Set Me Free by Jack Horton

0

Jack Horton’s pop country new single ‘Set Me Free’ is emotive, melodic, and quite beautiful. A stunning song that’s rich and radio-ready.

As a part of the Portland, Oregon-based singer and songwriter’s second EP, Imperfections, ‘Set Me Free’ is quite a gorgeous piece of music. With its classical pop poignancy, ‘Set Me Free’ takes you back to the harmonic richness of Julio Iglesias and Morris Albert, while keeping you grounded in its modern and polished production, elegantly combining the two eras in a fresh and engaging pop atmosphere.

Romantic and laced with melancholy, ‘Set Me Free’ is a heartbreaking song full of melodic twists and stirring chord changes, and being in part inspired by Horton’s life-altering divorce, there’s a stark and moving sense of honesty to each note and syllable played and sung by Horton on this song. As a bilingual person who resides in Tokyo, Japan, and following his previous 4-song EP The Tokyo Sessions, which consisted of songs in Japanese, it is perhaps easy to spot the influence of Japan’s abundant affinity towards tearjerker melodies and saccharine chord sequences that are often loaded with drama.

‘Set Me Free’ features a lovely arrangement of subdued piano chords, lush strings, a solid rhythmic base of a laid-back groove, and a supportive bass croons. Horton’s belts are heartfelt and capable, showcasing, alongside his piano skills, a talented and soulful singer, and with the song’s ballad-like structure, ‘Set Me Free’ ends up checking all the boxes to be a colorful pop anthem that is made to last.

Boulevard de l’amour “Fall in love” by Gianfranco GFN

0

Swiss arranger and composer Gianfranco GFN never missed a beat with us on his previous releases. A songwriter who is consistently imaginative and undeniably bold, Gianfranco’s songs are always a joyous occasion to sit down and dive deep into, peeling layers, exploring crisp harmonies, and savoring delicious deliveries, and his latest cut ‘Boulevard de l’amour “Fall in love”’ fits the bill.

Based in Bienne in Switzerland, Gianfranco is an all-around musician. A guitarist, composer, and songwriter who arranges some truly neat and tight instrumental palettes with surgical precision that make each of his listens stand out in a different way to the others. On ‘Boulevard de l’amour “Fall in love”’, Gianfranco GFN utilizes the infinitely rich and Bowie-esque vocals of frequent collaborator Vladimir Carbone, in a vocal performance that seems to be among the best in Gianfranco’s career to this point.

Alongside Carbone’s soulful and flamboyant yells, we will find the consistent support from the back vocals of Evgenia Vieira, a truly solid drum and bass groove that comes courtesy of David Caraccio’s bass and Nicolas Pittet’ drum kit. Among the song’s most outstanding sections is a midsection synth solo that is delicately played with masterful hands, and an uber-colorful chorus that features glistening pianos and a chord sequence that melts the clouds away.

The jazz and funk elements ‘Boulevard de l’amour “Fall in love”’ make it one of Gianfranco’s most ambitious and definitely one of his best sounding releases to date. A truly outstanding piece of genre-hopping soul that is made with love.

Album: Ényì by Echezona

0

A colorful, soulful, and upbeat selection of afrobeat, R&B, and hip-hop tunes by the talented Echezona, Enyi is a fantastic listen from start to finish. A beautifully crafted and crisply finished product of pristine quality, Enyi is very easy to fall for.

A culmination of years of hard work and dedication to his craft, Enyi is Echezona’s latest release, produced and recorded at JPRiSM’s Boston, Massachusetts. Enyi is loaded with profound lyrics and calming tunes that are all uniformly colored in afrobeat’s soothing syncopated beats and puffy drum sounds, alongside the genre’s immense focus on melodies and upbeat and soulful flows.

Among the album’s 9 original tunes, ranging from the sunny and bright to the downtempo and melancholic, there are clear standouts that feature exceptional lyrical, rhythmic, or melodic ideas. Among those are definitely the starter, aptly titled ‘Amazing’. ‘Amazing’ is a peppy and lovable piece of pop-infused afrobeat that glistens with its melodic pizzicato riff, a standout throughout the album. ‘Amazing’ introduces Echezona’s sweet and flirty lyrics, as well as his affinity for prominent melodies, and JPRiZM’s production skills. From the first moments of the album, it gets pretty clear that we are about to embark on a fulfilling and beautiful-sounding trip.

