EP: Emotions by Aanvi . S

0

At only the age of 10, Aanvi fell in love with music and since then she’s pursuing it with absolute passion…already released 2 songs that were met with huge praises and a handwritten note from the former prime minister, Aanvi is breaking boundaries and going into uncharted territories.

Aanvi’s latest release is not a single anymore, she’s now releasing a 4 track EP titled “Emotions”…further solidifying her place as the youngest exceptional Kiwi artist…with dreams of being the youngest New Zealander to ever win a Grammy.

“Emotions” is-as the title suggests-a huge spectrum of emotions put together in a very compact and concise album.

Starting out the album with the very energetic pop funk song “Light”…

It’s a very uplifting and upbeat intro experience into the album and a very catchy one at that.

The funky guitar strumming is pretty iconic here…the song is also 2 minutes and 42 seconds, so it’s once again concise and to the point…and the point here is to suck you into this experience that’s about to start…and this is only the beginning…

Going into the second song “Speak Up”…Aanvi maintains the energy going so far…this song has both subtle and downbeat sections and energetic upbeat choruses.

…the lyrics here are exceptionally hopeful and the feeling that these words are coming from Aanvi, especially at that young age is remarkable…such an amount of positivity and energy have to be seen from the whole world.

Dialing back the energy dial back a bit in the next song “Mirror”, Aanvi takes us on a piano driven pop ballad experience with some hip-hop influences on the beat section…a very welcome mix.

With “Change Myself”, Aanvi taps into her emotional anthemic side…this song is all about bringing people together…which is actually a theme in “Emotions” and with this song it’s one of those songs that actually get people singing together…highly anthemic with catchy vocal melodies….

Aanvi is surely a force to be reckoned with, at only 10 she’s already made huge waves with her talent, we can only see her star shine brighter by the day.

We can’t wait to see what Aanvi has to show the world…we’ll be on the lookout.

Wishing Aanvi all the best in the world.

Cheers!

With My Companion by showalter

Songs like ‘With My Companion’ make me strongly reconsider the power and place of the acoustic guitar. As a guitar player myself, I can attest to the delicacy of this instrument and its fickleness. How much can a song full to the brim with intertwining guitar lines sound skeletal and empty, but put in the right hands, a few lightly picked notes can carry a punch as strong as the heaviest rocking arrangements? Names like Bon Ives and Haux are among those few right hands I spoke about, and after discovering showalter, he falls easily into this list.

Inspired by childhood nostalgia and familial trauma, Joseph Conde retreated to near isolation as he dreamt up the six songs of his second EP as Showalter. Titled Lambsbread EP, ‘With My Companion’ is the new single off of the upcoming EP. Written in warm remembrance of his dad who passed away when Conde was just 16, the album remembers the best of times Conde had with his late father. ‘With My Companion’ revolves around a steadily-paced and gentle guitar line, heightened by surreal synth pads and atmospheric sounds that placed me directly on a sandy ocean shore, with the fading sun, and the wails of seagulls, while Conde’s pulling vocal delivery weaved their soothing spell over me as the inspired lyrics kept my mind alert throughout.

Easily a rich, haunting, and unforgettable release from the North-Carolina-based showalter. I’m now impatiently waiting for the upcoming EP. There’s something to the quality of ‘With My Companion’ that assures me of showalter’s sensibilities and choices, he has gained a new fan.

EP: Enlightening by Taavi Daft

0

Taavi Daft, the Swiss artist just released a 2 track EP called “Enlightening” and it is all about relaxing and enjoying the time flow…it’s a concise ethereal masterpiece that could easily be meditative and healing, transcending music.

Taavi has been playing music since a very early stage, he plays the guitar and the piano…however, electronic music always fascinated him…

He decided to pursue the electronic dream…and he went for it…he started as a producer for other artists, and it was going fast…actually too fast, he had a health breakdown…realizing that he needs to keep things slower…

When that breakdown changed his life…he thought of utilizing his talents in composing music to help people…help them relax, help them get together, help them find their inner peace…and that is exactly what he did on his EP “Enlightening”.

He created 2 tracks, “Surrender” and “Coalescence”…and they will be your gateway, your portal into the world of relaxation and letting go of any negative thought or emotion…

“Surrender”…as the name implies…is a simple request from Taavi…it’s asking us to surrender to the flow of the musical emotions and to let go…inviting us on a journey of self-discovery.

The amount of layers in “Surrender” is monstrous…it’s like the ocean, the more you go in, the more you’re sure it is a lot undiscovered…it’s like it never ends and keeps on sucking you in a very soft and mellow world.

After you surrender and give in completely…you go on to the next track and that is “Coalescence”…which also as the name implies…it’s where we find our true selves and fuse with it…it’s only after that first journey that we let ourselves go that we find our true self so that we can merge and become one with ourselves.

Nothing can be said to convey the healing power of Taavi’s music, especially in the EP “Enlightening”…it is one of these things that you have to experience to believe…and we highly recommend it to you and you and you…and anyone who wants to relax, let go and heal.

