CHANDRA – WINNERS INDEED!

Sometimes a song doesn’t just land, it arrives like a victory lap. Chandra’s latest single, “Winners,” does exactly that. It’s a punch-the-sky, belt-it-out kind of track that doesn’t just pump you up, it pulls you in. Think sun-drenched car rides, post-battle triumphs, and that rare feeling of shared triumph that makes you believe the good fight is worth it!

Opening with a blast of brilliant guitars and heartbeat drums, “Winners” kicks into high gear instantly, with the kind of cinematic punch that echoes long after the final chorus. The Bristol-based trio have been crafting their own brand of modern pop-rock, somewhere between Imagine Dragons’ stadium-ready scope and The Killers’ scrappy sparkle, and this release might just be their most defining moment yet.

At the core of the song is a message of perseverance, not the sanitized kind you put on a vision board, but the real, bruised, emotionally charged kind. This is resilience in technicolor. It’s for the days you can’t find your footing, but lace up anyway. Frontman Chandra Nair delivers each line with both tenderness and urgency, his voice carrying not just notes, but narratives.

“We will be / We will be winners!”

It’s a chant, a promise, a reminder. Whether whispered or screamed, it lands like a lifeline.

Co-produced with Aaron Short, “Winners” boasts a pristine, modern polish without losing any of its warmth or humanity. Bassist Chris Wong keeps the momentum tight and fluid, while Mike Paul’s guitar work glistens with perfectly placed grit and lift. Together, they strike a rare balance: anthemic without being artificial, heartfelt without dipping into sentimentality.

More than just a single, “Winners” feels like a culmination. The band’s steady stream of releases, now with a rhythm of every two months since signing with Rexius Records, isn’t just quantity; it’s a showcase of quality and growth. Each song is a brick, “Winners” is the flag they plant at the top.

What really sets this track apart is its emotional universality. You don’t need to be in the middle of a dramatic life crisis to feel this song. It meets you where you are: on the treadmill, in traffic, on your way to something hard—and reminds you that struggle can still sound like joy. It’s a hug disguised as a power chord.

For fans of YUNGBLUD, Young the Giant, or just anyone who’s ever screamed a chorus into the wind, hoping to feel whole again, Chandra isn’t just a band to watch. They’re a band to believe in.

So go ahead, turn it all the way up.

And yes, WE WILL BE WINNERS!

Power of the People by ZOOLOOK®

0

IT’S NO LONGER POWER TO THE PEOPLE!

With Power of the People, ZOOLOOK doesn’t just pay tribute to a legacy of protest music; he rewrites the tone. Gone is the clenched-fist urgency of Power to the People. What we get instead is something more self-assured, more rhythmic, and far more timeless: a confident reminder that the people already hold the power.

From the opening bars, the track dives deep into funk and soul, carrying the unmistakable warmth of the ’70s while pulsing with modern finesse. Think classic grooves dusted with crisp production, playful brass, and just enough electronic shimmer to place it firmly in the now. ZOOLOOK, a self-taught multi-instrumentalist and genre-bending talent, crafts a sound that feels both familiar and entirely his own.

It’s almost shocking how laid-back this track feels for something so rooted in resistance. But that’s the magic: ZOOLOOK proves that music can be powerful without being loud. There are no shouted slogans or heavy-handed lyrics dominating the mix. Instead, the vocals weave in and out, letting the instrumentation speak volumes. It’s restraint used masterfully, letting the groove do the heavy lifting while the message unfolds naturally.

The influence of legends like Bernard Edwards, Maurice Gibb, Herbie Hancock, and even the atmospheric synth stylings of Jean-Michel Jarre and Kraftwerk peek through, but they never overshadow ZOOLOOK’s distinct voice. The track dances between eras, nodding to disco, funk, and soul, but ultimately lands as a contemporary piece that knows exactly where it comes from, and where it wants to take you.

Even the shift in title, from Power to the People to Power of the People, signals a deeper evolution. Inspired by Senator Cory Booker’s words, ZOOLOOK shifts the energy from protest to presence. It’s not about what the people need to be given, it’s about what they already carry within them!

Power of the People offers something refreshingly different: a funky, soulful reminder that true strength doesn’t need to scream. It only needs to groove!

The Uncle by Takeover

0

The Takeover NYC band has dropped a new single called “The Uncle” and they didn’t disappoint. The band has been going strong since 2018. If you are not already familiar with them, they are a five-member group from New York City, Mark Fischer on Lead Guitar, Alex Black on Bass Guitar, Mitch Etchason on Rhythm Guitar, and Dylan Hemingway, the main vocalist.

Emerging from the city that birthed rock legends like The Strokes,The Velvet Underground, and The Talking Heads. The Takeover are following in the footsteps of the greats.

They are unapologetically themselves and it is very clear when you listen to their music. The band was formed to create good music and so far they succeeded in creating not just good but great tracks.