‘Truthfully’ doubles down on the chill, downtempo afrobeat cues with its minimal instrumental, distinctive percussion, wealth of vocal layering, and with the song’s general affinity for softness and gentle nature. ‘Truthfully’ is one of the album’s prettiest cuts, with some of its most catchy hooks and compelling lyrics. The melancholy thickens with ‘Flaws’, the album’s 4th cut. ‘Flaws’ features the album’s most addictive vocal parts. Soft and accessible, ‘Flaws’ has a wealth of vocal layers that elevate the cut alongside the syncopated beat, wooden synth bass, a litany of breezy synth melodies that populate the background, and some of the album’s most heartfelt and real lyrics.

‘Evolve’ is the most summer-ready cut on the album. With its palm-muted overdriven riff driving the song with surgical precision, filling the mix almost single-handedly, ‘Evolve’ moves forward at a delicate pace that is held together via Echezona’s addictive flows and lines. The penultimate ‘Wetin Dey Happen?’ features the album’s quickest pace and one of its most involved arrangements. With its intricate, fast-paced, and syncopated beat, and busy synth and guitar riffs, ‘Wetin Dey Happen?’ is just slightly cacophonous, with JPRiZM’s masterful hands keeping the mix perfectly balanced, a difficult trick to pull for a cut that is as bustling as this one.

Enyi features some truly striking songwriting alongside profound and thoughtful lyrics that do justify, on their own, giving this short and sweet album a try. Echezona comes across as a mature artist with a distinct and well-defined sound, working alongside a talented collaborator who effortlessly brings all his songs to life, and that is producer JPRiZM. Enyi is a fantastic joint release that is wholly ready to receive a hot and sandy summer season, knocking right at the door.

Album: The Compilation Album by Raynald Grenier

0

Raynald Grenier is an accomplished composer who has dedicated his life’s work to the delicate art of carrying the musical and spiritual heritage of Mozart, Mahler, and Beethoven into the current age with his ballets, sonatas, and symphonies, best and most emotive of which were compiled into today’s compilation album, an expansive journey through some of the composer’s most celebrated works.

Based in Quebec City, Canada, Grenier is a classical composer whose captivating sound has been crystallized into the 12 pieces that populate this album. A blend of breezy, emotive, spellbinding, and heartbreaking romantic-era compositions that are endlessly rich in their colorful palette of timbres and astonishing fluidity of melodies and harmonies, all of which reflect the immense talent of Grenier.

The Compilation Album can be safely described as composed of 2 halves, 2 moods, or 2 faces. One face exudes with serene, hopeful beauty through Grenier’s gentle piano arpeggios, the other is melancholic and tragic. Pieces 1, 3, and 5, titled ‘Dolci Momenti’, ‘Doux Instants’, and ‘Canon in E Flat’, respectively, fall neatly into the breezy and heartwarming first category, interjected by ‘The Fortress’ and ‘Nostalgia’, pieces 2 and 4, respectively. With the wealth of woodwinds and ethereal sounding strings on the starter, and the intentionally minimalist ‘Doux Instants’, it is clear that Raynald Greneir’s compositional abilities are easily matched by his ear for balanced and calculated arrangements.

‘Requiem – Reprise’, an opera, is an intense piece that features vocals, the first instance of vocals on the album, that range from an operatic alto female voice to a troubadour laying poetry. A dichotomy that makes this reprise one worth paying close attention to its multitude of layers that gradually continue to unfold as the piece progresses. ‘Wrath of the Gods’ and ‘Sonatina in C Sharp’ could not be more different; the thunderous and saturated arrangement of the first, as well as its haunting waltz mystique, gets mirrored right away with the Sonatina’s child-like simplicity reflected in the easygoing melodic rhythm and simplistic, solo piano arrangement. ‘Adagio en Sol Mineur’ is a moving composition that revolves around dimly colored timbres, ruminating clarinets, and harrowing string swells that define its stellar motion. Definitely among the compilation’s most touching and fulfilling compositions.

‘Lieder’, the compilation’s most grandiose, ambitious, and dramatic piece, is a full-blown symphony with stirring melodies and the tantalizing presence of the soprano voice of a diva. A mesmerizing listen through its relatively lengthy 9 minutes, ‘Lieder’ is a fantastic display of Grenier’s dazzling array of skills as a composer and arranger. With its shape-shifting rhythm taking listeners through multiple destinations throughout its runtime, ‘Lieder’ is wondrous in its scale and electrifying in its execution. Grenier follows the outstanding ‘Lieder’ with another epic. ‘1st Movement: In Nomine Patris’ features a dark atmosphere that I felt was more impactful for me personally. The gorgeously arranged woodwinds are heavenly, and the plentiful melancholy that oozed from the piece’s melodic motifs is an ointment to my ailing heart. A touching listen that is masterfully balanced, ‘1st Movement: In Nomine Patris’ takes my pick as my favorite of the album’s 13 pieces.

