Darling… by Samuel Makanda

0

The saxophone tunes kick off the track “Darling…” by US-based artist, Samuel Makanda and sends you into another cheerful realm before his vocals add another elated element of positivity. The song dabbles with a number of genres, expanding from EDM to reggaeton, soul, and beyond.

Makanda thanks his lover “from his heart” in the optimistic track that also features female vocals that compliment the sound further. “Music nowadays doesn’t feel inspired; it feels forced,” shares Makanda. “I wanted to create a song that takes it back to rythym, soul, dance and feeling. I want you to feel the music come alive and the importance of instruments in songs.”

“Darling…” is the final track of Makanda’s album “Character Assasination” that carries the same bright vibe throughout the other 11 songs. The independent artist is inspired by 80s and 90s pop icons, which is evident in his music that feels very old school.

Initially released in 2019, the demo took a transformation to reach the stage it is in right now, with the help of Indonesia-based producer, Ricky Alfian. The outro, however, features different people praising Makanda, signing off the album in irrefutable style.

“This song Darling… is about being thankful for life. Being thankful for the things you cherish in life. This song makes you want to move and groove all your emotions into happiness and freedom,” concludes Makanda, and it does make you want to move to the beat, indeed!

Archaic by Richard Green

0

Combining electronic components with a powerful melodic framework, “Archaic” is an instrumental song with a distinct danceable beat. The song moves steadily, adding layers of instruments little by bit to create a convincing beat. The song eschews a conventional verse-chorus arrangement in favour of a more flexible, changing one that retains its vitality all through.

Though it borrows electronic music, the single stays unique from conventional EDM by veering more towards genres like electronic dance and downtempo. The way musicians like Bonobo or Tycho mix organic and synthetic sounds reveals their influence. This sort of tune provides an interesting pulse without overpowering the listener; hence it would suit well in a lounge or chill-out environment.

In “Archaic,” the keys take the front stage and provide an engaging melody that propels the song ahead. The rich harmonic basis is produced by the luscious, layered synthesisers. Though it never takes the front stage, the crisp and rhythmic percussion provides the required grooves that enable the music to be danceable. Though not the main emphasis, the violin gives the work more emotional depth and subtlety.

“Archaic” is produced with sharp, contemporary clarity and an obvious attention to balance. Well-integrated electrical components guarantee the track feels coherent and polished. Every instrument in the mix sits precisely in the sound space, enabling the music to organically breathe and change.

Though having a more sophisticated and subdued approach than common EDM, the genre “Archaic” comes under the electronic dance one. Given its emphasis on melody and mood over pure intensity, it might be categorised under sub-genres such as chill-out, downtempo, or even melodic techno.

The violin provides warmth and emotional resonance, therefore sustaining the melody even if the keys lead it. The dramatic contrast produced by the way the keyboard and violin interact keeps the listener interested. On both instruments, the performance is expert; the violin adds a softer, more emotional touch while the keys provide a driving force.

Richard Green’s nicely written instrumental tune “Archaic” closes the distance between danceable rhythms and electronic music. Leading keys and accompanied by delicate but powerful percussion and violin, its strong melodic emphasis presents a novel approach to electronic dance music that is both artistically rich and approachable. Those who value a more nuanced, lyrical approach to dance music will find an ideal fit in this tune.

Remember Me by JUDY PEARSON

Judy Pearson’s beautiful song “Remember Me” effectively blends notions of longing and everlasting love with a modern musical sensibility. With its rich melody, ethereal voice, and poignant lines, the song captures on first listening. Together with a comparison to eminent artists in the genre, this is a thorough analysis of the structure, style, and emotional depth of the song.

Common in ballad and pop genres, “Remember Me” gives the audience comfort and familiarity using a conventional verse-chorus structure. The song’s melancholy tone matches the careful wording from a gentle instrumental opening. As the songs grow gently, Judy Pearson’s expressive vocals culminate into a soaring chorus underlining the basic ideas of love and memory.

Offering a difference in melody and rhythm, the bridge provides a beautiful contrast that highlights the emotional peak of the song. The return of the chorus looks like a modest resolve, leaving listeners yearning still.

The musical style of “Remember Me” reminds me of the works of great artists like Adele and Norah Jones, who are known for their ability to mix soulful voices with introspection words. Although the jazz-infused tones of the song remind me of Norah Jones’s refined, sophisticated sounds, Judy Pearson’s vocals capture Adele’s forceful yet emotive approach.