Taavi, thank you for this mesmerizing and healing journey.

We wish you all the best in both your professional and personal lives…we can’t really wait for the next experience you’ll give us…we’ll be waiting. Cheers!

Album: Season of Amnesia by Parjam Parsi

0

Once again, Parjam Parsi hits us with his emotionally moving and artistic combination of both a story and a musical album…this time it’s through his album “Season of Amnesia”…Parjam’s signature emotional storytelling is back again with another story that he wrote in 2018.

The story goes like this…as Parjam described…

…after she left, a few days later, I awoke from a troubled dream to find myself turned into a mirror. With a slight cold feeling on my back, I could see red in the middle of my body…I shouted helplessly “What’s happened to me? The mirror thought…it wasn’t a dream anymore…the mirror was in a hotel room.

The room was a proper small room. In the corner of the room beside the window, a man sat on an old piece of furniture with a gun and a recorder in his hand…he sat upright…an old scarf was on his knee, and the mirror man closed his eyes for a moment…heard a gunshot…then looked out the window, rain hit the window…” what if I sleep a little longer and forget all this dark?”…

This story is spread onto “Season of Amnesia”’s 14 tracks…taking its time to develop the emotional side of the story through Parjam’s music.

The album has Parjam’s signature compositional style…the orchestration, the epic moments, the subtle moments, the iconic piano melodies, and the arpeggios.

…it starts with “Years or Days”…

A fitting start to Parjam’s story…the strings take us in until the piano unleashes its melodic sequence halfway into the song, then it’s flipped on its head, and the piano becomes aggressive and shows some bite…

This album also has some good examples of emotional variety…for example, ”Five Letters” takes us into a very dark and melancholic mood…

…another excellent example is “Farewell”…this track picks us up and takes us into a feel-good mood that by that time in the album, you’d feel like you need some hope to hang onto…and that is exactly what this track is, it’s hope…

A change of mood happens once again when you reach “A Sense of Reconnection”…a very relaxing piano-centric track that feels more like a meditative experience than the other storytelling ones…it has some kind of relaxing and healing energy to it.

Near the end of the album you can experience “Dod”, a track that has a very strong sense of conversation…it might even be the master scene of Parjam’s story…that is how I am interpreting it…

…finally, when you’re at the end of the journey, you arrive at “Which Path To Take”…

Parjam ends his musical journey in “Season of Amnesia” with this hopeful track…he leaves us with positive vibes.

Parjam continues to solidify his place among composers who create a cinematic experience with their works…pushing boundaries and telling unique stories.

We wish Parjam all the best in his professional and personal lives, he’s creating hypnotic cinematic experiences with a meditative side to them, something we all need, especially right now. Cheers!

Paroles Paroles by Jen Ash

0

The half-French half Lebanese, Los Angeles-based chart-topping artist Jen Ash just released a cover of Dalida’s “Paroles Paroles” as an artistic nod to her childhood days and her heritage…an enjoyable ride down memory lane for anyone to experience.

Jen believes in Dalida’s story, how she defied all odds and left everything behind in her country Egypt to pursue her passion and moved to France…Jen admires the courage and strength that Dalida has and wants to keep her music ever living.

Jen’s last single “Trouble” reached the National Radio Hits Top 20 airplay chart and with a music video to follow soon, she’ll affirm her status as a well-established artist even further…something we are in dire need of, especially after experiencing her take on Dalida’s work…we know that Jen’s got a lot of talent and that with everyday passing, her star will surely shine brighter.

Jen’s rendition of “Paroles Paroles” is a vocal plus a Bossa Nova inspired guitar cover…a very emotional yet explosive duo…the emotions that emit from this reaction between the guitar and Jen’s mesmerizing vocal performance are of the most moving of emotions…and when you factor in the history of the original song and artist…it’s an overflowing river of emotions actually.

Jen’s talents are perfectly framed in this song, she just has the guitar with her, and if she sounds good with one instrument, she sounds amazing with a full band…

…and Jen sounds absolutely hypnotic, you forget where and when it is…

A perfect rendition by a perfect artist…of a perfect song.

Jen, we can’t wait to hear you more, we can’t get enough of your voice…we wish you all the best in life, you definitely deserve that and a lot more.

We’ll be on the lookout for the new music you release.

Cheers!

Album: Shiva in flagrante by Jacques Bailhé

0

One of the most unique premises to an album that I’ve probably ever heard is the premise for Jacques Bailhé’s album titled “Shiva in Flagrante”…the album tells the story of the Hindu deity Shiva, but it’s a Harley-Davidson riding Shiva, falling in love and mating with the goddess Parvati and the final track of the album marks the birth of their child.

Jacques is based in LA…and has a very long and extremely established history as a well-known and as impressively talented artist…he’s an artists’ artist for sure…he’s someone who doesn’t shy away from the challenge, and he’s the first one to jump on the ship and go into uncharted territories…a pioneer by all means.

Jacques played bass, and drums, toured the world, recorded at the most prestigious places in the US, and became a monk…he’s done everything, he’s seen everything…and this album is the nectar of all of his life experiences so far…and it’s a sweet and unusual concoction.

