Hemispheres by A Lone Acacia

A Lone Acacia is a UK-based musician, producer, and songwriter. The new single “Hemispheres,” which will be released on June 17 and was recorded, mastered, and produced in its entirety by A Lone Acacia, is a fantastic combination of a range of styles and sounds.

The song opens with a progressive piano motif, which is followed by the emergence of a resonant drum pattern. The guitar’s inclusion later in the song provides a substantial amount of depth and variety. If I were to characterize this tune, I would say it resembles a DnB track with a slower tempo. Upon a second listen, I could almost detect the rock influences in its composition. All of the instrumental elements in the tune collaborate to create mesmerizing harmonies.

While the music maintains a repetitive fundamental theme, the subtle variations in piano notes and percussion provoke a remarkable sensation of escape in the listener. Melodically, the music is hypnotically serene; the simple yet compelling rhythms quickly hypnotize the listener into cultivating feelings of relaxation and conjuring images of tranquil landscapes.

Not About Angels by Karen Harding

0

I’ve always been addicted to hearing singles’ covers and seeing how each artist can turn the same song into their own style, characterized by their spirit and artistic identity. And here, Karen Harding took Birdy’s Not About Angels and turned it into her own flood of emotions.

Not About Angels were one of the singles in the famous movie, “The Fault in Our Stars.” I’m not a fan of the movie, actually, but I love Birdy! This single is one of my favorites because of the exceptional vocal performance and touching lyrical conflict. And I’m not going to try to put what the single represents lyrically in other words than Karen Harding’s words:

“’ Not About Angels’ has always meant a lot to me. Lyrically, the song is ambiguous, however to me it represents the space, or limbo between holding onto something, or someone, you love from your past and taking the step towards something for your future. Sometimes, we long to hang on to those things that we love, but those things can often hold us back from moving forward to amazing things that the future holds for us.” – Karen Harding

Straight out of Australia comes the pianist/singer, Karen Harding. With her piano musicianship and poignant vocals, she was able to deliver a remarkable performance of Birdy’s Not About Angels. To be honest, what I love the most about covers is how the artist can make it sound as if I’m listening to it for the first time, and this version is more like Birdy’s one with the piano notes and calming vocals, but, on the other hand, I’m not picturing any other way. It’s better to stay that simple, yet effective. Karen’s vocals make it hard to care about anything else. Her ethereal voice goes from velvet to powerful smoothly and conveys the lyrics in such a moving way. On one of the many listens, I gave to this track, I paid more attention to the piano notes and how soulful they were. Singing delicately along with Karen, making together a perfect duo.

To enjoy this marvelous voice, you can listen to the rest of Karen Harding’s singles, including original work and other covers like Sara Bareilles’s Brave.

EP: Crack a Smile by Saticöy

Award-winning for the best pop track and best contemporary R&B track in 2021, “Saticöy” published their most recent EP release, “Crack a Smile,” on the 25th of May, 2022. Saticöy are currently on the go, with a lot of fun live performances throughout this year with great pop tracks that have been released recently.

The band was assembled by its members; Derek Long (on guitar and vocals) with an awesome voice that adds plenty of vibes to their tracks; Jaron Takach (on drums and production) who has a great sound that gets you head-bopping; Tim Greer (on keys/synth and saxophone) adding a special smooth playing during any song that was created with his saxophone and keys; and Jonny Averbook (on bass/synth bass, and guitar) who adds a deep tone to the tracks with his bass. They met in college-except for Greer-and played in a local jam band, and eventually put together their talents and synced together to create their own project, “Saticöy.”

The songwriting on the title track, “Crack a Smile,” gets you attached to its melody and lyrics, and singing along with it, as the lyrics rhyme really well with the music. Since their release, there has been utter confidence that lit them up with greatness and extraordinary talent that caught a lot of different people’s attention with their soothing rich vocals and instrumental creations in their tunes that are a mix of Alternative Rock and Soul Pop. Also, being the famous cool kids in the town has made a great impression on them to go on with creating more awesome and impressive music of their own.

There is a beautiful motivation hidden in the lyrics, such as, “Take your lessons from your losses.” They’ve got really great opportunities and I am pretty sure that they’re going to have massive tours with great music coming up that will hype up the crowd.

I totally can say that they immensely showed a great deal of innovative mind while creating their video for the track “Crack a Smile” that gives out some positive vibes to your day and kicks you up with some cool electro beats. It’s like listening to it while having a drink with your friends will give you crazy ideas to do and will literally crack a smile on your face with the idiotic things that come to one’s mind.