Emphasizing story and emotional depth, the song also captures the creative influence of legendary singer-songwriters like Joni Mitchell and Carole King. The timeless quality of the song’s composition assures its appeal throughout the decades, much like the music of these outstanding artists.

“Remember Me” is mostly about its rich lyrics, which explore notions of love, desire, and the enduring quality of memories. The song clearly shows a link across time as it catches the essence of what it means to cling to someone who is no longer physically there.

Important passages from the song, including “When the stars fade, remember me,” catch the desire and sadness that permeate the lyrics. The visual metaphor of fading stars for the passage of time and the persistence of memory will resonate especially with anybody who has experienced love and loss.

Judy Pearson has mesmerising vocals in “Remember Me”. Her voice has a rich, expressive quality that fairly conveys the complex emotions in the song. Her minute changes—from gentle whispers to powerful crescendos—give the narrative believability and depth.

With strings, acoustic guitar, and piano combined to create a deep, atmospheric mood, “Remember Me” has very remarkable instrumentation. The piano’s melodic lines form the backbone of the song; the acoustic guitar gives warmth and intimacy. The cinematic grace with which the strings weave in and out of the arrangement increases the emotional intensity even further.

Although the polished and sophisticated production of “Remember Me” maintains a modern look, it emphasises the emotional core of the song. Expert control of vocals and instruments ensures that no element dominates the other. Reverb and echo effects enhance the dreamy, reflective quality of the music and assist it to have an ethereal character.

The song’s ageless quality sets it apart from transitory musical trends even if its production method matches contemporary pop ballads. This mix of classic and modern elements reveals the vision and competence of the production crew.

All things considered, Judy Pearson’s brilliantly penned song “Remember Me” exactly captures the essence of timeless love and yearning. Its sophisticated orchestration, powerful vocals, and emotional lyrics provide a memorable and moving listening experience. Combining aspects of renowned performers with Judy Pearson’s style, her compositions are current and timeless, therefore attesting to her ability as a singer-songwriter.

Within Judy Pearson’s greater artistic vision, “Remember Me” demonstrates her ability to produce songs with a deeply personal resonance yet appealing to a wide audience. The song’s universal themes of love and memory as well as its outstanding delivery make it a special item in her repertoire.

“Remember Me” is a song you will find resonance with and linger in your heart especially if your preference is modern pop or classic ballads.

Syrupy Sweet Vocals and a Catchy Beat in “Heartbreak on 9th Avenue” by Mirnaz

Heartbreak anthem coming your way! Iraqi singer/songwriter, Mirnaz’ latest single “Heartbreak on 9th Avenue” is the embodiment of relationship distress woven in R&B sounds, commercial pop, and a sick flow that gets stuck in your head upon the first play.

The lyric video opens up with Mirnaz announcing she’s going for a drive, then the song kicks off and takes you on a ride through her pain as she talks about her ex-love. Her sultry vocals sound like drips of honey being poured in your ears; syrupy sweet and catchy.

“Got love on my mind and pride by side,” sings Mirnaz. “I can see inside your mind. I can see what you’re chasin’. Heartbreak on 9th avenue, until you see what I saw in you.”

Armed with a passion for music from a young age and involved in choir singing, Mirnaz was born in Baghdad and raised in Detroit, and you can easily spot the Middle Eastern influences in her music with a touch of Arabian style in her singing. She credits her idols such as Arab stars, Kadim Al Saher and Amr Diab, along with Western icons, Jay-Z, Beyonce, and Nina Simone.

The catchy beat reminds you of early 2000s R&B music, when the likes of Ciara and Mary J. Blige were topping the charts. And with a newborn star on the rise, we expect her to also hit the grid with similar upcoming powerful anthems soon.

The Needle by Raffaele Luzzi ft. Roberto Ladanza

0

Raffaele Luzzi and Roberto Ladanza’s The Needle is an amazing work that combines electrical music and guitars with a unique cinematic touch. Offering listeners a rich aural experience, the song negotiates a sound terrain that deftly combines acoustic and electronic elements.

The song moves in a disciplined manner that increases tension during its whole length. It starts with a subdued beginning and builds instruments layer upon layer to produce a full-bodied sound. With its slow increase, this method creates the mood for an immersive listening experience and hooks the listener in with each part adding to the whole narrative arc of the work, the arrangement reminds one of a movie soundtrack.