“The Uncle” is another great song, which starts strong and keeps going, the beat gradually escalates and I felt as if the song was charging. The song reached a climax point with the solo guitar riff during the bridge. The song is emotionally charged, energizing, and electrifying. It is exactly what I expect from the Takeover.

After 5 years of making music, touring, and performing. They are on their way to perfecting the craft of creating memorable rock hits. They create sincere, authentic art and raw rock energy, a long-lost art these days with mainstream tracks creating songs catered for a 30-second TikTok video or an Instagram reel.

This track is simply on another level, like most of their music, it is meant to be enjoyed, experienced, and felt whether listening to the track or attending one of their performance, their music would make you feel something.

Check “The Uncle” now and if you want to see Takeover perform live you can easily check their live show dates here.

You Gotta Know by Collaborations – Ed Dnaiels

0

I rarely find an artist who enjoys mixing old styles with today’s pop songs. However, Collabortions create some modern songs with the taste of 60s and 70s songs. They, as the name already entails, are a group of artists that would come together to create incredible art.

They are owned by Ed Daniels, who has a vision of creating songs with a heart at the core. Nowadays, a lot of the pop music loses the true meaning of music and care only for creating a “hit” song. Collabortions, on the other hand, are a group that cares about authenticity, creative freedom, and delivering a conscious message.

They recently released a song under the title “You Gotta Know”, the song is written by Ed Daniels and Anais Preller. Anais Preller is also the main vocalist of the song, with a delicate and soft voice, she delivers an outsanding preformance.

The musical composition is inspirational; it draws influence from the soulful and motivational gospel music. The blend of instruments is phenomenal, just like described it is a modern creation of nostalgic 60s song styles. The beauty of this song lies not only in its composition but the message behind it.

The song’s message is to push the listener to break the passive state they might be in and to do something regarding their life. The song questions the status quo according to the artists behind it. It discusses introspective ideals that are needed in today’s day and age. We are all trapped in the race of life, which tends to be distracting and unsettling. Life doesn’t need to be this way, and change at a certain point is necessary. The song encourages the listeners to take action and control their lives.

When I first heard the song, it give off a nostalgic feeling, I felt like watching a movie from the 90s with the protagonist is facing a life changing decision. The song plays in the background as the protagonist finally decides what to do.

Don’t Dance by 5ON5

Straight out of Berlin, Germany, “5ON5” is a band made up of four amazing artists — Max Koffler, $INAN, Maxx B, and Yumin.

Each one of them brings something new to the table, as they come from different backgrounds. They are here to impress you with their mesmerizing musical ability to mix dark electronic pop and hip-hop vibes.

The band described themselves once in an interview as “a clash of four personalities and styles that somehow just works” (York Calling, 2023).

They managed to amaze us through the diversity in their music by blending hip-hop beats, electronic pop, and clean vocals.

What makes them absolutely unique is their alchemy that comes with harmony, which led them to produce music that has no limits!

Released in January 2022, “Don’t Dance” came to life when these four different minds crashed into each other, coming up with this catchy, unpredictable song.

Peaking at No. 221 on the German radio charts, “Don’t Dance,” from the very start, will take you to another world full of energy that will leave you breathless. And with those confident vocals, you can truly feel a storm that hits.

The beat is dark, and it’s pulsing with life.

Right away, it will win hearts with its flashy, cozy visuals and easy lyrics as it tells the truth.

Looking for something that doesn’t sound like everything else out there? “Don’t Dance” will fit right in and let you feel whatever you need to feel.

So take a moment to put your headphones on and give it a good listen!

EP: D-ctionnaire by Stefano Orfeo Meneghetti

0

THIS IS THE ALPHABET OF GROWNUPS!

What happens when a mountain-dwelling graphic designer and a Marseille-based sonic explorer decode language through sound? You get D-ctionnaire, a concept EP that reimagines the alphabet not as a child’s tool, but as a mature, transcontinental map of rhythm, repetition, and resonance. This boundary-pushing project is the work of Italian experimentalist Stefano Orfeo Meneghetti and DJ/curator Monsieur Lune, supported by an international mosaic of collaborators spanning Nigeria to Ukraine.

Across four tracks, Ventilation, Sidération, Domination, and Zombification, the EP dives deep into the sonic potential of words. But this isn’t about meaning. It’s about feeling. Spoken text loops into mantras, spoken-word transforms into musical architecture, and the alphabet becomes a gateway to something sensual, cerebral, and strangely liberating.

Driven by the fluid pulse of Afrobeats, the ambiance of deep house, and the shimmer of future bass, each piece unfolds like a meditation on the sonic body of language itself. Voices, most notably the introspective warmth of Monsieur Lune and the ethereal clarity of Naomi Pacifique, guide listeners through this invented lexicon with poetic authority.

