Not Enough by Jeanna Sis

German rapper and hip hop artist extraordinaire Jeanna-Sis brightly shines with her latest single “Not Enough”…a hip-hop explosion, with tsunami wave-levels of super fast, super tight rapping…

Jeanna-Sis managed to capture the best of both worlds with “Not Enough”, while being super melodic on the choruses, real catchy melodies and excellent vocal harmonies, it also captures the raw and powerful bombastic beats of hip-hop during the verses.

…so for the chorus, the beats take a step back and give the spotlight and centerstage to the brilliant vocal melodies…and boy does it shine…like an absolute diamond.

…and on the other hand, during the verse, the hip-hop beats come knockin’ down the door, not only that, but Jeanna-Sis masterfully flows like nothing in the world with super fast lyrical sections…it’s mind melting…

To put the cherry on top…Jeanna-Sis releases a lyrics video for the song…mesmerizing, drenched in a blue, white and pink haze, something that comes right out of a super stylish dream sequence of some kind…the colors and motion effect in the video is spot on…especially when the time comes for that ultra-fast rapping section…it blows the mind.

For all fans of music out there in the world, this song is for you, make sure you check out Jeanna-Sis’ latest single “Not Enough”…it’s not to be missed at all costs.

Wishing the brilliant artist all the best in the world.

Cheers!

Barton Hartshorn’s songwriting gleams on ‘Sister Bird’

0

Barton Hartshorn’s solo career has seen him release four albums as a solo artist. Unveiling Headquarter Café over a decade ago, it was during a trip to Australia that  I Died of Boredom & Came Back As Me took shape. That sent Barton to European success and two USA tours before he returned to the studio with his band and recorded Not What I Expected To Hope For and then Manchester Sun. Now returning with his next major project Everything…, Barton Hartshorn shares a new storyline that is seeing acclaim from across the industry.

The latest teaser for the EP is out now, an emotive single entitled ‘Sister Bird’. As it progresses from sparse folk soundscapes into glowing rock arrangements, the track begins to be filled with intricate melodies, the bass moving around the acoustic guitar rhythms, the twinkling electric guitar arpeggios playing against a distant organ, it all comes together to detail an emotional and spellbinding atmosphere. With the distorted introduction of another electric guitar, the strong blooms into optimism, it’s a beautifully written story, delicate in its themes, but executed with such phenomenal gravity.

Barton shares its place in the story, “The King has finished his speech, finished his ice-cream & stopped waving his spoon around. He needs to sleep it off. Let’s leave him there & walk along the sea front, pick a door that looks like home & walk in. There’s a voice in this quiet place, a woman’s voice. She’s saying something about better times. Think I’ll stay here for a while. Will you leave a light on for me?”

Indyana unveils the emotive cinema of ‘the moon in the morning’

0

Immediately underway with a raw and captivating energy, Indyana‘s ‘the moon in the morning’ injects rhythmic energy into ethereality, darting acoustic guitar arpeggios and leaping vocal performance among the delicate sound design it sits on. As the track progresses, strings fill the atmosphere, their melodies echoing and falling through the gorgeously intricate chord progression, indyana’s vocals are able to capture ineffable emotions through an almost alien choice of direction.

Continuing its nature into the next section, the sound of toms and timpani ring out through the mix, as a self-described ‘siren’ vocal calls out into the distance, the vocal harmonies following her sound with instrumentation matched plucks of bright tones. Falling into a darker moment, Indyana‘s now comfortingly angelic vocal performance returns, guiding listeners into a vast climax, cinematic, painful, and joyous, pushing all the emotions a human can feel into a melting pot.

Indyana explains the release, “My cinema-folk lullaby ‘the moon in the morning’ is an ode to how a mere glimpse of the moon, especially at peculiar times of day, has humbled my human struggle more times than I could ever count. Whenever I see the moon in the morning (or in the afternoon), my inner child can do nothing but gasp at its presence, as we are taught from a young age that the moon is only a thing we see at night.