The song opens with a beautiful, ambient background that sets an enigmatic and interesting tone. The first tune grabs the listener’s interest with a mix of delicate acoustic components and electronic textures.

Additional layers of instruments are added as the music moves further. Here the guitar is really important as it offers a melodic counterpoint to the electronic background. Including the guitar not only gives the electronic setting a human touch but also closes the distance between conventional and contemporary sounds.

The song’s climax is signaled by a peak in intensity wherein all the components come together to provide a strong aural experience. This part highlights how well the musicians could create a lively and interesting composition that would captivate listeners to its emotional core.

Echoing the atmospheric beginnings and leaving a residual effect on the listener, the song ends with a slow decrease of components.

Artists like Bonobo, Moby, and Hans Zimmer who are renowned for their ability to combine electronic music with acoustic and cinematic aspects may help one understand the “The Needle” style. The song follows Bonobo’s style, in which the electronic basis gains depth and emotional resonance from the live instrument integration—especially the guitar.

The song’s electronic components recall Moby’s approach, in which the employment of synthesisers and electronic rhythms produces an ambient yet rhythmic experience. The track’s cinematic nature may be ascribed to inspirations from composers like Hans Zimmer, who often employ rich textures and broad melodies to arouse feeling and story.

The song’s distinctive sound is a result of a wide range of instruments used here:

Guitar: Expertly weaved into the electronic setting, the guitar is a highlight of the song. Its melodic lines accentuate the emotional effect by adding warmth and depth, therefore contrasting with the synthetic parts.

The electronic spine of the music is created using a range of synthesisers. These tools provide rich pads, rhythmic pulses, and complex soundscapes defining the ambient character of the music.

To improve the emotional resonance of the music, cinematic strings, and orchestral sounds are mixed in. These components add to the grandeur of the song and help it to transcend ordinary electronic creation.

The extraordinary manufacturing quality of “The Needle highlights the painstaking attention to detail by Raffaele Luzzi and Roberto Ladanza. Expertly performed mixing and mastering guarantees that every instrument and sound element is balanced and clear. The production improves the immersive quality of the music so that listeners may value the many levels and textures.

Strong inspirations from Cinematic Music and Downtempo help The Needle to be categorised as Ambient Electronic. Fans of electronic music as well as those who value cinematic soundtracks will find a contemporary and timeless sound produced by the mix of various genres intriguing.

Raffaele Luzzi and Roberto Ladanza’s The Needle is an engaging work that deftly combines cinematic influence with electronic and acoustic components. The structure, instrumentation, and production quality of the song capture the creators’ knowledge and inventiveness, therefore producing an emotionally powerful composition. Those who like cinematic soundtracks and ambient electronic music will find plenty of value in this outstanding work.

Love Long Gone by April Gallo

0

Some exes make you cry; others just inspire you to write some kick-ass lyrics and expressive soulful melodies. April Gallo, sure is a living proof of that! The Barcelona-based rising artist has just released her latest song, Love Long Gone. Inspired by a dream about an ex-lover, Gallo manages to skillfully weave a musical tapestry that expresses the complexity of reminiscing an old relationship. It’s no secret that it is not easy to think about the memories of a past relationship without wiping a tear or two. There are always these feelings of loss and confusion alongside a little bit of grief to our loss, but hey! This is not necessarily the case with Gallo.

The neo-soul artist surprises us with a fresh outlook on this phase of reminiscence. You don’t find the artist curling up in her bed crying with ice-cream and chocolates, she is instead giving in to these memories and enjoying them as some sort of a sweet dream instead. This time she doesn’t “mind giving in to this futile chasing.” An incredibly accepting and peaceful surrendering to the harsh realities of a breakup, but perceived in such a positive and peaceful way. She bravely delivers the following lines, “Today I’m fooled, by the scars you left on me since waking.” A statement that requires a great deal of self-awareness and a level of acceptance that needs an incredible amount of emotional strength. The artist is surely providing us with a therapeutic kind of release delivered with an incredible soulful sound.

The brilliance of this track lies in how the lyrics, music, and Gallo’s voice are all perfectly complementing each other to deliver this intimate, chill, hopeful, and groovy kind of vibe. A combination you don’t really find that often. Her velvety voice is greatly supported and driven by a soulful groove driven by the drums, bass, rhodes, and electric guitar. Blending a unique jazzy, neo-soul, R&B, and bossa nova mix.

