NOTHA 1 DOWN (MINI) by Proklaim

0

“NOTHA 1 DOWN (Mini)” is the latest single by African Hip Hop artist Proklaim. Like the title suggests, this track has a very short runtime, coming in at 1 minute and 15 seconds. It’s a heavily concentrated dose of lyrical storytelling, broken up by a strong melodic hook.

This approach was taken deliberately by Proklaim to cater to the fried attention spans of people. It’s designed for social media. But the strong melodic hook makes it adaptable to car rides or even being played at stadiums. An effective approach that trades in the usual depth of lyrical hip-hop for a more focused dose of melodic hip-hop with punchy, addictive production.

For those with an interest in rhyming schemes, the verse mostly follows one scheme, and the delivery is absolutely spot on. Not a lot of variance in the schemes, which is expected in such a small piece of music. But what is there is executed with finesse.

Proklaim recorded the track at Pen Pushaz Studios with engineering by Wojtek Majewski at Audio Art Namibia. The production process was spontaneous – He laid down the verse and freestyled the hook in a reportedly  “extremely quick” session to capture the raw energy of it.

Proklaim’s goal with “NOTHA 1 DOWN (Mini)” is to inspire and urge audiences to be the best version of themselves. Continuous self-improvement and self-empowerment are the message here. I will personally be on the lookout for more releases as Proklaim continues to push this narrative.

Album: Zoo Deutschland by Raubtier Kollektiv

0

A FEROCIOUS VISION OF GERMANY’S CONCRETE JUNGLE!

With Zoo Deutschland, Raubtier Kollektiv tears open the bars of German hip-hop and drags listeners straight into a world where survival is animalistic and nothing is sugarcoated. The Hamburg-based rapper’s nine-track concept album doesn’t just nod to street life; it reframes it as a visceral menagerie, where every predator, prey, and scavenger represents someone who has fought, schemed, or bled in the city’s underbelly.

“Der Elefant” stomps forward with booming bass and commanding authority. The elephant becomes a metaphor for strength rooted in wisdom rather than brute force, and the track sets the stage for the complex hierarchy Raubtier Kollektiv constructs throughout the record. By the time “Krokodil Tränen” arrives, the mood curdles into venom: a ruthless dismantling of fake tears and hollow posturing in rap culture, delivered with biting precision over sharp, theatrical production.

The album’s centerpiece, “Adler Perspektive,” soars in another direction entirely. Orchestral swells and haunting piano lines lift the track into cinematic territory, while the lyrics unravel the cold loneliness of success. The delivery shifts from sharp-edged flow to a wounded, almost tender voice, revealing the price of rising above the rest. It’s here that Zoo Deutschland fully reveals itself as more than just street rap; it’s a meditation on power, ambition, and isolation.

“Gorilla Geschäfte” thunders with trap-heavy beats that mirror the brutality of business dealings, while “Nachts im Zoo” wraps the listener in noir-like unease, its atmosphere heavy with paranoia. The final track, “Zoo Wärter,” flips the metaphor on its head, asking who truly holds the keys to the cages in society’s zoo.

What makes Zoo Deutschland remarkable is not just its lyrical ferocity, but its authenticity. Every metaphor feels lived-in, carved from experience rather than dreamed up in abstraction. The production mirrors the animal kingdom it conjures: pounding like fists, slithering like serpents, soaring like wings at night. Raubtier Kollektiv never loses focus, weaving metaphor and reality into a single, unbreakable vision.

Zoo Deutschland plants its flag firmly in raw underground grit, yet it does so with artistry sharp enough to demand attention well beyond Hamburg’s streets. This is a manifesto of survival, a cage-rattling testament to truth-telling in German rap!

Album: Reborn by Amara Fe

0

A JOURNEY OF GROWTH, SOUL, AND PURPOSE

Amara-Fe’s debut album, Reborn, is not a cautious introduction; it is a clear unveiling of an artist who has stepped into her own. Set against a backdrop of family stories and deep-rooted musical ties, the record draws from legacy but stands firmly in the present, carving out a space that feels both personal and strikingly universal.

Reborn moves through themes of renewal, loss, and self-empowerment with an assured hand. The songs never feel like fragments; instead, they create a continuous thread, each one connected to the next in spirit and sound. At the center is Amara-Fe’s voice: radiant, flexible, and full of conviction. She does not imitate; she interprets, weaving in echoes of soul, pop, and gospel without losing her own center of gravity.

The production amplifies that balance between intimacy and scale; a vivid mix of electronic textures and live instrumentation, particularly bursts of horns and piano flourishes, giving the album both drive and warmth. The sound is expansive but not overwhelming, allowing the emotional nuances of her vocals to take their rightful place in the spotlight.

Highlights emerge naturally: Too Good That captures a decisive strength, Hole in Chest unfolds with unguarded vulnerability, while Look in the Mirror rises as the album’s most powerful statement, a song of reflection and empowerment that feels destined to echo far beyond this debut.

