Album: The Era Of Possibilities by The Screaming Pope

Since 1979, George Bolton – The Screaming Pope – has been crafting techno music and working as a session musician and  songwriter with many bands…now, he’s released his new album “The Era Of Possibilities”, a 12 track journey into uncharted territories…and he takes us through it gracefully…

Originally, the music veteran is a graduate of art school…and he does his artwork and his music videos…actually he worked on many music videos with producers with plays on VH1 and MTV.

Let me tell you the story of the journey that’s encapsulated into “The Era Of Possibilities”…

The Screaming Pope starts his album with a very cinematic and storytelling track titled “Intro To The Era”…it’s exactly what it claims to be, an intro to this journey and into a whole new world.

…with very strong and clear storytelling elements, George makes sure we fully understand what kind of journey we’re embarking on…

“The Era Of Possibilities” is a uniquely melodic electronic album…full of beautiful melodies, hooks, beats and musicality…while also being very dynamic and varied…you’ll get to experience many sides of George here…and we also get to explore many sides of ourselves too.

For example, with its third track “Your Heart Is The Power”…George explores a chill mood with a very catchy musical progression that keeps you enchanted for its duration…

…then you have something like his track “Ghost”…it’s a completely different world out there…it is dark and edgy sounding…it’s like George is making a soundtrack to his ideas.

…and once again you get the musical diversity with a track like “Don’t Squeeze The Shaman”…something that starts with a catchy piano riff then builds up bit by bit…with a very solid and tight percussive background to its main melodies…this track is more downbeat that the other tracks…it’s a slow burner…

“You” is another excellent example of the variety and musical flexibility that George shows in this album…it’s a song, not an instrumental with vocal elements…it’s also not a techno or electronic song, thought it has some electronic elements…but it is a very strong musical song with guitars and prominent pop/rock elements…George is not exploring many musical ideas and concepts here…it’s not his first time around here, obviously, he’s leading the way more than exploring it.

It feels like he’s been there before, but we haven’t…he’s taking our hands and showing us the way and maneuvering us with these different musical concepts…and he’s one of the best explorers out there to make this happen.

The album is an absolute blast of enjoyment to go through and experience it all…try even to do that in one sitting, you’ll lose sense of time and get completely sucked into this amazing world that George has created masterfully…

Every track on “The Era Of Possibilities” is like a fully developed character with his own background and personal growth in a movie…each track has its own charisma and personality…

I keep thinking of my experience with this album as reading a novel…first of all, it’s more than the sum of its parts, whether character development, story, imagination…”The Era Of Possibilities” is a highly recommended listen to anyone who wants to enjoy a rich musical experience…it also has a rap track…I can’t stop talking about this album…

Wishing George, The Screaming Pope, all the best in the world with his personal and professional lives…he definitely deserves that and a lot more.

Can’t wait to see what kind of journey he’ll take us on next time…I’m sure it’s going to be an epic one…go check out his album “The Era Of Possibilities” right now…you deserve to experience this one.

Cheers!

EP: Visions by Nickon Faith

Manchester Based artist Nickon Faith released a new dynamic EP titled “Visions”…and if you’re a fan of EDM go right now and give it a listen…you owe it to yourself…

The UK has graced the world with many iconic musicians, in many different areas of the sonic realm…if we start to name some of these artists, it will never end…and now, more new and modernized artists are contributing to this list…and Nickon Faith is further establishing himself as one of the greats of EDM with his latest EP “Visions”.

“Visions” has been released through the label ‘Troubleshoot’ and it is its fourth release…

The EP has 4 tracks…3 of which are originals with the fourth one being a remix by Jon Selbo…

“Visions” kicks things off with the EP’s title track…

With its storytelling introduction…”Visions” kicks things off to a great start…

The energy that hits you in the face once everything starts up is definitely palpable…

…beats full of energy and some technical beat works here too, melodic lines that tell a story…

Such a great start.

Taking your second step into the EP you’ll reach “In Bloom”…

The track starts out with more energy…to keep it going…

This one has more of a trance feeling to it…the sounds and compositions gives you that feeling not just of trance music, but that of an actual trance…it sucks you into one.

…it also mixes things up with a very engaging percussive section…

Delving deeper into the EP, we find ourselves at the third track, “Don’t Make Me Wait”…which is the last one in the originals, before going into the fourth and last track, that is the remix track.

“Don’t Make Me Wait” is the only track that has vocals on it…and the vocals are utilized in a way to make it more into a musical element rather than an actual vocal line.