SOS by Jordan Lively

Jordan Lively just released her debut single with a very important topic to share with the world. She is a musician, singer, and songwriter who made her main mission to spread mental health awareness and shed the light on it what better way to spread a message and tackle an important topic than music? The artist is originally from a small town in South Carolina but moved to Philadelphia, New Jersey where she is currently based. Lively voice has an unusual color with a unique attitude and a charismatic vocal character. The song’s beauty lies in its simplicity and effortlessness with poetic and meaningful lyrics. Although the lyrics’ core is sad and a call for help, the music is energized and upbeat.

The song was released less than 2 weeks ago and yet it’s already on the main page of Apple Music as one of the Best New songs and got featured on 3 different playlists on Apple Music; “Southern Heat”, “New in Alternative” and “New in pop” which is a huge step and recognition for an independent artist’s debut release. The song was mixed by the renowned, Grammy award winner Craig Alvin.

The artist has a very beautiful line on her profile that shows an empathetic side of her character “My Journey is your journey. Let’s talk about our dreams and let’s share our love for music.” she also believes that “many people walk around with a smile on their face but are drowning on the inside.” She also says that this is not a song the world wants but needs!!

Tales from Tono by C-Beem

C-Beem is an artist based in Leicester, United Kingdom who is about to release his latest EP “Tales from Tono” by the end of this month. We got lucky and got early access and it sure is unique and unusual, it’s a new take on Japanese-inspired music with a modern, fun twist. C-Beem has been releasing music since 2021, with some of them gaining huge recognition like “Ed Starker Future” which has over 7.7K views on YouTube only. The artist was featured in several shows like BBC Introducing Tom Robinson Mixtape, Exile FM Trust the Doc, X4 single of the Week Northwich FM, and others.

The EP has a total of 5 songs that are inspired by “TONO”, an ancient village in Japan “Where magic, dreams, beauty, and terror mingle within the island’s rich store of folk and fairy tales.” These tales the artist came across were originally inspired by “The legends of Tono” a book by Kunio Yanagita published in 1910.

The synths, bass sound, and electronic sound effects are dominating the overall tracks with a Japanese theme. It starts with “Those Hills” which opens with a subtle bass line and synths playing a motif on loop then moves to an interesting percussive line influenced by Japanese tunes. Several different sound effects and instruments are introduced throughout like the Tambourine. The vocal line is recitative, telling a story with music in the background.

“Far Away Village” is the only instrumental track in the EP, it opens with a common Japanese melody and then an elaborated line of synths and sound effects giving it a more modern vibe. The third track is “Bow to the Kappa” a different vibe with a groovy bass line and a disco, dance beat with minimal lyrics and the line ‘bow to the kappa’ on loop. “Mayoiga” has a hypnotic-like sound and mood with a very interesting, distorted noise improvisation.

The last song is “Oshirasama – star-crossed Lovers”, this one is stacked up in layers of sound, the backing vocals have a significant part in this one while the main vocalist is reciting a story through singing and a marching percussive line effect is played that is close to the sound of a Timpani. The lead vocalist moves to a scatting improvisation part which adds a jazzy aesthetic to it.

Now after listening to this EP, I’m curious to find out more about this artist’s background, influences, and musical skills. It might not be the kind of music to play on a road trip but it’s undoubtedly interesting and different, and it’ll make you experience the Japanese music elements in a fresh and modern way.

35 by Chad Lewine

“Hello, hello. It’s Chad here.” This sentence is the intro to Chad Lewine’s latest single, “35,” but it’s also a new beginning, the beginning of freedom and life for each of us.

I want. I want. I want. I don’t know how much of it I write as Lewine sang in his song, but what I do know is that he wants what you want, even when he’s going through a midlife crisis at the age of 35. Maybe you want a house or money or to quit smoking, and he’s also sure that you want to survive.

“35” is a rational track whose words are impressively, overly, positive, conveying to us a life experience that we all live wherever we are, including Lewine. There are several acoustic keys in this track that offer something new and exciting.

The music in “35” penetrates your ear immediately upon hearing it, beginning with heavy bass and trap loops before entering the sound very quickly. Captivating ambiance through the use of futuristic synths and heavy bass elements accompanying seductive vocals.

“35” is all you need to hear to feel better about growing. Because it’s inevitable, why not listen to Chad Lewine and do it cheerfully?

