Japan by Sharoo

0

Sharoo has recently dropped a new track titled “Japan,” offering a distinct hip-hop flavor. Let’s delve into more details below.

The primary reason I enjoy this track is the emotional vocals. While the catchy melody and beats are undeniable, it’s the vocal style that truly sets it apart. Credit is due to Beau Vallis for the mixing work and Chris Brown for his unique vocal approach. The music’s fusion of Western and Eastern influences is striking, blending a Japanese melody with modern hip-hop percussion. Its Japanese-inspired main melody is fused with the percussion of current hip hop and thumping 808s!” – Sharoo explained.

The blend of traditional and contemporary elements brings a unique flavor to the track that sets it apart from typical pop and hip-hop songs. The seamless integration of the Japanese melody with the modern beats showcases the versatility and creativity of the artists involved. It’s a refreshing departure from the norm, demonstrating how cultural influences can enrich and diversify the music landscape.

Moreover, the production quality by RCKY is top-notch, with every element meticulously balanced to enhance the listening experience. The transitions between the different musical styles are smooth, making the song feel cohesive despite its eclectic influences. This track is a testament to the power of collaboration and the beauty that can arise when artists dare to blend different genres and cultural sounds.

Overall, this song is more than just a catchy tune; it’s an artistic statement that bridges cultures and showcases the limitless possibilities of music.

EP: Meine Liebe by Mortal Prophets

0

While the new Generation Alpha may not fully appreciate the charm of mono recording, exploring Mortal Prophets’ latest EP, Meine Liebe, will introduce you to a flawless blend of classic beauty and modern flair. Stay tuned for more details below.

In German, ‘Meine Liebe’ translates to ‘my love.’ The tale began when John Beckmann, the visionary behind Mortal Prophets, stumbled upon a mysterious acetate record labeled “Meine Liebe.” This record, without a known artist or musician, fused German opera with European electronica and new-wave elements in a captivating manner. Mesmerized by its authentic allure, Beckmann speculated that it emerged in 1977. Despite his attempts, including seeking advice from German Electronica experts, the creators of “Meine Liebe” remained enigmatic figures, concealed in the shadows.

“What is real is what can be imagined, this collection of songs captures the glitter and doom of what was the Weimar Period in Germany” – John Beckmann

Afterwards, he teamed up with NYC producer David Sisko to embark on their production journey for the EP. Upon listening to the six-track EP, it becomes apparent that each track possesses its own distinct characteristics. I particularly enjoyed the clever touch of naming the first two songs “Weimar Tango,” with the first in mono and the second in stereo. It’s a brilliant detail. Furthermore, I observed that the electronic and synth sounds present a fresh approach not found in recent records. Perhaps this innovation stems from inspiration dating back at least three decades, coupled with Beckmann and Sisko’s unique elements and influences. It’s truly captivating.

The EP ‘Meine Liebe’ presents a range of styles including electro, trip-hop, disco, synth, and more, all meticulously arranged, mixed, and mastered. If you’re seeking fresh, inspiring, and finely crafted electronic music, ‘Meine Liebe’ comes highly recommended. Its unique and mysterious blend is truly exceptional. Think I’m embellishing? Give it a listen below and see for yourself…

Album: The Melancholiac II by JSDAVANI

0

What if I told you that I could transport you on a unique journey through music, where you explore your own mind? That’s exactly what JSDAVANI achieved with his incredible new album, “The Melancholiac II.” Let’s delve deeper into this captivating experience.

I was quite taken aback when I got my hands on the JSDAVANI music album, which turned out to be a 20-track album. Initially, I wondered, “Who would release an electronic/Avant-Garde album with such a multitude of tracks?” This genre is typically recognized for its fast-paced songs that are either short in duration or limited in number on an LP. Nevertheless, my perspective shifted once I delved further into the album.

The brilliance of “The Melancholiac II” lies in its division of tracks into two distinct sections, with each section leading you on a unique journey. This approach is exceptionally clever.

The album is split into two parts:

  • Tracks 1-7 depict stages of depression leading to substance abuse.
  • Tracks 8-10 illustrate the euphoria of substance use.
  • Track 11 warns of consequences, while Track 12 addresses guilt.
  • Tracks 13-15 capture the drug experience, with Track 16 signaling a need for change.
  • Tracks 17-20 reflect on the journey of improvement, highlighting the daily struggle between logic and emotion. The album emphasizes the importance of appreciating moments of well-being and the continuous effort required for recovery.

Which ultimately forces the individual to confront their underlying issues directly. This aligns perfectly with the overarching theme of the album, showing that true recovery is about facing one’s problems head-on rather than avoiding them. Jacoby’s expertise in behavioral analysis adds a unique layer of depth and authenticity to the narrative, making the album not just a collection of songs, but a carefully crafted journey through the intricacies of addiction and recovery.