This is done in a balanced manner to keep you engaged while also having minimal lyrics…very minimal…the lyrics are the 4 words in the track title actually…it’s refreshing seeing an artist challenging himself and making the most out of it like this…

…Jon Selbo’s remix of “Don’t Make Me Wait” takes it into another direction completely though…

It focuses more on the energy, amplifies it…leaves some of the main lead vocals out of it…but still uses it in more in the background…leveraging it into a sound effect more than the main focus…and focuses heavily on the energy and beat of the track…this is hardcore EDM stuff right here.

Nickon Faith, we wish you all the best in both your professional and personal careers…you deserve it.

Can’t wait to see what you have for us next…we’ll be on the lookout.

Cheers!

Conceived after a series of meditations that got Kwun in tune with the natural state of happiness and joy, this gorgeous cut comes as an expression of this state, describing what happiness is, and imploring us all to just… live. Oh Well by Jay Wood

0

All the way from down under, Jay Wood hails from Australia and is connecting with the world once again through her latest single “Oh Well”…an emotional acoustic ride through great memories and endless greeneries…such a happy place to be…yes, but that happy place was after a long a grueling journey…let’s get to know more about Jay’s “Oh Well” and more about her extraordinary life.

After a car accident that nearly ended Jay’s life…she was lucky to have survived and went on a seven-year rehabilitation plan just to get back to the basics…learning how to stand, walk, play music…Jay is a role model in overcoming whatever comes your way, she could have easily stopped as many do…but she didn’t, she was extremely resilient, she stood tall in the face of life and pushed it away to make room for her own life and for the achievements that were to be…

“Oh Well” is the culmination of this journey…while the music is in a very happy place, the journey behind it was not that happy…and Jay’s message to the whole world through “Oh Well”-is that you too can do it, hope is there, march on…

Jay is very involved in being a huge motivator for people and sharing hope with the world…and we thank her for that.

On the musical side…it looks like Jay made peace with all that happened and put it behind her back…the music in “Oh Well” is very happy and hopeful, which is the message she intends to share with the world…but also that confirms that she is over her challenges and feels at peace.

The acoustic nature of “Oh Well” is like a very upbeat water-color painting that keeps on giving off happy vibes…Jay’s vocals are very reassuring and comforting, with a very catchy ‘oooh, aaah’ riff, she caught our hearts…

“Oh Well” sounds and feels very full and fulfilling…without cramming a lot of musical instruments, the sonic spectrum is perfectly balanced.

Jay, we find inspiration in your life and your art and we thank you for that.

Wishing you all the best in your personal and professional lives…you deserve it and a lot more. Cheers!

Illusion by millhope

0

millhope’s Illusion is the start of what seems like a very good and colorful journey. With a stunning first single off of a debut, millhope is a new name that’s here to stay.

Based in Cologne, Germany, millhope is an up-and-coming composer of electronic, instrumental music in the vein of Tycho’s Indietronica. On ‘Illusion’, millhope’s first single, he manages to fuse different influences together in a rich mix that bounces and heaves with colors and textures.

The song’s simple composition is accommodating for its wealth of layers. With smooth synths playing memorable leads, other ones playing Muse-inspired arpeggios, others populating the arrangement with lush pad sounds, and on top of punchy, electronic drums that establish unerring grooves, the song is home a wealth of textures and timbres that blend in delightfully well, which is a hallmark of a capable producer.

‘Illusion’ easily benefits from being instrumental. With its multiple lead synths beautifully phrased and voiced, the lines played leave no need for words, instead satisfying this with electrical warmth that paints a picture with quite lush colors and detail. ‘Illusion’ is a promising debut that left us hungry for much more.

Go Away by Tammy Mariah

0

The calm and collected pop debut of British singer and songwriter Tammy Mariah provides a role model for the younger girls in her audience by showing them how to step away from toxicity and mind games in their lives, while providing us all with a summery pop banger to enjoy.

Northampton-based Tammy Mariah is an up-and-coming pop star whose sound, while not breaking any ground, comes across on her debut single ‘Go Away’ as fresh, nuanced, crisp, and exciting. On the single, a self-penned note to self from Mariah, she displays an artistic grasp over the sound, which shows in her relatively restrained vocal delivery and mature lyricism. The first taster from Tammy’s upcoming LP, the song does a brilliant job displaying Tammy as a confident young woman not only in control of her craft, but of her life’s nuances and relations too, and for a TikTok personality with 100k+ followers, the image will sure be an inspiration to countless others.

Mariah’s chilled sound comes with zero-to-no frills. The synths are well chosen and are punchy in the mix, so are the electronic beats. The production details are plentiful and are all executed nicely. From the bombastic sweeps, soaring swoosh pads, and Mariah’s own metallic-sounding harmony lines, they all work to create a soundscape that’s lush and full of detail. ‘Go Away’ is a catchy new pop stunner from an uprising talent who has got a ton of potential coming her way.
