Young Love Turning Into Flames in “Burn” by Edie Yvonne

Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter Edie Yvonne might be only 15 years old, but her music transcends years beyond her age. Her latest pop single “Burn” features a rock vibe to it with the strums of the electric guitar, while maintaining her syrupy sweet vocals throughout the track.

“I wrote this song on a Kalimba that was gifted to me,” shared Yvonne. “And it evolved from there… When someone blows up their life and you are left behind to try to put out the fire…”

For those of you who don’t know what a Kalimba is, it is an African musical instrument with a wooden soundboard and metal keys. Although it is a tiny instrument, its sound is very unique, mellow, and deeply effective.

The song opens up with soft acoustic guitar strums, before Yvonne’s soft vocals ensue to tell a story about lost love being ripped apart. “The fire can’t be tamed,” sings Yvonne, before she switches effortlessly into a falsetto register that is perfected with harmonies in the background complimenting the sound of the song.

The single was released on the same day that Yvonne performed for the very first time in New York City at the Vascular Birthmarks Foundation’s 30th anniversary gala. Her previous releases include “Girl Code” EP which was monumentally released on the same week she started high school. It seems that Yvonne’s releases are not purely coincidental, for every time she puts out a new record, it is in a timely manner with a significant event.

We can only wonder what the next significant date will be, and what song will be released accompanying the event!

Dance to the Beat of “Take Me Back” by DJ Thommek

Using Ableton, the music production software, German DJ Thommek creates tracks that he hopes make people dance to the tune, and one of his latest EDM releases “Take Me Back” does exactly just that! With a catchy sound and uplifting vibes, the track can turn your day around and add a little sparkle to your time listening to it.

The track brings life into your day with upbeat synths and a lively tune that has you moving to the beat. It starts off with a catchy tempo and vocalized words that are appealing to the listener’s ears. Otherworldly tunes drift into the distance and take you on a journey, with the vocals sounding almost a little robotic upon first listen.

Not only does DJ Thommek curate a dance soundtrack to your night out, he also paints the cover art of his tracks using pastel crayons. These artworks embody his creation in visual form, and transcends the message further with artistic representation. For “Take Me Back”, he painted two hands holding each other, appearing to be of different races as evident by the skin tone of each hand. This might represent the collision of different cultures that the track showcases!

DJ Thommek’s musical career began with instruments like the guitar and double bass. Armed with a cassette recorder in his living room, he explored the world of music through his own little window, before evolving to use production software that allows him to create more freely. Now, and for the past four years, he has been sharing his music on a global level, with tracks that he hopes can get people moving – and “Take Me Back” will have you dancing in no time!

Fire by Drosz

THIS IS TO REMIND YOU THAT GIVING UP IS NOT AN OPTION!

This release is not just out here to urge you to push forward. This release is almost a liberation. It uniquely encompasses an incredibly felt sense of freedom and perseverance. FIRE, the new track from Drosz, hits hard with its message of resilience, born from personal struggles and the deep bond between Drosz and his cousin, producer RIC808. With an unmistakable blend of genres influenced by artists like The Neptunes, Outkast, and Daft Punk, the song pushes boundaries while delivering a message that speaks to the heart of anyone facing challenging times.

FIRE is more than just another track; it’s a testament to the power of perseverance. Created in their home studio in Orange County, New York, Drosz laid down the vocals while RIC808 handled the majority of the production, before passing away in early 2023. The song, initially intended to inspire faith through tough times, now carries even deeper meaning for the family, transforming grief into an anthem of strength and positivity. Every lyric feels charged with personal memories, making the song an emotional beacon for anyone going through hardship.

With its unique mix of alt-pop, electronic, and indie vibes, FIRE refuses to let you quit. The track pulses with an energy that makes you feel like there’s no choice but to keep pushing forward, no matter the obstacles. It somehow opens up your eyes to new possibilities and makes you feel truly unstoppable. It’s a liberation not just in sound but in spirit, urging you to make the most of every moment, reminding us all to “release that track” of life without hesitation.

As Drosz himself puts it, “FIRE is all about persevering through difficult times and being thankful for seeing another day.” This release stands as a powerful reminder that no matter what life throws at us, there’s always a way forward, even if it’s through flames..

Forged by Fire by Knightheart

SOME PEOPLE ARE BURNED BY FIRE, OTHERS STRIVE BY IT!

