“I Have Longed To Be Here” is the latest single from Nicki Wells. It is an epic track that sounds like a movie score.
When she was writing it, Nicki was inspired by Indian and Bulgarian folk music which I thought was a weird mix at first, but then it grew on me.
The sound depends on strings and a single layer of vocals. This gives a chance for Nicki to showcase her abilities in hitting high notes for a long duration as if she is praying or singing with a choir.
In the song’s final moments, more vocal layers are added making it sound like an actual choir. It was a climactic, jaw-dropping, and eargasmic moment that I enjoyed so much.
Overall the track made me realize that Nicki was able to seamlessly sew these different influences together to make something that sounds like it could’ve been on the soundtrack of lord of the rings, but also a great singer-songwriter piece with a very catchy and memorable vocal line. I recommend it to people who love cinematic and epic-sounding pieces.
