a reminder that the best things in life—sunshine, moonlight, and the right person by your side—don’t cost a dime. With playful imagery of pink flamingos, picnic-table buffets, and music floating through humid July air, “Trailer Park Paradise” captures the warmth of simple pleasures and the enduring spirit of small-town America.

Dust and Grace is a Pittsburgh-based project showcasing the songwriting of Michael Stover. Though rooted in country tradition, the project blends heartfelt storytelling with uplifting, faith-infused themes and modern country polish. The project has already built impressive momentum, earning:

  • Two Top 10 Amazon Music Country Gospel hits
  • Two Top 15 CDX Nashville chart hits
  • Two UK iTunes Country chart hits
  • A #1 Independent Music Network Country chart single
  • Independent Music Network Award for Best Inspirational Song (“Hallelujah”)

Following the success of their award-winning and chart-topping releases, “Trailer Park Paradise” introduces a lighter, more playful side of Dust and Grace—without sacrificing the authenticity that has resonated with fans worldwide.

The self-titled debut LP, arriving March 23, promises a collection of songs that balance inspiration, heart, humor, and down-home honesty. If “Trailer Park Paradise” is any indication, listeners can expect a record filled with relatable storytelling and melodies built for open windows and long summer drives.

“Trailer Park Paradise” is available February 20th on all major streaming platforms.

A Concert Series with a Purpose

The Love Tattoo Foundation is a registered non-profit organization dedicated to honoring and assisting American veterans who carry mental or physical scars from their service. Its mission is to raise funds and awareness to help give veterans the opportunities they sacrificed so that others could enjoy theirs.

The foundation was born from a deeply moving moment. Law enforcement officer Charles “Chuck” Brisbin was inspired by the story of a young soldier who returned from Afghanistan disfigured. Wanting to honor his sacrifice, Brisbin wrote a poem titled Love Tattoo. He then asked Richard Lynch — known for his deep respect for America’s military — to bring the poem to life as a song. The emotional impact was immediate and profound, often moving veterans to tears. From that powerful collaboration, a larger calling emerged.

Recognizing that many veterans aged 18 to 81 carry lifelong scars without a dedicated organization addressing their unique needs, Lynch, Brisbin, and supporters took a stand. The Love Tattoo Foundation works to ensure these heroes are lifted up and honored — not forgotten.

Keeping Tradition Alive

Keepin’ It Country Farm, located at 5329 Township Line Rd., Waynesville, Ohio, is more than a venue. It is a working farm, home to Richard and Donna Lynch, and a living tribute to traditional country music, agriculture, and the American rural lifestyle. The property houses The Ohio Country Music Hall of Fame, the Traditionally Lynch TV and radio programs, and serves as headquarters for the Love Tattoo Foundation.

Richard and Donna Lynch remain steadfast in their mission: preserving country music “as it was meant to be” while giving back to veterans and the local community.

“We are driven to succeed in our daily business endeavors to support the traditions of the American farmer, the rural lifestyle, and of course the continuation and history of true country music,” they share. “Our goal is to always ‘Keep It Country.’”

With a lineup featuring bluegrass royalty, Grand Ole Opry legends, and rising traditionalists, the 2026 Love Tattoo Foundation Benefit Concert Series is poised to be the farm’s biggest season yet.

Lisa Jo Unveils Raw and Resilient Album “Hood Rats” Amid Personal Triumph Over Adversity

0

Lisa Jo, the resilient singer-songwriter whose music emerges from the depths of profound loss and unyielding spirit, releases her deeply personal album “Hood Rats.” This collection of tracks channels raw emotion, pain, and anger into powerful anthems across multiple genres, marking a transformative chapter in her life. Born from a moment of despair turned inspiration, “Hood Rats” stands as a testament to music’s healing power, showcasing Lisa Jo‘s authentic voice and lyrical prowess that has already garnered over 180,000 followers across social media in just five months.

Lisa Jo‘s journey is one of extraordinary perseverance. A former nurse supervisor at the New York State Department of Health, she balanced a demanding career with raising her family until a battle with blood/bone marrow cancer forced her into early retirement two years ago. Compounded by the unexpected loss of her husband, father, sister, brother, best friend, and mother—all within the past two years—she found herself caring for her remaining family: a blind sister with cerebral palsy and an epileptic sister, while grappling with her own health. In her darkest hour, contemplating giving up, Lisa Jo heard a song that mirrored her soul: “God, don’t give up on me yet… I know I’m not your best bet, but I’m trying.” This pivotal moment breathed new life into her, igniting a creative fire that led to over 50 songs released in a matter of months.