Reborn stands out with its sense of purpose. These are not songs written for the sake of mere output; they are lived experiences translated into melody, crafted with care to resonate on a human level. Amara-Fe’s decision to oversee the full production of her work gives the album a unified identity, a clarity of vision that many artists only find after years of searching.

Reborn is more of a declaration of voice, intent, and artistry. Amara-Fe has stepped forward not only with songs that move but with a presence that signals longevity.

Fade by Shelita

0

Every time you see someone dear to you, it could be the last time you see them. So, you should cherish every moment you spend with your loved ones. That is the core message of Global Pop artist Shelita’s latest single “Fade”: A beautifully produced pop anthem with a unique sound.

“Fade” brings to the surface the inevitability of change and the importance of being present in the moment. To not take these beautiful, calm moments for granted, to really see love for what it is. It’s ephemeral, like a wave upon the shore.

The song’s sonic qualities create a unique atmosphere with airy synths and low-tuned sampled drums at a medium tempo; it feels like floating while dancing with a loved one in a wholesome embrace. Shelita’s signature vocal style fills the space created by the airy textures.

Lyrically, the song manages to successfully evoke images in the listener’s mind. Directly addressing the listener in a hypnotic way, “Here’s the pillow in which you can lay your head” or “Close your eyes and imagine you have everything you’ve ever, you’ve ever dreamed of”. A clever, creative tool to immerse listeners in powerful visualizations.

“Fade” by Shelita is a simple yet powerful song, like a potent poem (if poems had meticulously produced and well-thought-out harmony), and is a perfect example of a great pop song.

Through the Night by Liri Dais

Liri Dais’ “Through the Night” brings a modern twist to the classic dancefloor banger genre that was popular in the 2000’s. The song itself was recorded by the artist but enhanced with AI instead of creating a fully AI-generated song. And impressively, it was recorded in a home recording setup, which is a testament to the artist’s talent being able to pull off such a well-produced song in a home environment, and just using AI to add that final polished layer.

Heavily inspired by Enrique Iglesias’ Latin pop style, the flamenco-style guitar and bass bring palpable energy to the track, while the vocal performance sets this song apart with a unique tonal quality. Narratively, the song is about that fleeting moment of magic when you make eye contact with someone on the dancefloor and that spark just fires off. Temptation, Adrenaline, Lust, and the irresistible, powerful magnet of love. Like a moth to a flame, “She must be the one for me”. It’s usually difficult to express such feelings in a genuine way in a song, but you can really feel the sultry passion of attraction in this song.

“Through the Night” by Liri Dais is a classic club banger that is very danceable with catchy lyrics to pour your heart out into. And it will easily bring up the energy of any house party.

Cravin’ by Consequential

0

As their debut on the WoodysWorldRecords NZ, a renowned record hailing from New Zealand, Consequential’s “Cravin’” is a first in many ways for the UK producer, Consequential. A talented UK producer hailing from Bury St. Edmunds, England, Consequential specializes in bass music while incorporating various elements from the electronic tradition.

Focused on making music with a pulse, a music that comes to life, “Cravin’”, released on August 16th this year, is a dynamic, versatile track. Bass-focused, as Consequential’s other tracks, the track also utilizes additional elements from liquid funk like liquid drum, trance, and dub for a more rave-y atmosphere.

Yet, the track’s core is versatile, moving easily and smoothly across its melody, creating an atmosphere that is as suitable for background kitchen music while cooking as it is for moving to in a rave or a nightclub. Recorded entirely in the box with real-world samples, there is a tangible touch to the track’s electronic nature, adding a playful richness to its texture.

Marking the beginning of a collaboration with the renowned label and its known love for music and music lovers above all else, this track also marks the direction of Consequential’s future work and style, generally speaking. Overall, it is an easily appealing piece of music with an innovative soundscape and much to appreciate.

DESTRUCTIVE by Mulahbae

0

With the release of their first album, “Digital Sinners”, Mulahbae established themselves as one of the freshest new voices from Beirut to pay attention to. With a first album that was originally developed during quarantine, their latest released single “DESTRUCTIVE” shows that this album was not a one-time hit developed in a particularly unreal time, but that Mulahbae’s voice remains fresh and distinct. The Lebanese artist’s formal education was in fashion and pattern designing, a craft that surprisingly pours into their music creations well.

Released on the 18th of July this year, “DESTRUCTIVE” is the ultimate chill club summer banger. Serving as the fourth and final single from their second studio album MYTHOMANIA, “DESTRUCTIVE” is, however, also a carefully crafted (lyrically and musically) piece that has its place on Mulahbae’s musical journey of self-discovery and exploration of pathological problems, relationship troubles, and our extreme, contradictory methods to dealing with such things. The song delves into themes of betrayal and smug revenge, a destructive type of empowerment.

Fusing synth-pop and electro-pop, with all their different influences, this track nearly never saw the light of day. With three sonically different demo versions and a near resolution to never releasing the song, Mulahbae only changed their mind when the song—prior to any official release—was played by DJ friends in parties and garnered the attention of different crowds.