In his latest release, Forged by Fire, Knightheart offers a striking fusion of vulnerability and power, crafting a deeply personal journey that resonates with anyone who’s been through life’s ups and downs. The poetic anti-hero once again bends genres to his will, delivering smooth, reflective bars over a soulfully rhythmic backdrop. Each verse pulses with emotion, painting a vivid picture of his recent state of mind.

Teaming up with guitarist Jay Reau, the atmospheric guitar work adds layers of depth, allowing Knightheart’s lyrics to rise with an almost cathartic weight. This track is more of an experience; one that connects the duality of Knightheart’s identity, bridging the worlds of Jelani and Knightheart with raw, truthful emotion.

The essence of this release can be easily found in these lines: “found my fate in the fire, I was forced by the flame, through my demons’ desire, I was destined for change.” The lyrics here encapsulates the essence of the artist’s journey. Here, Knightheart embraces the struggles that have shaped him, transforming pain into purpose. The imagery of fire serves as a powerful metaphor for personal growth and resilience, illustrating how adversity can forge strength, power, and clarity.

At its core, Forged by Fire is a motivational anthem. Knightheart doesn’t just share his trials; he reclaims them, showing how resilience and passion can turn pain into art. While there are moments where his vocal delivery shines, exploring further nuances in his performance could elevate the emotional impact even more. Nonetheless, this track solidifies his place as a master of blending deeply personal narratives with universal themes.

I Need A Yoko by Toby TomTom

0

Ethereal, dreamy, and captivating, Toby TomTom’s latest single defies description. The eerily desolate and gorgeous ‘I Need A Yoko’ is an arresting display of the songwriter’s exceptional talent for writing gripping melodies, and crafting mesmerizing atmospheres.

Long Island based singer and songwriter Toby TomTom is exploring the theme of loneliness on his latest single, exploring the love story that bound John Lennon and Yoko Ono. ‘I Need A Yoko’ is eerie and hauntingly gorgeous. The desolate emptiness that TomTom crafts is instantly impactful. Using little more than his acoustic guitar and his voice, TomTom manages to create a vast place that is full of menacing melancholy as well as heart stopping beauty.

It is mostly in the song’s fantastic chord structure, putting a lot of weight on a single chromatically descending note in a 3-chord move, a seesaw of peace and misery that is wonderfully utilized using effects and harrowing synth pads. There is something of grunge to TomTom’s mostly freeform vocal delivery. A certain sense of unconformity as if TomTom’s protagonist is breaking all the rules he ever held, in his search for his Yoko.

Beautiful, lush, artfully simple, and full of personality, Toby TomTom’s latest single is a pretty exploration of loneliness that is carefully orchestrated to sound as lonely as its words imply. ‘I Need A Yoko’ is a brilliantly balanced ballad.

Get Together by Giack Bazz

0

The latest of Giack Bazz’s singles releasing for his upcoming studio album, a song by the name of ‘Get Together’, is a terrific blend of psychedelia and country that’s at once inventive and familian, to no end.

London-based singer and singer Giack Bazz has been extremely busy crafting a stellar body of intellectually and artistically distinctive music. Since 2018, Bazz has been developing a concept about computer music being translated into a rock music landscape, then arranged for an orchestra. Kind of walking backwards through history. ‘Get Together’ is the third album in a trilogy of records exploring this concept. The album is Bedtime Stories For Computers, releasing in the middle of November.

‘Get Together’ is a song that eloquently displays what Bazz’s music is all about. A litany of guitars coalesces into a sonically intriguing globe of sound that fully engulfs. A brilliant mix keeps all the woozy and hazy guitars in check, together with the trombones, flutes, and violins from the Orchestra Philharmonia del Teatro Comunale di Bologna blaring left and right in a barely controlled chaos that put to mind Radiohead’s Kid A and Amnesiac, and their glacial electricity to mind. The composition is simple and easy to follow, enjoyably melodic with an easygoing groove, but the intricate mix keeps things utterly and completely fresh for the song’s 6 and a half minutes runtime.

‘Get Together’ is an artful display of seasick rhythm guitars, plotted alongside a steady groove, a miniature ensemble, a wall of hazy droning, and an ocean of charisma to every single beat. A song that is lush, different, and exceptionally well put together.

Mountains by Josephine Assayech

0

‘Mountains’ is Josephine Assayech’s bold, gently loud piece of cinematic pop that echoes the work of Enya and Yanni in their grandiosity, elegance, and unforgettable melodies. A captivating experience.