With his latest album “Shiva in Flagrante”…he goes beyond the uncharted territories, far beyond that, exploring the intricacies of human emotions…something that is much harder than exploring even outer space…

“Shiva in Flagrante” is a 10-track avant-garde jazz album that tells an extremely unique, original, and unconventional tale.

The album can be listened to on Soundcloud…with thousands of listens for each track already achieved…

The 10 tracks explore many sides of the unique premise and also have emotional variety…

For example, the first track “In The Alley”… has a mythical feeling to its composition, also being avant-garde and experimental but melodic, and it doesn’t stop churning out melodic phrases every couple of seconds…it also has a big band kind of instrumentation and production…

…then you have something like the track after, “Smoke”…it’s a more active and energy-fueled jazz band rendition of a story with lots of quick successive actions…the piano takes the spotlight here…and it throws multiple elements in the mix like a few Latin influences…

You also have something that has a menacing mood to it like “Gimme That”…with unconventional drum patterns and beats, it’s a more technical track with a triumphant feeling to its elements.

…then as you go through this journey, you come across a track like “The 7th Sense”…a very melodic track, it’s spacey, it’s jazzy, it’s horror, it’s sad, it’s everything and it is its own creature…it’s an excellent track.

The album’s title track “Shiva in Flagrante” is the one before the last track, it has its own relatable influence to the actual album’s story…it has its Indian percussive influence very clearly, wears it on its melodic shoulders proudly…

The last track of the album tells the final chapter of the album’s story…it’s titled “The Facts Of Creation” and it tells the story of how Shiva and Parvati had a child by the end of their story.

The album “Shiva In Flagrante” by Jacques Bailhé is a must for anyone who wants a completely out-of-the-box sonic experience…we heard elements we’ve never heard in music before while experiencing this album…a highly artistic recommendation for lovers of jazz, cinematic storytelling, avant-garde music, and experimental melodic musical experiences.

Jacques, we wish you all the best in life, you deserve it…and a lot more.

We can’t wait to hear your next meticulously crafted experience for us…we’ll be on the lookout.

Cheers!

ALL EYEZ by Proklaim

0

Proklaim, the Namibian-born, raised, and based artist just released another single titled “All Eyes”…and it’s not the first time the Namibian king mesmerized us with his songs.

It looks like Proklaim is true to his words…his goal is to keep pushing the boundaries for hip-hop, creating new and engaging songs with a valuable message in the lyrics…

…and when checking out his music, you can easily and instantly ‘find the answers’, as he says in his latest single “All Eyes”…

Proklaim’s songs are very musical, the music is extremely catchy and has the kind of looping structure that you can’t get enough of, on top of that, the production quality of his work is top-notch. “All Eyes” was recorded in Namibia and Mixed by Lu Diaz in Florida…

That collaboration really hit the sonic bullseye…the music is absolutely amazing, the sound quality is perfect and Proklaim’s vocal delivery and flow are definitely iconic…

…and the cherry on top is that almost all of his songs must have a message to it share with the world, something that can make the world a better place… this time, in Proklaim’s words, he says “Follow intuition, the stirring in your chest..often it is true to your purpose”.

I love one of the opening lyrics he says also…he says “Life is about progress”…

You gotta keep progressing, you gotta keep striving, you gotta keep going forward…there’s no other way to go other than forward.

When you look at Proklaim’s music, it always has some of the most unique and catchy music, beats, and vocal flow…really, Proklaim, leave some for the rest…

“All Eyes” was released 9 days ago…and I think it is a hit in the making, we just don’t know it yet.

Proklaim, every time I listen to your songs, it captures me, you’re doing something different and something excellent…keep’em coming.

We wish you all the best in all of your musical endeavors and in your personal life too…you really deserve it.

Can’t wait to see what you always come up with next…we’ll be on the lookout.

Moschino by Harun Rune

0

British-born, London-based artist Harun Rune released his new single “Moschino”, a dark rap/hip-hop hybrid concise 2 minutes track…let’s see how it came out!

Harun is a multi-talented artist that works in many areas of the art world, focusing on music, design, fashion…among many more.

He released “Moschino” on the 8th of May…it has been just over a month and it has garnered more than 200K listens on Spotify already…

You can however find a video for this song on youtube that was uploaded more than a year ago…the music video is a very artistic one, shot in black and white, and showcases the visual art side of what Harun shares with the world…his works definitely has some mojo to it…and that mojo is something that Harun brings to the table.

“Moschino” is a dark rap/hip-hop song, with a hint of a cinematic approach and an earth shattering-speaker exploding bass line that pumps the energy…even though the pace of the song is fast, the bass and drums section has a lot of energy to share around.

Harun delivers his vocal performance with his iconic British accent and distinctive flow…the song doesn’t exceed the 2 minutes mark, it’s actually 1 second less than 2 minutes…so what we’re getting is a very focused labor of love kind of song that gives you exactly what you need…your fix of dark rap.

Harun, we wish you all the best in the world, keep’em coming.

Cheers!
