Wounded Healer by King Kismet

A lot of studio magic goes into creating music. You have the arranging, the production, the mixing, the mastering, and a few other complicated words. Now dubstep… That’s a different story.

King Kismet is from Arizona, USA. On his latest single, ‘Wounded Healer,’ you’ll find him handling the issues of remaining connected with the here and now, reminding us that some things will remain out of our control, and not worth worrying about. He does that to two distinct backdrops.

The first is a sweet and flowing major scale section with boomy bass and sugary clean guitars, and a focused vocal melody delivered beautifully with minimal studio magic involved. The other, though, is where all the magic occurs. A crazed, fragmented chorus is preceded by an intense beat drop, featuring processed vocals and harsh bass stabs. A clear amount of effort went into creating such a complex sound, and it shows.

While this song is short and sweet, it also isn’t intricate enough to leave a lasting mark. The simplistic composition works very well to not overcrowd the song or be a burden on the production process. These are all practical decisions to create a typical, summery Hip-Hop tune that will be easy to forget and easier still to enjoy.