The final track, “Hope’s Horizon,” offers a glimmer of optimism, underscoring the possibility of a brighter future despite the struggles. It’s a reminder that while the path to recovery is fraught with challenges, perseverance and self-awareness can lead to meaningful change. The album as a whole serves as an emotional and educational experience, providing both solace and insight to listeners who may be grappling with similar issues.

In summary, this album is a poignant exploration of the cyclical nature of addiction, the emotional turmoil it brings, and the arduous yet rewarding journey towards recovery. Jacoby’s insightful lyrics and thoughtful composition resonate deeply, making it a powerful testament to the resilience of the human spirit.

This track showcases Federico’s unique style, combining orchestral string stabs, rich sliding melodies, and a crisp drum bounce. Gianfranco Pescetti Returns with ‘Daystar Nocturnal’: First Album in Nearly a Decade

0

Independent electronic/dance artist Gianfranco Pescetti is set to release his first album in nearly ten years after the success of his most recent singles in 2023. The new album will be a journey into both ambient and dance music called Daystar Nocturnal.

With Daystar Nocturnal, Pescetti is returning to his roots with more classic EDM flavors whilst also delving into the intricate interplay between light and darkness. We can see this interplay in the teaser tracks he’s released in the past year, “Be My Ghost,” “Stopless” and “The Wake”. All impeccably produced, they toggle back and forth between light, melodic and playful tracks and more serious, ambient explorations of sound. For Pescetti, it’s clear this album represents a sonic exploration that transcends the boundaries of traditional genres. In an industry often defined by strict categorizations, Pescetti challenges the norm by embracing the fluidity inherent in music, always finding inspiration in the tension that exists between its opposing forces.

Music, for me, is something fluid. There has always been an ambivalence that I can’t get away from. “Daystar Nocturnal’ is my attempt to explore the depth of emotions and create a profoundly personal and evocative sound without conforming to the rigid specifications of a particular genre, all while keeping an eye to the dance floor.”

With Pescetti showcasing his talent on bass as well as a producer, Daystar Nocturnal is an album meant to be personal not just for him but for the listener. Emotive and meditative tones dancing around each other, it’s also hard to ignore the technical prowess contained within this concept album. For Pescetti, his hope is that fans also feel the existential.

“I’d like to exist at the intersection of both light and dark, and that is how I hear the music. It’s within this duality that the tension—the push and pull—can be found.”

Each track in Daystar Nocturnal is a carefully crafted blend of ambient textures, electronic beats, and emotive melodies, encouraging listeners to immerse themselves in a vibrant and ever-changing musical journey. The album is set to release on January 25, 2024.

She’s Excited! Announces New Album ‘Moments of Sonder,’ Out January 26, Continuing Darkwave Evolution

0

Fresh off her recent EP from her SuperWAV project with brother Volker, Anne Wichmann’s more electronic, darkwave moniker, She’s Excited! is also back with an upcoming album. Due out on January 26, Moments of Sonder picks up where the previous offering, Shock Therapy, left off, but with some clear evolution in Wichmann’s style.

With heavy influence from early darkwave and gothwave synths, especially from her native Germany, Wichmann’s vocals are as strong and textured as ever on Moments of Sonder. There is, however, a hint in many songs of other genres and styles, likely influenced by the more grass roots punk work she was doing on SuperWAV. The opening track “Celebrity Parade,” for example, has a more experimental background, whilst the following track, “All I Need” (Feat. Komputer) is pure dubstep. Other tracks like “Weltschmerz” are fully ambient with no pretense of darkwave.

The variance in style, according to Wichmann, is deliberate, centered around a concept.

‘Moments Of Sonder´ is a concept album around the phenomenon of `sonder´, an instant realization that every person has a life as complex and complicated as your own. I invite the listeners to walk through New York City (or any city of their dreams) with me: We will look up the high rises and wonder what lives unfold behind the millions of windows. We will walk down to the subway and go on a ride with Mellon Collie. We will meet amazing people and hear wonderful and sometimes difficult stories, we will briefly listen in while passing by and then move on. I hope that everyone will find their own moment of sonder in the music.

In this way, it’s clear that each track on Moments of Sonder is meant to be just that: a vignette of self-awareness, seen from the outside of complexity contained in each track. Just like with all the work she creates, Wichmann was very intentional and equally personal in creating this album.

This album is a sound bath, it is designed and produced to take you on a ride, to immerse you in the kaleidoscope of boundless life and evocative city sounds. (It is) very dear to me because it contains and reflects a lot of personal moments and thoughts about my life as immigrant, as artist, as musician, as a human sometimes struggling, as a woman wondering and fighting and loving my way through life.