What truly makes D-ctionnaire stand out is its collaborative DNA. Musicians from Kenya, India, Morocco, Sri Lanka, and beyond contribute their distinct textures, making this EP feel less like a solo project and more like a multilingual jam session on the frequencies of thought and culture.

For listeners seeking music that challenges, soothes, philosophizes, and without a doubt astonishes, this is your adult alphabet book, written in rhythm, spoken in texture, and heard through intuition!

Get Me There to Church by Michellar

0

A HEARTWARMING WISH WRAPPED IN SOOTHING AMERICANA COUNTRY FOLK MUSIC!

With her debut single “Get Me There to Church”, Michellar steps into the country music scene with grace, sincerity, and a gentle emotional pull that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly current. Written by Michelle Bond and released on June 27, 2025, this Americana-tinged folk-country track beautifully captures the tender crossroad between long-time love and the desire for deeper commitment.

The song blossoms with warm acoustic instrumentation and subtle rhythmic textures, laying down a sonic foundation that’s both comforting and intimate. Harrison Black’s earnest vocal tone takes the lead with a down-to-earth richness, soon met by Helen Walford’s soft harmonies that elevate the chorus into something quietly anthemic. Together, their voices shape the track into a dialogue, a heartfelt exchange between two souls on the brink of a sacred step forward.

While rooted in country traditions, Michellar doesn’t lean on tropes. Instead, she weaves her real-life reflections into the lyrics, drawing from personal experience with emotional maturity. “Get Me There to Church” is a musical memoir about the subtle ache of time, the pull of memory, and the courage to seal love with intention.

Produced by Tobias Wilson and recorded across three cities: San Francisco, London, and Staffordshire, the song radiates a sense of transatlantic longing. It’s as if the music itself traverses the distance between hearts and homes.

For fans of Miranda Lambert and those who appreciate storytelling with a tender pulse, this debut is a beautiful promise of what’s to come!

Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement

Why Scorpions Should Not Rock Cairo: A Call to Boycott Their October Concert in Egypt

0

As Egypt prepares to welcome the legendary German rock band Scorpions this October, many fans and activists are raising critical questions: Should Egypt host a band with a long history of performing in and supporting Israel? Is their repeated presence in Israel a personal choice — or are they pressured by political or financial entities?

The upcoming concert, part of their Love at First Sting world tour, is being met with growing backlash in light of the band’s controversial history in the region. While rock music can be a powerful force for unity, it can also be a vehicle for normalization — especially when used to gloss over ongoing human rights violations. In the case of the Scorpions, many argue that their legacy in the Middle East cannot be separated from the political implications of their performances in Israel.

Scorpions’ Repeated Engagements with Israel

Scorpions have performed in Israel numerous times over the past decades, often without publicly acknowledging the apartheid and occupation realities Palestinians endure. Here are some of the notable instances:

  • July 2018 – Performed at Live Park, Rishon LeZion.

  • October 2016 – Headlined a concert at Menora Mivtachim Arena, Tel Aviv.

  • July 2005 – Played in Tel Aviv during their world tour.

  • 1995 – Among the first major Western rock bands to perform in Israel post-Oslo Accords.

Their concerts were often promoted as “peaceful” musical gatherings, yet the silence of the band regarding Israel’s aggressive military campaigns and occupation raises questions about where they stand.

Are Scorpions Forced to Perform in Israel?

One of the key debates surrounding international acts performing in Israel is whether they are pressured — by governments, promoters, or record labels — to perform as a way of legitimizing the state. While no clear public statement from Scorpions confirms external pressure, their repeated tours in Israel despite widespread calls for cultural boycotts suggest a willing alignment or apathy toward the political ramifications.

Several international artists — including Roger Waters, Lorde, and Brian Eno — have canceled or refused to perform in Israel as part of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, recognizing the role of art in shaping public narratives. In contrast, Scorpions have never issued a statement regarding the Palestinian plight or expressed solidarity with victims of occupation and war.

Why Egypt Should Not Be the Next Stage

Hosting the Scorpions in Cairo is not just another concert — it is an act of normalization, especially during a time when the Gaza Strip and West Bank are enduring relentless assaults. It also contradicts Egypt’s long-standing historical position of supporting the Palestinian cause.

In a country where public opinion largely favors resistance to occupation and injustice, allowing Scorpions to perform unchallenged sends a conflicting message to both citizens and the international community.

Instead of welcoming artists who normalize apartheid through entertainment, Egypt should be promoting voices of justice, resistance, and cultural integrity.

Music has always been a tool for political influence — whether for liberation or oppression. The choice to host Scorpions in Egypt in 2025 is not neutral. It is time for artists to be held accountable for where they choose to stand in times of war and injustice.

Egyptian citizens, fans, and cultural institutions should say no to Scorpions’ concert. Let it be clear: we do not dance while others are being bombed.