After the dark interlude of the 2 previous pieces, Grenier parts the clouds with ‘Maria Mater Dei’, the penultimate selection for a compilation that has been blown sweetly out of proportion during its latter quarter with 4 lengthy, colorful, nuanced, and moving compositions, the 3rd of which is ‘Maria Mater Dei’. Featuring an angelic harp and a duet of male and female voices that coalesce and collide in heaven, ‘Maria Mater Dei’ is almost a spiritual experience. The album concludes fittingly with ‘Epilogue’. Revolving around woodwinds that have become synonymous with Grenier’s compositional style, this bittersweet goodbye features some of the album’s sweetest melodies and harmonies and a heartfelt final minute that gracefully concludes an outstanding selection of pieces from a composer with a captivating flair.

Raynald Grenier’s work is nothing short of astonishing. An accomplished and acclaimed classical composer that is like a well-hidden gem, curating for us humble listeners 13 of his best works for us to savor. The result is a delightful hour and 10 minutes that pass by like a breeze, showcasing a delicate and honed compositional talent, a litany of beautiful deliveries and captivating arrangements, all mixed to perfection and with a dazzling attention to detail, and with succulent atmospheres.

DPB’s “Peer Pressure” – Faith Worn Like Armor in a Culture of Conformity

0

Sometimes a song doesn’t just slide into your playlist. It barrels through your chest like a wrecking ball. DPB’s new single, “Peer Pressure,” hits that hard.

This isn’t just another rap track bouncing off TikTok. This is a heartbeat. A prayer. A war cry.
It’s the battle anthem for every kid sitting in a cafeteria wondering why they don’t fit in.

“I don’t fit in. I don’t have any friends. I want to be noticed by them…”

You hear that?  That’s the sound of raw honesty crackling like electricity across a broken sky.

DPB isn’t handing you some polished motivational poster. He’s bleeding truth over a beat that bangs with just enough swagger to keep your head nodding and your soul shaking. The production rides that sweet spot between today’s trap vibes and old-school boom-bap roots.

The hook? It doesn’t just stick. It brands itself into your spirit.

Pressure, it’s coming after you all the time…

There’s no auto-tune safety net here. No pop cosplay. Just DPB standing in the middle of the storm, planting the cross in the dirt, daring the devil to blink first.

The song pushes hard on the real question:
Who are you when no one’s looking?

“Peer Pressure” rips the mask off the world’s biggest lie — that you need to change yourself to be worthy.  DPB isn’t here to stroke your ego. He’s here to set you free.

Rooted deep in the heart of Scripture, echoing the boldness of Romans 12:2 and the fearless stand of Galatians 1:10, DPB throws a lifeline to every soul drifting in the tide of expectations.
Not with cheesy advice. With battle-tested faith.

Stay in school. Keep going forward. What you gonna do when the pressure comes towards ya?

That’s not a throwaway line. That’s marching orders. By the time the last chorus fades, you’re not just bobbing your head. You’re standing taller. You’re remembering that the only approval you need already nailed itself to a cross two thousand years ago.

Final verdict?

If you’re drowning in the noise, gasping for something real, “Peer Pressure” is your oxygen.
It’s faith with a backbeat. Hope with a hook. And fire that won’t go out.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Mandatory listening for anyone who refuses to sell out their soul for likes.

Marc Soucy Presents Seven Minutes of Mastery!

0

I have become accustomed to experiencing the extraordinary musical creations of the talented and distinctive artist Marc Soucy. His latest piece, “Tashkent Club Fire,” emerges from the captivating “STIR” series, showcasing a remarkable diversity that is truly one of a kind.

Absolutely! This is my impression of Marc Soucy‘s Tashkent Club Fire.

I truly appreciated how he blended two distinct worlds in this piece. The craftsmanship and presentation are exceptional. The beats and structure draw from Western influences, while the melodies and harmonies have a strong Eastern essence. This unique fusion of electronica, pop, synth, and folk is something you may encounter in other releases; however, this atmospheric and cinematic concept is unparalleled, particularly when paired with a high-quality visualizer music video.

A young man journeys to his dream destination, where he meets an enchanting woman but faces a disastrous event. The narrative, accompanied by pulsating beats and vivid visuals, captures his emotional whirlwind as he navigates the lively chaos of the club, heightened by the woman’s intriguing presence.

As the music crescendos, the scene shifts dramatically, capturing the essence of a dream turned nightmare. The club, once a sanctuary of joy and connection, is suddenly engulfed in chaos, reflecting the unpredictable nature of life itself. This visual and auditory journey not only captivates viewers but also invites them to reflect on the themes of desire, destiny, and resilience.

Marc Soucy’s “Tashkent Club Fire” is more than just a song; it’s an experience that resonates deeply, challenging perceptions and igniting the imagination.