There is no doubt that this song is quite an intimate creation. Taking a universal experience, delving into its complexities, and asserting an outlook that is often overshadowed by others. It is not super positive nor heartbreaking and aching, it is just real. As real as it can be and as genuine as an R&B track should always aspire to be.

EP: thirsting again by SimplyRich

0

From the EP’s opening moments, it is clear that SimplyRich is capable of crafting some pretty stand out atmospheres, plus the flex of having an extremely tight opener last only 42 seconds, ‘thirsting again’ is an EP that’s brimming with inventive confidence.

SimplyRich is an RnB artist, a rapper, and a producer hailing from Los Angeles. Carrying all elements of his music on his shoulders, SimplyRich is doing an amount of work on ‘thirsting again’ that easily wins him the adjective of Visionary. His sound is mostly gentle and chill, impeccably soulful as he weaves together one intoxicating vibe after another. Rapping about love, heartbreak, sex, trauma, and humor, in his own words, SimplyRich follows a journaling approach to writing his material, an approach that lends itself to making the songs on the EP feel short and intimate microcosms of thoughts within SimplyRich’s mind.

‘BAG (intro)’ hits hard and is tightly built. A bouncy starter that is quick to establish a fantastic groove, showcasing the artist’s song-building talent alongside his unique vision for atmospherics. ‘BAG (intro)’ lasts a little over 40 seconds before the album proper begins. Being an EP, the 7-songs on ‘thirsting again’ last 16 minutes, on them SimplyRich goes all out with his influences and his musical leanings, feeling all over the place, but at the same time a certain strain streams throughout the miniature songs, making the listen experience a crisp and cohesive one that’s very rewarding.

The Drake-like feel of ‘I Didn’t Know She Had a Man’ is neo-soul at its most succulent, championing Rich’s engaging flow and rhythms and his approachable storytelling, as well as his sense for an intoxicating mix, adorning the song’s 2 bluesy chords with a charming mix of vocal harmonies, ad-libs, and a booming sub bass. ‘White Toes’ displays a whimsical side to SimplyRich’s songwriting. With its abrupt organ stabs and eye-opening bass part that changes the musical landscape magically whenever it chimes in, it is a gorgeously built track. The song’s shift to the parallel major is simply stunning. ‘drought’ introduces a bit of fun into the mix. A playful part that introduces a more melodic side of SimplyRich’s sound, it is one of the EP’s more peppy and engaging offerings. SimplyRich left the best for last, or at least, he left the most ambitious and fleshed out for last. ‘Need + Want’ carries a very conventional groove that’s complemented by an abundance of inventive and curious musical ornamentations. A track that showcases SimplyRich’s ability to deliver something somewhat normal, ‘Need + Want’ is one of the album’s easiest tracks, and definitely its least challenging listen.

Not for a single moment throughout ‘thirsting again’ have I felt bored. SimplyRich’s musical vision is just simply too vibrant. ‘thirsting again’ is an interesting blend of rap, RnB, and soul. An album that’s charmingly confident, showcasing the extremely colorful character of SimplyRich.

1969 by Starbloom

0

Getting past the jangly sweetness of Starbloom’s ‘1969’ we found a gem of a folk tune that’s impeccably made, lovingly, and with true palpable passion. Starbloom is the kind of artist to take a one banjo riff, repeat it for 10 minutes on a simplistic beat and a minimal number of melodies, and leave you thirsty for more.

Starbloom is Garrison, a 20-year old singer and songwriter from Virginia. Starbloom is a self-produced artist who takes exceptional pride in his art and in how he builds it from the ground up in his home studio and how much enjoyment he gains in the process. Quite wholesome. But wait until you listen to ‘1969’ for this wholesomeness to immediately double.

Having a few stories set during the space race lying around, Starbloom gathered them, stitched them together into an anthology of sorts, came up with the loveliest banjo riff, a groove that is outstandingly deep pocketed, and a progression that seems to perpetually climb upwards like a shepherd tone, and ‘1969’ was born. A sweet piece of the peppiest folk pop, ‘1969’ is the kind of song that is approachable enough to be used for a yoghurt commercial but get you looking it up right away to get hooked on it for days to come.

An extremely fun piece of music from a superb talent. Starbloom is the next big thing in my book.