“Music has been the fuel that keeps my fire burning my entire life,” shares Lisa Jo. “It has held me through trauma, loss, pain, and hardships most can’t even imagine. I wrote and published my life story, ‘The Hands That Held Me,’ which was #1 new release for six months and a bestseller for three years. But after losing everything, music literally saved my life. I wake each day, write lyrics, create music, and let the rest take care of itself. The sky is the limit, and I feel so blessed for the love and support.”

“Hood Rats” delves into themes of survival, resilience, and self-discovery, drawing from Lisa Jo‘s lived experiences. The album blends genres seamlessly, reflecting her eclectic influences and emotional depth. As she prepares for a mandatory, high-risk surgery in the coming weeks to address a buildup of harmful cells in her throat, vocal cords, and larynx—under the care of specialists at South Florida University Hospital—Lisa Jo shares this work with urgency and hope. The procedure carries real dangers, including potential loss of life or voice, but her music remains her legacy of strength.

Currently in discussions with promoters, publishers, managers, and sync managers for what promises to be a groundbreaking sync publishing deal, Lisa Jo‘s momentum is unstoppable. “Hood Rats” is now available on all major streaming platforms, inviting listeners to connect with her story and find their own healing.

About Lisa Jo

Lisa Jo is a singer-songwriter whose music transforms personal pain into universal anthems of hope and resilience. Author of the bestselling memoir “The Hands That Held Me,” she has released over 50 songs in multiple genres, amassing a dedicated following of over 180,000 on social media. Rooted in her experiences as a survivor of cancer, profound loss, and hardship, her work celebrates the power of music to heal and inspire. Music is nothing without ears to hear it and hearts to love it.

A RADIANT SURGE OF CONFIDENCE!

0

There’s something striking about a song that doesn’t beg for attention; it commands it. The latest release from The Vildes, Icon, arrives not as a whisper, but as a fully realized presence: sleek, cinematic, and unapologetically self-assured.

Hailing from Oslo, the trio continues to refine their alternative pop and electronic sensibilities with a sound that feels both expansive and intimate. The production opens with polished synth textures that shimmer rather than explode, creating a sense of poised anticipation. There’s intention in the restraint. Space is used as power.

As the beat settles in, crisp percussion and a steady electronic pulse give the track its forward momentum. It moves confidently, never rushed, never cluttered. Subtle tonal shifts between light and shadow add emotional dimension, allowing the arrangement to breathe while maintaining its high-voltage energy. The result is immersive without being overwhelming.

Vocally, the performance is layered and luminous. Harmonies glide effortlessly across the electronic backdrop, warm yet commanding. The verses feel reflective, almost inward-looking, before opening into a chorus that lifts with clarity and strength. It’s the kind of hook that stays with you, not because it shouts, but because it knows exactly where it stands.

The message is rooted in self-possession. This is not surface-level empowerment; it’s about inhabiting your own space fully and without apology. There’s a modern edge woven through the track, a dark shimmer paired with radiant defiance, that gives it depth beyond its polished exterior.

What makes this release compelling is its balance. It merges Scandinavian pop precision with flashes of hyperpop boldness, yet remains emotionally grounded. It feels ready for a festival stage, but equally suited for solitary late-night listening, the kind of track that becomes a personal reminder of inner strength.

With this single, The Vildes’ Icon sharpen their artistic identity even further. Confident, textured, and meticulously crafted, the song easily stands as a radiant surge of confidence: controlled, electrifying, and impossible to ignore.

Dear Hip Hop by zO-AlonzO

0

Bethlehem, PA rapper zO-AlonzO dropped “Dear Hip Hop” back in February 2024 to mark the 50th anniversary of hip-hop. Produced by Dreamlife, recorded in one take, and mixed and mastered in a single afternoon at MBpro Studios by award-winning engineer Meatbeatz, the track weaves in references to Grandmaster Flash, Nas, Eminem, Tupac, Biggie, and Big L – not as name drops but as actual wordplay, folding their names, albums, and songs into punchlines and metaphors the way old-school lyricism demands. It performed to critical acclaim at a sold-out show at ArtsQuest at SteelStacks.

This track is an honest love letter to the genre and to the art form that has changed so many people’s lives, including zO-AlonzO‘s and mine. This art form gives people a voice unlike any other music, which is because of its emphasis on words and lyricism; its verbosity is why it works. This is what hip-hop is, and zO-AlonzO recognizes what hip-hop really is. It’s those who spoke their mind in a beautifully poetic way over simple and memorable beats, not the abomination of mumble rap that’s almost a bizarre Frankenstein combination of lazy pop and something that vaguely resembles hip-hop. zO-AlonzO delivers his love letter with the same ferocity, honesty, and heart as the songs and artists he admired so much.

“Dear Hip Hop” closes with a spoken word outro that lands with genuine gratitude rather than performance, which feels right for a track this personal. Personally, I’m waiting to see what zO-AlonzO does next.