I Can’t Meet You by Michellar

0

Michelle Bond’s off-kilter vocal chops take a disco funk turn on her latest release titled ‘I Can’t Meet You’. A fun and melodic foray that made me reminisce for sweet and soulful 70s that I never got to experience.

Michelle Bond’s Michellar is a San Francisco-based pop music vessel wholly run by the titular character, singer and songwriter Michelle Bond. ‘I Can’t Meet You’ is the title of Michellar’s latest release. A song that binds the old and melodic disco flair from Chic and Boney M with modern production and a clean and crisp sound.

The song itself is defined by its immense and solid groove, steady and supportive to the wealth of melodic elements that populate the mix. Bass, breezy synth pads, and Michellar’s quirky and fragmented vocal style are the cherry on top of this stylish cake. Recorded at San Francisco’s Women Audio Mission Studio and mastered in Romania, ‘I Can’t Meet You’ is a showcase of intercontinental musical missions and is also a showcase of Michellar’s dedication to her craft.

Another distinctive release from Michellar.

EP: Łykaj Moją Pięść by Herbiarz

0

In spite of a severe language barrier that kept me from understanding Herbiarz’s rapping, there were no barriers between myself and this EP’s engaging flows and solid beats. Herbiarz’s rap has a distinct energy and an addictive quality to it.

Polish artist based in Gdynia, Herbiarz is a rapper who comfortably raps in his native Polish. His latest EP is titled Łykaj Moją Pięść. A fiery collection of 5 tracks that do undeniably share DNA, listening to Łykaj Moją Pięść is an absolutely enjoyable breeze, in spite of its language. Polish sounds edgy and dangerous, Herbiarz sounds compelling and his laidback deliveries are consistently engaging, and the threatening energies that exude from the instrumentals are universally tangible.

The 5 cuts that make up Łykaj Moją Pięść are uniformly low to mid paced, the harmonies are minimal and the trap beats are present and full of character, and the electronics-dominated instrumental add a lot of personality to the pieces, a personality that is carried from each track to the next, seemingly weaving all of the EP’s cuts into one cohesive and incredibly danceable experience.

The EP’s first 3 cuts blend into each very smoothly, sounding like 3 distinct acts to the same rap opera. The 3 cuts feature similarly melodic backdrops and dark energies that exude from each line. The title cut starts the EP with this striking energy, delivered via punchy parts and smooth, melancholic riffs. A prominent and fractured bass line says more through its syncopated silences than it does with its few notes is an outstanding part that showcases Herbiarz as a capable musician who knows the value of the space between the notes. ‘Hajs’ concludes the trilogy with its ominous, one-chord sound that’s foreboding. The synth riffs are uniquely sounded and the rapped harmonies are a delightful addition.

The cyclic and metallic synth riffs on ‘Witam’ are punchy and just a plain delight. The little piano trill on this cut is undeniably one of the EP’s coolest instrumental touches, and the minimal riff and lighthearted flows make ‘Witam’ the album’s most ambitious and enjoyable cut. The EP concludes with ‘Biznes Rośnie w Siłę’, one of its most vividly colored and melancholic cuts, featuring the EP’s only drum fill. Another distinct tune with a well-crafted sound and flow, concluding a short, solid, and sweet with an abrupt halt that leaves you almost out of breath.

Herbiarz’s Łykaj Moją Pięść was a fantastic introduction to the sound of this talented Polish musician. A powerful and short collection of well-made rap bangers that will get your body easily moving, and your mind also as it searches behind each of this album’s hidden instrumental cues, none of which are haphazardly added.

AI Superstar by Pixielated

0

Representing the bridge between cutting edge technology and authentic human creativity, Pixielated is a freshly crafted phenomenon of what can be easily described as radio-ready, AI-generated pop hits, and its latest single ‘AI Superstar’ is exactly what’s written on the box.

An American outfit, Pixielated are a newly formed, 6-piece girl group with an uncanny twist,it is all purely AI- generated. With all the visuals, sounds, and stories being AI created, Pixielated are a showcase of just how capable artificial intelligence has become, and whether you are for or against the phenomenon, there’s just no denying that ‘AI Superstar’ is a very sweet, punchu, and engaging pop tune.

The cut is defined by its punchy and arcadey synth riffs and sounds, powerful and fast-paced electronic beats, and more prominently, the fresh-sounding and engaging, girly main vocals. The production, being AI-generated, is pristine and crisp, with a perfectly balanced mix, and the songwriting, again, being AI-generated, is just calculated well enough to be effortlessly catchy and compelling.

It is debatable to which extent AI and music currently collide, but it is undeniable that it is here to stay, and is only going to improve, and with acts like Pixielated at the forefront of the motion, we are only left with excitement as to where it will go next