Multi-cultural singer and songwriter Josephine Assayech is based in Zurich, Switzerland, while her music champions her Italian, Persian, and French roots. ‘Mountains’ is a very fluid piece of music that fluently evades being pigeonholed within the bounds of a particular genre. Easy going to be a pop song, the overly calm arrangement drifts into the realms of ambient music, while the melancholy-laced melodies suggest a stripped back version of an anthemic rock ballad. Regardless of genres, it is easy to conclude that ‘Mountains’ is epic and anthemic, while being reserved, collected, and kept gracefully calm throughout.

Josephine Assayech dreamt up ‘Mountains’ during a period of doubt and turbulence, and the song was her bold call for herself and for others to fully embrace where they are in life, what they have achieved, the roads they have traversed, and all the potential ones that still lay ahead. Through it all, ‘Mountains’ is based on a few, slowly moving and impactful chords, a few unforgettable melodies, and a wall of synth pads so lush and serene that they make the whole listen ethereal and pillowy to no end.

A stellar piece of grandiose music from Switzerland’s Josephine Assayech, ‘Mountains’ is provocative and enthralling with its gentle ebb and flow, the passion and the meaning behind it all, and with its endless display of masterful instrumental and vocal restraint.

Lose Sleep and Stay Up Late Listening to “Insomniacs” by The Hungry & Dangerous

0

Make sure you play this one in a safe zone because it is loud! Yep, we’re talking about the hard rock track “Insomniacs” by Nashville-based The Hungry & Dangerous.

We’ve previously delved deep into its accompanying self-titled album in an older review that was released last year, and we’re ready to dissect the song on a standalone basis. “Pushing their sound boundaries more into a more groovy sound while maintaining their heaviness comes Insomniacs. It has a groovy dynamic structure with a really cool bassline, a shredding guitar hero solo, and a super cool sing-along engaging section,” is a snippet of what was mentioned previously about the song.

But with a fresh listen, there’s an undeniable appeal to “Insomniacs”. Ranging from the electrifying guitar solo, to frontman Jordan Taylor Moed’s catchy yells mid-song and change in variation from speech-like singing to full-on screaming, there are so many elements that stand out in the song. The drums are insanely larger than life and particularly the bass drum that pierces through to the depth of your heart. You can literally feel it in your soul!

“Insomniacs was a culmination of The Hungry & Dangerous discovering our identity,” shared the band. “From our love of artists and bands like Alice Cooper, WASP, and The Misfits, The Hungry & Dangerous wanted to find our own statement in the shock rock world, and since this band is done apart currently and takes an insane amount of time and effort to make this all work, we all have become Insomniacs in one form or another and because of that, this song formed and has become our anthem to the world.”

As Moed yells “INSOMNIACS” in the middle of the song, you can’t help but sing along! So, prepare your speakers, blast out the tune, and scream alongside this rock banger.

Til The End by Lucas Pasley

“Till the End” dives deep into the complexities of commitment and what it means to truly love someone in all their forms. Pasley sings with heart and honesty, “When you love someone you love all of them, all of them till the end.” It’s a line that hits hard, laying bare the idea that real love isn’t just about the easy moments, but embracing every part of a person: the good, the bad, the beautiful, and the messy. The lyrics speak to the kind of love that doesn’t fade, that grows stronger through every trial and triumph, and Pasley’s delivery makes it feel deeply personal, like he’s sharing a piece of his own heart.

Musically, “Till the End” is a masterpiece of acoustic simplicity. The gentle guitar work, paired with a mournful banjo and a soulful fiddle, creates a tender, intimate atmosphere. It’s as if you’re sitting on a porch in the Appalachian mountains, soaking in every word and note. Pasley’s deep, gravelly baritone adds a layer of sincerity that pulls you in and doesn’t let go. You can hear every ounce of emotion in his voice, making it impossible not to connect with the song on a visceral level.

Lucas Pasley delivers a raw and authentically beautifull gem in “Till the End.” It’s a song that speaks to the kind of love that lasts a lifetime, and with his acoustic, down-home charm, Pasley manages to make it feel both timeless and utterly relatable. This track is sure to resonate with anyone who has ever loved everything they’ve got, proving once again that Lucas Pasley is a storyteller with a gift for capturing the essence of the human experience.
