Fusing her Taiwanese heritage with the experiences she went through in NYC and London, Artela made huge waves with her single “Seven”…a slow burner of a song confronting several social challenges, especially for women…” Seven” is an electronic track with a deep story to its elements.

Artela studied piano classically and was training to be a classical musician…and somehow, that road led her to create electronic music that challenges the social norms that have been set in place, raising obstacles in the face of many individuals and groups in our societies.

Artela’s “Seven” talks about several things that we live in…it talks about the paranoid feeling of being watched all the time, whether by society, family, or even friends…

The song also tackles the challenge of having women conform to specific social standards…sometimes these standards stand in the way of growth and limit the whole life experience.

“Seven” has few lyrics, but they have been put in place to tackle these issues…

The song is a slow burner, and takes its time to develop its musical ideas, slowly but surely crafting an electronic storytelling experience…

The last third of the track sees a change in the pace and energy and starts to include more percussive elements that convey the energization of the musical experience…is that even a word? When you experience the song, you’ll know that this word fits rather nicely…

Artela is creating art that tackles social challenges and this is one of the best things that art can do…raise awareness.

We wish all the best in life for Artela, you’re awesome.

Cheers!