My siren-esque vocal line (see timecode 2:18), or as I like to call her ‘the moon siren’, was added quite far into the writing process, as I felt like the song needed a powerful cry out to the ether. This, in combination with my intricately composed viola lines throughout, strongly elevated what was once a soft lullaby I wrote in my bedroom to something so much more profound and emotionally gripping.

I hope my track draws others’ attention to this great power of our moon. We are all ‘navy babies’ (children of the galaxy) but it is easy for us to get caught up in our earthling activities and forget to simply… exist. Allow this song to cast you into the depths of yourself; to let your emotions run wild like the rising and falling of the tide.”

Self-produced and able to bring classical training to her cinematic pop arrangements, Indyna’s sound is set to arrive at its next peak with her debut album ‘the navy baby’, which 2024 has seen her steadily tease with gleaming singles. Alongside this, Indyana has been performing across Melbourne, supporting the likes of Paige and gracing Sidney Myer Music Bowl and John Cain Arena. An exciting year ahead of her, Indyana is one to watch.

Imagine If Black Boys Just Smiled at Each Other by Marcelo Cervone

Marcelo Cervone’s latest cinematic marvel, the original soundtrack for ‘Imagine If Black Boys Just Smiled at Each Other’, an independent short film by Kenton Jordan Thomas, is a surreal blend of cinematic, electronic, and ambient music that is thought provoking and emotive.

A composer, based in London, Marcelo Cervone’s work on this composition is a clear indication of the man’s masterful command over the cinematic edge that he was ensured of creating a soundtrack for. The results are sublime. Calculated, mature, and greatly varied, the little-under-5-minutes piece shifts fluently, smoothly, and swiftly from harsh and dangerous electronic beginnings to provocative and colorful, piano-led ambience that glides the majority of the piece as it grinds to a serene halt.

The gentle piano arpeggios are present throughout the piece, taking a short break only as the orchestral choir calls its calls before the abrupt end of harshness and the introduction of the pads-driven ambience. The professional restraint in Cervone’s handling of the choir, the abrasive synth arpeggios to the synth strings in the ambient section, the snippets of spoken word, all the way to the introduction of slightly more intricate piano work in the piece’s final chapters are all clear hallmarks of a composer who knows how to set a scene, and how to shift it into another scene with silken smoothness and precision.

Cervone’s work for ‘Imagine If Black Boys Just Smiled at Each Other’ is an auditory cinematic delight that alarms the senses, then soothes them, and between the two states a capable composer is hard at work laying down seemingly infinite musical pieces into a beautiful, nuanced tapestry of sound.

Materialistic Rani by Cinnamon Sandhu

Just like that entrancing effect of a Bollywood action drama, the gorgeous Punjabi and a hasty pace, along with more than a few unusual instrumental cues, all make ‘Materialistic Rani’ a perfectly engaging piece of intercontinental pop.

Cinnamon Sandhu, a singer and songwriter based in Vancouver, Canada, is flaunting her Punjabi roots and feminist spirit in ‘Materialistic Rani’, Rani meaning queen in both Hindi and Punjabi. The song is anthemic and emotive, with dramatic chord changes and instrumental detail as colorful as a Saree.

Perhaps the word “Materialistic” could be misconstrued by some, but Sandhu has penned the song with pure feministic encouragement in mind, aiming to land at an anthemic, empowering piece that tells women all over the world to follow their dreams as boldly as they can, and looking at it from that angle, the word makes perfect earthly sense. Nonetheless, Sandhu has succeeded in creating a dynamic, energetic pop tune that would appeal to far more than a ladies-only audience.

A beautifully written piece of pop music, ‘Materialistic Rani’ is made exceptionally cool with its delightfully colorful arrangement, lush with synths and pads, ethnic stringed solos, and invaluable addition from the horns. Bustling with detail, ‘Materialistic Rani’ is a rich, sophisticated, emboldening, multicultural , and feminist anthem.
