Jenny Colquitt released her new single “Soldier of modern-day”. Colquitt is a singer and songwriter hailing from the United Kingdom, and is a decorated musician, winning “female artist of the year” in 2021/2022 and GSMC’s award for best female solo singer/songwriter.
The first time I listened to this song, it reminded me greatly of “21 Guns” by Green Day. same mellow lyrics and weeping guitars. I couldn’t help but fall in love with Colquitt’s beautiful harmonious voice, super soothing to the ear! I especially loved the build-up in the song, where things started getting more intense. The drums make an entrance and the guitar gets louder, it got me super excited. Something I adored about the song is its cover art! It looks like an oil painting and signifies the solitude we feel in this modern day and age.
All in all, Jenny just gained one more dedicated fan. This single could be part of a soundtrack for a movie, more specifically it would be perfect as exit music for a film. The mellowness of the lyrics and the intensity of the music paired super well together to create this amazing outcome.