Transhuman Dreams by XYLAROO

Xylaroo started in Maidstone, Kent in the mid-2000s with both band members and sisters, Coco and Holly. They are always on the move. However, they moved to different countries and cities. I bet that’s where their fun in doing music started with different ideas and cultures that they placed themselves in. They have recently released a new single on the 20th of May, 2022 with the philosophically interesting theme “Transhuman,” which was based on a podcast interview with “Podsongs,” which they got inspired from and called the track “Transhuman Dreams.”

I personally liked this track and how it dives deep into one’s soul with many questions that drove my mind to look into transhumanism, which is often represented in films as a negative aspect of humanity, where there is a negative plot twist causing damage.

Reading some articles about this topic is really interesting, and one of the articles I read once about professor Andy Miad of Salford University mentioned that ”this topic gets people to think differently about the range of things but it gets us to think critically about some of those limitations.” It got me to dig deep into these philosophical ideas, which made me more in love with the track.

The harmonic slow music and smooth clean voice are so resilient and work up your imagination in this track “Transhuman Dreams” and have a phenomenal vibe that can get you traveling through the depths of your imagination. Quoting from the track lyrics, “A natural death and a life well lived From baby steps, your spreading wings. Why do we fear the final destination? The journey, age, disease, my legacy.”

This band got my attention because of how amazingly they create their music that matches the mood of the track while listening to other tracks that are exquisite and unique. I am really excited about their upcoming releases because they got me hooked on their music. So far, I went to their most-listened track on Spotify, “I Bet You Looked Good on the Dance Floor” from the album “Sunshine” and the album “Sweetooth” and got my attention with many other songs.

You can leave their albums to play for you randomly, which will carry you into different dimensions and times to get you through the day.

Stuck On Earth by T-Bruin

0

With his latest EP, “Stuck On Earth,” T-Bruin, a New York-based rapper, is willing to take us on a rollercoaster of genuine emotions, a variety of instruments, brilliant, relatable lyrical, and solid Hip-Hop.

The EP may be titled “Stuck On Earth,” but its four tracks will take you places. You’ll find yourself facing a bright light of motivation by the sun, entering a contemplative mood in T-Bruin’s universe, going back and forth in your memories, and giving your future a spin. The EP, with 12-minute tracks, has rich melodies with instruments like strings, brass, bass, and piano; vivid beats; organic emotions.

A cinematic intro provided by some epic strings playing is what unpicks the first track, “SUN GAZING.” Once the intro wins you over and entices you to listen, it progresses with a voice introducing the artist, female backing vocals with Soul vibes in the background, and a 90s Hip-Hop atmosphere all over the place. And, of course, the star of the show, T-Bruin, with an outstanding performance, taking you back to the good old days.

Next, we’re up for a date with some jazzy vibes in T-Bruin’s personal universe, in “MY UNIVERSE.” It’s lyrical and feels like T-Bruin is giving us a tour of his mind. It’s the longest track on the EP with the most interesting storytelling. The soothing brass brightens the mood, while at the same time, the kicking percussion adds vitality. By the midsection, its pace picks up and the vocals flow smoothly in a peppy atmosphere. By the end, you’ll find yourself wondering: “If I were to welcome someone to my own universe, how would I describe it? Do I have control over logic and emotion?”

Before you hit the play button on the third track, “TUG OF WAR,” you’ll immediately conjure up your memories of playing a tug of war game, and to me, it involves two things: a thrilling challenge and exhausting effort. It features Xiolynn on vocals with an ear-grabbing, tender, silky voice. Her, singing: “Pushin’, Pullin’” will, indeed, stable the memories you conjured.  T-Bruin’s vocals shift to fit the sentimental atmosphere and be more soulful. The instrumentation adds depth to the track and blends well with the vocals.

Leaving you with a dose of both positivity and uncertainty, in “10,000 HOURS.” A dreamy vibe with the soft piano notes, along with uplifting percussion and romantic brass, makes you loosen up and listen to what T-Bruin has to say. What’s great about his motivational writing and performance is that it’s not toxic positivity; rather, it’s genuine. He tells you his story and tells you that just because he struggled doesn’t mean you will either. pushing you to get what you’ve done while questioning its worth with you, exemplifying human conflicted feelings.

Whether you’re into the golden age of Hip-Hop or have more futuristic taste and are a fan of rappers like Drake and Kanye West, you’ll like what T-Bruin has to offer and appreciate the quality of work he has done in “Stuck On Earth” below.