This tumultuous backstory might be the reason behind the song’s interesting patterning and its mosaic-like vibe that gives its distinctness. No matter the reason, however, overall, “DESTRUCTIVE” is a song you want to enjoy the rest of the summer dancing to.

Man I Used To Be by Dax

A SOUL-BARING CONFESSION

Some songs are written for the charts, others for the soul. Dax’s latest Release, Man I Used To Be, belongs to the latter. The track emerges from a season of sobriety and self-reflection, marking a pivotal turn in the Wichita-born artist’s journey. Six months alcohol-free before stepping into the studio, Dax stripped away every distraction, leaving only truth, memory, and raw emotion to fuel his pen.

The result is a song that feels less like a performance and more like a testimony. Minimalist in production yet monumental in honesty, Man I Used To Be plays like an intimate conversation in the quiet hours of the night: haunting, unflinching, and profoundly human. His voice carries the scars of addiction, grief, and regret, yet also the resilience of a man choosing growth over escape.

What makes this release stand out is its refusal to glamorize struggle. There are no dramatics, no easy resolutions, just the uncomfortable reality of change. Dax doesn’t crown himself a hero; instead, he lays bare the pain of shedding an old self and the courage it takes to keep walking forward. Every line lands heavy, not because it is polished, but because it is real.

Blending country, hip-hop, soul, and folk-like storytelling, the track sits at the crossroads of genres yet belongs wholly to Dax. It resonates with anyone who has stared down their reflection and wondered if they’ve truly changed, or simply learned how to hide better.

With the Lonely Dirt Road Tour on the horizon this October, Dax steps into this next chapter with a message that is equal parts personal and universal: healing begins with honesty. And in his unguarded voice, listeners may just find the courage to face their own.

EP: Memes by Mike Vorpal

0

A DARKLY CINEMATIC JOURNEY

Mike Vorpal’s debut EP Memes is nothing short of an arresting statement: six tracks that fuse dark wave textures with guitar-driven grit, weaving together a soundscape that is both unflinchingly raw and strangely hypnotic. It’s a record that pulls you into its nocturnal world of irony, distortion, and psychological unrest.

The opener, Planet Earth, disguises its meditations on digital-age loneliness beneath deceptively upbeat riffs, a sharp irony that sets the tone for the rest of the record. From there, Manhunter completely changes course, exploding into a storm of brooding synths and razor-wire guitars. It stalks the listener with menace, a chase scene for the psyche where Vorpal’s cold, cryptic delivery deepens its unsettling pull.

House of Capricorn stretches the EP into a slower, shadow-drenched meditation: warm synths and reversed textures crafting a dreamlike space where compulsion and reckoning intertwine. Then comes Charlatan, a track steeped in drum machine pulses and somber synths, its late-night atmosphere a mirror for the weight of destructive awareness.

By the time Q arrives, Vorpal is pushing into bold experimentation. With synchronized riffs, percussive assaults, and tongue-twisting overlapping lyrics, the track unravels structure itself, daring listeners to wrestle with its dissonant thrill. The finale, Overboard, is the EP’s crowning moment, a chilling dive into psychological drowning that feels more like being pulled under than simply listening. It lingers, refusing to let go even after silence takes over.

With Memes, Vorpal has crafted a collection that feels immediate and timeless, haunted by post-modern melancholy yet alive with a visceral energy. It’s music for the existential hours of the night, for those who want their playlists to not only echo but confront. Bold, unnerving, and unforgettable, Memes marks the arrival of an artist unafraid to stare into the dark and drag us with him.

Avocet Court by ReeToxa

A TENDER CONFESSION THROUGH “AVOCET COURT”

ReeToxA unveils a strikingly intimate side with Avocet Court, a ballad that glows like an ember within the storm of their debut album Pines Salad. Where much of the record thrives on heavy riffs and layered intensity, this single pares everything back, relying instead on honesty, fragility, and an emotional weight that lingers long after the final note fades.

At its heart, Avocet Court is less a performance than a whispered admission. Gentle melodies drift like unspoken thoughts, while the vocal delivery carries both delicacy and defiance. It’s a track that resists embellishment, proving that vulnerability alone can carry immense power. The result is a song that feels like a quiet embrace: comforting, but also cutting in its truth.

The story behind the track adds even more depth. Written from ReeToxA’s experience growing up in Carrum Downs, Victoria, the song reflects the pull between conformity and self-expression. Sydney becomes a symbol of escape, of the life the artist longed to reach yet never set out for. That conflict, between running away and staying rooted, turns into something universal, a mirror for anyone who has felt trapped by expectation yet burning with the desire to choose their own path.

What makes Avocet Court resonate is its range of emotion. It sways between stillness and release, between tender reflection and the ache of unrest. While its texture leans into indie balladry with soft edges, its message remains bold: art will not be confined by rules or circumstance. ReeToxA turns silence into strength, showing that sometimes the quietest songs leave the loudest echoes..