Within all these different perspectives, we find Wichmann’s own perspective, which, strong as it is fragile and deep as it is fully of light, is also her art. With her Moments of Sonder, Wichmann hopes the listener sees all the richness of the lives being lived around us, and to delve even further into our own awareness. It seems like a worthy journey.

Dallas Rapper Nana Bangz Unveils New Single ‘Alive,’ Showcasing Diverse Style and 90s Influences

0

Dallas rapper Nana Bangz has just released her new single, “Alive,” and it’s a perfect example of this up-and-comer’s diverse style and swag. Inspired by the great female artists of the 90s like Lil Kim and Missy Elliott, Nana Bangz also brings her own modern style to her trap-heavy work.

Releasing elevated dirty south bangers since 2018, something that will strike listeners quickly is how much she’s worked on her craft. In an age where mumble rap has finally been ousted and clever verse is back on top, Nana has adapted and brought her rich vocabulary and ability to craft bars to her recent work. Tracks like 2022’s “Rah Rah” and “Show Out,” released in 2023, show she has the heavy, intimidating presence of Lady of Rage with the fast spitting ability of Megan Thee Stallion. It’s a deadly combination and certainly makes Nana one to watch.

With yet another combination of old and new, “Alive” opens with a vintage jazz/doo wop sample before Nana’s heavy, raspy vocals drop. They don’t let up from there, with her intricate verse tangling around the beat, syncopating with it in a variety of ways. The juxtaposition between the fighting, fiery verse, the one word hook of “alive” punctuating the intervals and the lighter vintage samples makes the track much deeper than it may seem at the beginning. The highs and lows of life, the intensity of emotions, even when they’re not always pleasant, the breaks or peace and calm: “Alive” is the signpost of a life well lived, not to mention Nana Bangz’s skills.

A seminal track for Bangz, “Alive” will likely bring her more recognition in the rap game as it showcases her talent, the work she’s put in and her passion for the genre.

Aaron Wyanski Releases ‘SCHOENBERG: Drei Klavierstücke, Op. 11’: A Jazz Tribute to Atonality

0

Aaron Wyanski, a well-known composer, pianist and musicologist based in Maine, continues his exploration of and homage to the great composer Arnold Schönberg with a new trio of works called SCHOENBERG: Drei Klavierstücke, Op. 11. Fascinated by Schönberg’s compositions from a young age and his concept of atonality, this is Wyanski’s third in a series of deep dives into the concept via the medium of jazz.

Known today as one of history’s most famous music theorists, Arnold Schönberg’s atonality theory (though he didn’t much care for the actual term) and structure has been deemed one of the most influential on modern music, his compositions in the early 20th century giving way to the genre of jazz as we know it today, and forward into almost all genres which are popular today. If you like dissonance in your music of any kind, Schönberg is the one to thank.

Despite most of Schönberg’s compositions still being largely in the classical style and set, Aaron Wyanski can easily feel the link between classical and jazz music via this concept of atonality. When it comes to experimental jazz and jazz fusion, it seems Wyanski really wanted to put it to the test with this series. SCHOENBERG: Sechs kleine Klavierstücke, Op. 19, SCHOENBERG Suite Op. 25 and the latest SCHOENBERG: Drei Klavierstücke, Op. 11 use Wyanski’s mastery of atonality and dissonance, classical composition and jazz to create a truly new take on the old master’s vision.

Atonal music collapses this binary. Historically, consonances were justified theoretically by the harmonic overtone series—the physical phenomenon that allows for our perception of definite pitch. The basic building block of tonal harmony is the triad, which is made up of the first three different notes in the overtone series. But Schoenberg argues that, since actually every note is present in the overtone series, just farther along the line, the difference between consonance and dissonance is only one of relation—an artificial boundary. As with most binaries, this collapse reveals that the binary was false all along. For me, this is one of the most beautiful things about the universe. Really take that in for a moment: when you hear one note, all notes are present. A single pitch is an infinity.

Following the idea not only from Schönberg but with other dissonant and experimental artists such as Frank Zappa and Philip Glass, Wyanski’s compositions almost have a musique concrète feel to them, being seemingly disjointed compositions that also loop back on themselves. The intersection of all these loops creates that “all notes are present” feel that’s so key to these three compositions. SCHOENBERG: Drei Klavierstücke, Op. 11 is a thought-provoking listen, but one which ultimately shows the intricacies of music, laid bare, rather than covering them up with melody or some illusion of continuum. If there’s any continuum here, it’s the infinity of music, and Wyanski wants us to hear it.

SCHOENBERG: Drei Klavierstücke, Op. 11 is out now.
Stream or purchase on Bandcamp.

Aaron has also released another Schoenberg release titled “Two Pieces: Op. 33 and 33B.”
